Son'z Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Waiter disappeared after taking our order. Food delivered by others. Food was very good but escargot needed more garlic and steak au poivre needed more pepper. The steak sauces were so so. The location and view of multiple large birds was wonderful although the birds got very loud at dusk.
Inexperienced staff throughout our dining service. Our server did not know anything about the menu. Busser couldn’t use a bottle opener to open our Pellegrino. Food was fair. We both ordered the filet mignon meatballs with spaghetti. Meatballs were fairly good although definitely not made with 100% filet. As foodies, it was easy to taste another protein and even more evident when I twice bit into something that was inedible. Ambiance was great however the poor quality of service and mediocre food would keep us from coming back.
Setting was beautiful, staff was good. However the bone in rib eye was chewy, the lobster tail was rubbery and they forgot to give us our appetizer (escargot) which they said was taking unusually longer than normal so they comped it.
Then the bull came and they forgot to add the bottle of wine, so they comped our creme brûlée. Portions are massive but extremely overpriced. Very nice view though.
This is the second time we ate there, the first time was amazing. This time the food was not cooked and cold. I had to send the dish back to be cooked. The wait staff was very apologetic and kind and accommodating, I believe there must have been issues in the kitchen this particular night
I have eaten in many of the top steakhouses accros the country and was very disappointed in the quality of my Prime? New York. While it was cooked perfectly it lacked flavor and tenderness found in prime steaks. It seemed to be cooked with no seasoning. The service and location was first class but for how expensive it was I would not return. Go for brunch.
The meal started out well. The service was good and then we ordered our food and it all went downhill from there. About an hour later, we were still waiting for our food, while people who sat down 30 minutes after we did already ate and left. I ordered a chopped salad which was missing the avocado and shrimp, but was LOADED with onion. When we told one of the servers that came by our table, he asked if i wanted him to bring me some avocado . I told him i was already finished with my salad and he said in a very passive aggressive way, “I’ll just comp the salad for you,” and he walked away. My husband and I looked at each other like, “what just happened?” I mean, for $14, I literally received an extremely small salad with 3 kalamata olives, a ton of white onion, watercress and hearts of palm. It was worth maybe $5 or $6 at the most. I’ve had dinner salads bigger and better than that. My daughter’s noodles were over-cooked and my husband’s $10 baked potato wasn’t cooked all the way through. The only thing he liked was the steak he ordered, which definitely wasn’t worth $47. It was just a sad meal with terrible service. We couldn’t wait to get the check and leave. This place has a lot of nerve charging Mastro’s prices in a coffee shop environment. We absolutely would never eat here again.
I’m sorry to say that our experience was disappointing since we love other restaurants run by this company. The food is uninventive, standard steak house fare. Medium quality. Great wine list but we tried a Paso Robles Zinfandel that was not good at all and should be removed from their selection.
Overall, a very good experience. The mahi was perfectly prepared and delicious. The spaghetti and filet mignon meatballs was disappointing - ho-hum spaghetti with very good much way too much meatballs. Service was adequate, but not terribly attentive. We asked for extra bread, were told "of course" and never heard anything else about bread. Drinks were not refilled, no offer made. These are not terrible problems except at fine dining prices they are not acceptable.
The food was absolutely delicious, however, it was unbelievably expensive. An 8-ounce steak was $47 with no sides or vegetables or anything. Our bill was $107 for two glasses of wine, a crab cake, and an 8-ounce filet. Service was great and the ambience was wonderful, it was just so expensive for very little food.
It was our very first trip to Maui and our 30th anniversary. We wanted a really nice dinner to celebrate. We thought this would be nice since we did not need to leave our hotel. I was highly disappointed as they were out of lobster??? Our drinks were slow to come and it was very expensive. We shared a steak and they charged us to split it and they knew it was our 30th anniversary and we did not even get a dessert offered to us. Alk they said when i said...you are really out of lobster??? The rude waitress said..sorry I know it's your special day? Not even a bite of cake for free...very disappointed and even in the Hyatt where we are staying. Find another place to eat for sure for dinner!!!
We saw our waiter when he took the order and never again. Another person brought dinner and drinks. Asked another waiter for drinks later and he never showed BUT charged for us for the drinks we never received. 1st time ever I gave such a low tip. Told manager about bill and circumstances and they took all drinks off for compensation. Credit card sat on table until we had to flag down someone to get it. They hadn't come because they thought we were going to put the bill on our room. We were NOT EVEN staying there and will not go back. It could have been worse, it could have been our anniversary...
Oh ya, it WAS! I used Open Table and they knew it was our anniversary.
Went for girlfriends birthday, service was extremely slow. Asked to be seated by window as multiple tables were open, nope.
After waiting almost 30 mins to order, was told steak no longer available as of two minutes before and upsold. Asked if they could give me price of steak I wanted since we should have ordered sooner, but nope not their problem. Told me he would check if there’s anything they could do, didn’t see waiter again until long we nearly finished eating.
Finally told them we were there for birthday and said no problem we have lava cake. Did not say they’d be adding that to the bill as well.
Waiter seemed to avoid us until time for check.
Overall poor service and bad communication.
