Sopapilla's Ratings and Reviews
We lived in New Mexico for 6 years before moving here a couple years ago so we were interested in trying Sopapilla's. The owner's story also intrigued us and it's close to our home. Interestingly, there were no sopapilla's served with dinner, which is a staple at restaurants in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. (They just come with the meal like bread.) I had the green chile cheese burger and my husband had a quesadilla. The chips and salsa were great (we ate too many). He liked his quesadilla. The burger was hot and fairly tasty, but the fries were barely warm and the cheese and chiles slid off the burger in one gooey mess as I bit in. They seemed to be all one unit of cheese/chilis. We'll try it again before we recommend it or make it a favorite
Took 15 minutes to be served one beer. We had finished the appetizers before they delivered the drinks. Bartender totally non responsive. When we complained and actually went to the bar ourselves to get a drink the manager had the nerve to say “you are not the only customer here” despite the fact that the waiter and bar tender were not busy
We were happy to find this wonderful restaurant between Nashville and Franklin. The Mexican food was excellent, the service was prompt and friendly and the atmosphere was conducive to a friendly conversation with great friends.
Although we went on a cold winter night, the restaurant was comfortable. We are looking forward to having lunch or dinner in outside patio area this Spring.
I would highly recommend this restaurant to locals or to the areas many tourists. Thanks to Open Table for making us aware of this fine dining spot!
We’ve been multiple times and this was the best. It’s a popular place. Drinks and food were excellent. In the past portions were small. This time I could barely eat it all. The wife and daughter brought some of theirs home. There seems to be a fair amount of employee turnover, but our waiter was superb. Can’t wait until our next visit.
We went at the last minute on NYE and it was great. My wife and I split the 21-day dry aged steak fajitas. They were delicious! Cooked to perfection (medium rare)! And they gave each of us a “prep plate” with all of the usual toppings. The chef prepared guacamole was better than table side...didn’t think that was possible.
Very disappointed in the smaller portions, higher prices and now charging for sopapilla. We asked to make a substitution on our order and were told "CANNOT". Wow what happened to this once wonderful Franklin dining place--GREED has set in and it is sad. Once jewel in Franklin, now just another rip off. Never going back.
Friends and I went before a play in Franklin. We were pleased to learn of the happy hour and had a good glass of $5 wine. The guacamole was good and the Mahi Mahi fish tacos were delicious. Our waitress was very pleasant and helpful. All in all a pleasant experience. And very reasonable.
For years Sopapilla's has offered a FREE sopapilla at the end of a meal. They now charge for this. Personally, it was always a treat to be offered something free, of course, and now that they charge it has taken some of the appeal away. Booo Hisss. The food was still good. We were seated in the room with the bar. There was a loud Christmas party going on in a semi-private room just off the bar. No door to close, so their celebration carried right over to where we were. And, although our waiter was friendly and kind, they also had him in charge of that party. We had reservations so they knew when they placed us there that choosing their restaurant was something we planned and looked forward to. This just did not live up to our expectations.
The food was very good for New Mexican fare in TN. The chips and salsa were very good, salsa was flavorful not hot so you could taste every ingredient. The stuffed sopapillias were really good and not too much food. I will go back to Sopapillias in the future.
I'm completely addicted to the green corn tamales at this place. Not only are they AMAZing, they are only $4 each, so with one or two and the bottomless chips and salsa, it's an amazing meal. The only sad part is that they've done away with their free sopapillas.
We had reservations;the restaurant was virtually empty when we got there 6 in our party were seated on wall by door very cold every time door opened . 3people in our party ended up wearing our coats. Was told we couldn't move not sure reason why. Then the waitress added 20% gratuity to our ticket. I know this is sometimes done in parties of 6 or more but usually server lets you know. If I had not been paying attention we would have double tipped. I usually tip 20% if service is good but don't like it being added for us and service was not that good even with restaurant empty. Other issue is Soppalias has always given a free soppalia at the end of the meal-this was their signature thing- they have changed that to now you have to pay. This was one of things we loved about soppalias. It just seems to be going downhill and there are other good Mexican food out there that are not so pricey for lack of service and just ok food
What a fabulous place for brunch!! Every dish was better than the last and the bottomless Bloody Mary bar was awesome! I would recommend Sopapilla’s for any meal given my experience with their extensive Sunday brunch. A definite must!! I’ve tried many places for brunch, but this one I would highly recommend!
Food was excellent. Service was by a waiter who looked like he was not happy at his job. Not a smile to be had. He didn't write down our order for 4 people and got it wrong. Waited for a simple ice tea forever (twice). Shame a poor server can put a damper on an otherwise good experience.
One of those bad evenings in the kitchen but sitting outside made it much better. Could recognize when we entered the restaurant there was some kind of “disturbance in the force”. Took a bit to be seated, drink orders taken but........ Starters came out after a bit but drinks still not delivered. 2 of the entrees arrived but there were more than 2 guest. Service recovery was limited to profuse apologies about others not showing up for work. Appreciate knowing the “why” but I hate when we throw others under the bus (even if they failed to show. I expect management to have a plan B).
Food not that good, at all...menu items need to revamped...items were over worked, case in point the pineapple guacamole needs to be brought down a notch(trying to hard)....the shrimp and grits almost too sweet....my companion also did not enjoy the shrimp fajitas.....THE DRINKS THO WAS DAMN GOOD....!
