Sophabella's Ratings and Reviews
This place has gone down hill. We tried to have a friends brunch this afternoon and everything about it was wrong. The server forgot everything, spilled drinks all over the table the 2 times he came to check on us in 2 hours, our food was delivered, was cold and looked like they slopped it on the plate and didn't even try to make a good presentation.
We gave this place a 6th chance after the first 5 brunches went this exact way. I think we will retire this "go-to" restaurant.
Obviously short staffed in the kitchen, after arriving before other diners our meal took 50 minutes after ordering and arrived a few plates at a time. Not a word about a delay. Other arrived after us, dined, and left before our first plate arrived. Those arriving later were told the kitchen was behind, but not one word. Topping it off, one diner asked for poached eggs over hard. Those arrived under while the individual ordering poached as they should be received rock hard eggs. The children were so tired by the time all arrived, we just made do. Very unfortunate.
We have been here a couple of times. They have a great menu with variety. The food has been very good each visit. This seems to be one of those trendy, seedy places that you have to know someone to get good service. We came with kids and felt a bit snobbed. This is not terrible until your tea glass is empty... The ambiance would seem appropriate during Prohibition. There was quiet a bit of deffered Maintenance and grimm dark corners that look like they haven't seen a broom in years. Water leaking from A/C vents and buckling wood floors are enough to warrant a loss of 2 stars.
Hopefully they can tidy up a bit and be a 4-5 star joint.
Service was exceptional. Food was exceptional. Atmosphere was great for a date night. The only thing they could improve would be upkeep as our seats had torn material. The food and service is so awesome it's worth updating the decor, keep the same style just repair what needs to be fixed. It was very clean and we will be back. The nachos, diablo pasta dish, ribeye, mushrooms and whipped potatoes were amazing!
We loved our waiter, Stacy. He let us enjoy our food at our own pace, and made some fine suggestions. The Brie appetizer was amazing! We also had their hearty tomato-basil soup and the Italian Chicken Romolaude. Everything had a unique delicious seasoning, and was thoroughly enjoyable. A suggestion was made to get the homemade chocolate cake, and the next time I go (and there WILL be a next time) I am going to save room for it!
The hostess was so rude and moved at a snails pace. Gave us two table options, one of them still covered in dirty cups and plates and silverware. It took them 25 minutes to take our drink order, the food was so so. We were there 2 hours and it was way too long.
The food was good...it seemed very chaotic with the wait staff and it was not half full...my friend got there first, had a mimosa already and it took another 10 minutes our waitress to take my drink order. It just seemed like they were not in synch... I will go back and give it another shot..
We were on our first visit. We were promptly seated and advised that there would be some delay due to a family emergency for part of the kitchen staff. As we planned a leisurely eve of dining an conversation, this was not a detriment for us.
The remaining staff made it near impossible to note there was any issue. And the food. Oh my, the food was excellent across the board. While this was our first visit, it certainly will not be our last trip to Sophabella's.
The food was pretty good and the service was excellent. There was a great prime rib special going on during our visit. The chef even sent out a portobello mushroom demiglace for our steaks as a special treat. I could have done without the flat screen tv in the dining room but I'm old school in that I don't think you need a tv everywhere you go.
Our party of 10 arrived for our 1 o'clock reservation only to find out we had to wait. Which in and of itself isn't the worst disaster in history. So we waited 20 minutes for our table. The experience wasn't off to a great start, but hey, that's ok, we'll roll with it and have a nice time. No big deal. We get seated and manage to order cocktails. Then we order lunch. Now we proceed to wait an hour for the food to come out. Seriously? What was that about? Other tables that were seated after us ordered, were served and LEFT before we got our food. This is clearly unacceptable. Our group eats brunch once a month at local restaurants around Oklahoma City. We won't be back to Sophabella's.
Went for Mother's Day dinner and the restaurant was not busy at all. Our hostess/waitress told us there was no kid's menu, and after informing her that I'd seen one on the restaurant website, she went to look for one and get the rest of our drinks. 20 minutes later, no drinks, no update about menu, we decided to leave. I walked kids to the car as husband stayed to pay for the one drink we had actually received. He waited a bit longer at the table as he watched our waitress folding napkins and chatting in the corner. Finally, he went to the bar to pay for the drink. We will not be going back.
They weren't ready for our reservation and acted like they just received it even though it was made days in advance so I'm not for sure what the breakdown in the system was. They tried to get us to come back an hour later but after already driving 30 min to reach the restaurant that wasn't an ideal situation. They finally agreed to go ahead and seat us and begin service but they weren't really prepared to do so. The food "main courses" were very good but not all menu options were available. The service was average. I might give them another chance but not for a special event.
The food is excellent and the wait staff has always been great! We were there for Easter brunch and it was great, so we came back for Mother's Day, too!! Sharon took extremely good care of us AND was very personable. Their lobster bisque is fantastic, and I would go there just for that!!
We went on a Saturday night. It was prom night so it was fairly busy compared to normal. We arrived at 6:20 and were sat immediately. Our server did let us know they were running a little behind "You all aren't trying to make a movie in an hour are you?" We weren't and we were not in a hurry at all - we kind of know already that Sophabellas is not the place to go if you're in a hurry. We ordered drinks and our meals. It took 20 min before we received our soup and salads which were great.
Then we waited and waited and waited.
Our server came to tell us our food should be coming right out. 45 minutes later he came and said "it's getting cooked right now" irritation started to set in. We had been fairly patient at that point. Another 20 minutes went by and we finally just asked for our check. They only charged us for our drinks.
I think if the server wouldn't have told us our food was coming out a whole hour before it was even cooked we would have been even more patient. We left at 8:00 and still didn't see many other tables with actual entrees on their tables... Sophabellas needs to get their stuff together.
This was our first time there and was recommend by several friends. We had the bruschetta and ultimate pepperoni pizza. Both were delicious. The atmosphere was somewhat dark and quiet - great for a date night!!! Patrons were clothed from casual to date night wear. We went on an early Friday night. Waitress was friendly and helpful. If you are looking for good food and atmosphere, Sophabellas is the place to be. We will return.
Just OK. Wish I'd ordered the deep dish pizza! From eating the perimeter of the thin crust I ordered bet its good. Other wise, wife's steak ordered medium rare, served medium. Drinks small and watered down and waiter way too talkative for someone not particularly likable.
Went for Sunday brunch. Ordered eggs Benedict.
English muffin was not toasted. Luke warm when served. Potatoes were also luke warm and greasy . We Informed the waitress who said she would inform the cook. Did not offer another selection or decrease in check
Arrived 15 minutes before our reservation and was not even acknowledged for 15 more minutes. The hostess was everywhere but at the hostess station. Let me just say I know they were busy as it was Valentine days but don't take more reservations than you can handle. We sat at the bar and had a drink while we waited for our table. Another couple was seated before us although we had arrived well before them and it was 20 minutes past our reservation time. Upon being seated the waiter was already apologizing and making excuses for the kitchen staff, this is before we even ordered water. The food was disappointing and bland, no seasoning what so ever. My wife decided to get her food boxed up so she could season it and re-heat it at home. The waiter took the food to box it up but never returned with it, after 15 minutes of waiting we had enough and left. It's not the most expensive place to eat but for 120.00 I definitely will not be back.
