Sophia's Ristorante Italiano Ratings and Reviews
Extensive menu....hard to review as chatting with friends...chose special offered. Chicken parm was tender, sauce seemed dried on under moist cheese...shrimp good but lime basil sauce didn't mix for me with red sauces...al dente ravioli.....
We sat for a long time, chatted and shared 2 bottles wine but waitress finished 2 nd bottle into one glass....should have offered splash to others.
Service was great otherwise! Will return!
This was our 3rd time here and we must have caught the chef on an off night. One of the dishes we ordered (Chicken Cacciatore) was not very good, too much of an herb (I think it was Oregano). We had to send it back. What annoyed me the most was the Manager did not come to the table to apologize or offer a solution. He left that up to the waiter. She did offer to substitute the dinner but my wife declined. Of course it was taken off the bill. With that said we have enjoyed Sophia's before and will try them again.
It was our first time dining there. My daughter and son in law visiting and heard about Sophia’s at barefoot beach and I always wanted to go there so I made the reservation. We all enjoyed our dinners. The servers were very courteous and explained the specials of the evening . We were very pleased with everything and of course we will return!!
10 colleagues dined at Sophia's for an after-meeting dinner. As with previous visits, the food was delicious, the service was very good, the wine flowed and everyone was happy. This tends to be our go-to place since it is near the office and the food is consistently good.
In my estimation Sophia's is the best Italian restaurant in Naples. The service is superior but that is not a surprise because the owner is there constantly supervising every detail of the room. The food, while on the higher price side is carefully prepared and authentic. Veal is a specialty with many different recipes. I happen to appreciate the Pasta Bolognese. When you arrive you are warmly received and usually there is at least one, sometimes two people holding the door and wishing you a good evening when you leave. All in all an evening at Sophia's is a pleasant experience.
Once again Sophia’s exceeded our expectations. We truly enjoyed Louie The accordion player. His music brought just the right touch to the evening. There isn’t a trip to Naples where we don’t visit Sophia’s and the restaurant has proven time and time again that it is one of the very best
Living on its reputation, they have a formula that works for them but does not match many of the newer offerings in town. In all honesty one of our dishes was superb, unfortunately the other was poor. Really needs upgrading.
We went to Sophias for a birthday dinner. There were 6 of us. The atmosphere was low key and lovely. Alex, our Server was excellent and fun to talk with. Our selections were varied. We had a couple of the Calamari appetizers. Both were wonderful. Some of us loved our entrees and one of us sent it back. Overall we had a delightful evening, and enjoyed our food. It was pricey but it seemed to be very good quality overall.
We had an excellent meal at Sophia's and our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. We both had veal dishes: my wife the Vitelli Frances and I the Vitelli Marsala. Both were delicious.
The only down note was an incident with another diner. When his children, including a small toddler, ran, screaming loudly, directly to our table, we politely sai, "No, no. Don't do that." Their father followed to our table where he proceeded to be belligerent and threatening to my wife and I.
This was not the fault of the restaurant. However, the management might have stepped in to calm the man down and avert any further unpleasantness.
One of our very favorite restaurants!! Outstanding management - the owner is always available, lovely surroundings, delicious food with large portions. Retains staff- they have all been there for years - are extremely pleasant ,professional, and knowledgable about the menu. Parking is easily accessible.Very popular with year round residents - make sure you have a reservation!! (Suggestions from our last visit - veal milanaise is unbelievable - you won't be able to finish it, best lasagna in town, basic pasta and meatballs can't be beat. )
This is our 4th time to Sophia's. Service is fantastic and food is well prepared. Homemade pasta was excellent. If you can see past the veal chops (specialty) the specials and other menu items are great. Forced myself this time not to do the chops and get the special. Was not disappointed. Accordian player was a great add.
