The food was really excellent. The dessert was only ok. Service was a little slow, but it was a busy night. Overall I really liked the ambiance and the restaurant.

I generally would not mind the wait or minor details on the food but I generally got the feeling I was being pushed out.
At the end, were not even down to our last bite when we were already being handed the check without being offered anything else.
We ended up getting our coffee compd which was enough to make up for the above.

We went for brunch on Saturday. Very fun environment and terrific food. Great mimosas! Great balance between fun and fancy!

After we were seated for our reservation, we waited 20 minutes for someone to come to the table. Had to ask a hostess to take our drink order. While waiting for drinks, still no server. There were empty tables around us so we did not understand why service was lacking. When someone did arrive, there was no acknowledgment of the nearly half-hour wait at the table. After we finally ordered, our server never came back to refill our drinks. In the past we had always enjoyed Sonsie. This particular night was our anniversary so the experience was beyond disappointing.

I have patronized Sonsie too many times over the years to count. Unfortunately, Friday night's experience was not good at all. The staff was great, but something was very wrong in the kitchen. We arrived at 5:45, had drinks & apps and waited 50 minutes for dinner despite our having stated a need to leave at 7:45. Not good at all.

Too loud for conversation. Too cold for comfort. Too slow service, took 1 hour to be served drinks and appetizers despite restaurant not being busy. Only due to prime location does this restaurant survive

Excellent lunch spot on a sunny spring day! Enjoyed the lamb wrap and BLT with grilled chicken. Service only okay.

Good food except fries were a bit limp. Salmon and flourless chocolate cake was delicious. Service was good also. Biggest complaint was that it was very very noisy so had to struggle to have conversation.

messed up our orders a few times, but were so apologetic and removed items from our check/gave us a complimentary dessert. Food was high quality but atmosphere a bit loud. The kind of place early adults go for a nice fun night out, not as much a family place because it is a bit dark/loud. All around a good meal though

Food was pricey, but just okay. Not bad, but not noteworthy either. Very loud. Front was open and it was cold throughout the restaurant. Service was fine.

Food and service very good. Atmosphere is fun. Noise level really too high. The doors were open which is fun, but it was much too cold!

A friend was attending a conference at the convention center, so we were looking for something close by and not too expensive. I had been past Sonsie numerous times, and it always looked interesting to me. It did not disappoint. We went on the first really nice day of spring, and were rewarded with a cafe seat right up front - great for people-watching. We ordered drinks - I had "The Dana" which was delicious. My friend had a Moscow Mule which she also said was great. I had the clam chowder, which was good but not as good as I was expecting. Then I had the Faroe Island salmon, and it was amazing! My friend had the roasted half-chicken, and said it was also amazing. The atmosphere was very social and the live music only added to the ambience. Our server was very busy, but pleasant and handled having alot of tables quite well. It would have been better if she'd had a few less, but we weren't in a rush so it was fine. Overall five stars, and I will go back again!

The service is my biggest complaint. I think that I would have had a much better experience if the service was consistent after receiving our meal. I think that this important to a good overall experience. Otherwise, the cocktails were fantastic! I recommend them. Worth the price compared to some other places in Boston!

It was nice. It was about 65 degrees out so upfront they had all the tables and chairs facing the outdoors, and the glass sliding doors open. We sat in the back and it was a bit stuffier and warmer, so a little uncomfortable. My date had a great burger and I had the chicken, which was very good.

Native Bostonian back in Boston for a weekend and a Red Sox game. Beautiful day and great food with selections galore! The food is great and the atmosphere is perfect for nice Saturday morning after another long winter.

We have enjoyed Sonsie since the mid 90s, a testimony to its quality and durability in a very competitive restaurant market. The location is great (though parking options are terrible), food always creative and well executed, and service is just right. We most recently enjoyed brunch - mimosas, oysters, quiche, huevos rancheros - the food was all very good. Service was very good - prompt but not rushed. We will return again to one of our Boston favorites.

Dinner was very good, especially the clam chowder. However, it is extremely noisy which makes it difficult to have any dinner conversation.

Tables too close together. Had to listen to the (really obnoxious) conversation next to us, and had a hard time getting out of our corner when we were ready to leave. The food was great, though.

I went to Sonsie’s to have brunch with a friend. This place was highly recommended by another friend of mine. At reception they offered us the option to be sat at either the cafe or the dinning room and we went for the latter. The food and the service were really good, and the atmosphere was calming because of the dim lighting. The artwork on the walls caught our attention and it was a fun few minutes to observe them (I’m not gonna spoil it for u, go see them yourself😁). Just be careful, they don’t accept DISCOVER credit cards.
Overall, Sonsie’s is a cool place to have a good old brunch.

This was the loudest restaurant I have ever been to. It was jammed, clearly popular with lots of folks, but you couldn't pay me to go back because of the noise. The wait staff was lovely and the food good, but it's just unpleasant not to be able to hear the people you are with at a table of four.

The food was very good. Service was extremely disappointing. After being seated it took several minutes for the waiter to come over to the table. After finally taking our drink order it was about 20-25 minutes until the drinks arrived at our table. It was then at least another 15 minutes of waiting to give our food order. The waiter then did not come and ask if we wanted another round of drinks until we were finished eating and it again took about another half hour until the drinks made it to our table. While waiting for our food and drinks we witnessed the waiter socializing with another table near by.

The hostess was very pleasant and inviting and attended to our party instantly. Again the food was delicious and atmosphere was great, but we were very upset with the service from the waiter. I don’t think I would return again because of the lack of care and attention the waiter provided.
