They brought me the wrong food twice. First time, okay, I get it, you just mixed up the tables. Second time, brought me the wrong pizza altogether.

On top of that, waiter was non-existent most of the night. It took over an hour for our entrees to show up because they were backed up making pizzas (they said they had 87 orders for pizza), and the waiter never came over to ask if we wanted another drink during the entire time between ordering our meal and it actually showing up. We had to flag down the waiter in order to request a bottle of wine with the main course. We sat down to our table at 7:20, ordered meals at 7:35, and received our main course around 8:50.

The food overall is very good here, and I’ve never experienced this problem before. However, this was a miserable dining experience. Certainly will reconsider whether I want to go back here, because the time is not worth the taste.

I booked Sonsie for my daughter’s 16th birthday celebration with a group of friends. They treated the girls so well and made it a very memorable experience. The manager and waiter were wonderful. The girls loved the food and the ambiance was beautiful.

The food and waitstaff were excellent. One complaint though- there are too many tables crammed into a small space. It was so crowded on Saturday at lunch time that our waiter could barely make it to our table. Our table was bumped and my drink spilled all over. The staff was apologetic, and gave us free lattes. That was nice, but I am not sure I would want to go back at such a busy time. Difficult to have a conversation.

Excellent experience on an early Thursday evening business dinner. Sonsie provided friendly and well-paced service, interestingly varied menu, manageable wine list, and a comfortable ambience. There was also a 'whiskey tasting' which my business partners (one from Edinburgh) especially enjoyed. I even recommended to my boss!

While we enjoyed our food at Sonsie, there were some definite issues with the service. Our waiter took an incredibly long time to take orders for both dinner and dessert, and failed to tell our party that they were out of a number of menu items (coincidentally, several of the items we had decided to order while waiting 20 minutes for our waiter to take our orders). This is not good service. Additionally, we were surrounded by a number of huge parties sitting at large tables and behaving incredibly rudely - crawling under tables, standing on chairs, shouting, etc. Not only did the waitstaff not attend to this problem, they actually seemed very friendly with the rude parties and spent quite a bit of time standing there chatting with the people milling about the dining area as though it were a bar. I've had good experiences at Sonsie before, but would hesitate to go back after the subpar service and ambiance at my last visit.

Food was excellent but wait time between ordering ... receiving meals ... ordering coffee ... to receiving the check was way too long. Had a 6:00 seating for 6 received meal at 7:30. We left the restaurant at 9:30 exhausted.

Our international group of business executives with varying dietary restrictions (gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, shellfish allergy) loved this place! It not only had great options for everyone's food fancy but our waiter was lots of fun. Just what we needed after being cooped up in a conference room all day!

Lovely restaurant for dinner with a "starving" and vegan student/granddaughter. Good options for her and for us, quiet enough for conversation, and very pleasant service. We'd come back and would certainly recommend it.

Food (pizza & salad) was good, service was good. maybe it's for a younger crowd, but i found it too dark, tables were crowded way too close together, and it was too loud. maybe we'd have enjoyed it more if we sat in the back of the restaurant.

We've been to Sonsie before and enjoyed it, but our recent meal there wasn't very good. Our wine orders were completely wrong and it took a long time to get the drinks. The manager graciously comped our drinks and that was appreciated. The food also took a while and the duck my husband ordered was way too rare. The manager replaced it, but the portion was small.

My husband and I drove down from Maine for two specific errands on Newbury St and we wanted to meet friends for a leisurely lunch before the drive back. We all enjoyed our food and the atmosphere was perfect for being able to catch up with them. We were thrilled that Sonsie takes luncheon reservations.

A wonderful touch was the way the staff acknowledged a birthday in the group. They really made a nice memory for all of us and we all said we would happily return.

Too noisy. Too dark - everyone around us had to light their menus with their cell phones to read them - none of the staff seemed to notice or care until a guest asked for the lighting to be turned up. Tables too close together. Food took forever to come and then forgot part of our order. Menu isn’t complete (yes, one expects fries with a burger, but why doesn’t the menu say that it comes with fries?). Service and food were good, but didn’t make up for the noisy, dark and cramped quarters.

This restaurant exists because if it's prime location - it certainly could not survive on its food alone.

Overall I like Sonsie and everyone enjoyed their meals. It was very busy but not atypical for a Sunday brunch. I've never noticed the noise level being so loud - it was actually hard to hear conversation around the table. Also, the service was painfully slow and server not very attentive when it came to drink refills, etc. So if you're not too hungry, have lots of time to kill and don't mind speaking at louder than normal tones go to Sonsie!

I hadn't been to Sonsie in over a year and returned over the busy Head of the Charles Regatta weekend with friends who have a son who is a picky eater. Sonsie is great for any occasion, and they have an interesting and eclectic menu. We had a great time. The restaurant was able to accommodate another in our party who has a dairy allergy. The staff is friendly and professional. We forgot to tell our waiter about the allergy and a breakfast item came with cheese. Our waiter immediately removed it and was back with a cheese-less version within two minutes.

Sonsie was packed on this Saturday night, but we chose a nice table in the front cafe section, overlooking the street with the windows open on a nice evening. The service was extremely slow, but luckily we were not in a rush. I enjoyed the pappardelle with roasted mushrooms, which was relatively light without a rich sauce.

The waitress interrupted our conversation almost every time she came to the table without regard. It's a little tiresome. The sound was a bit challenging too but to be expected if you've ever been to Sonsie. Food was good and came out in a timely manner.

Food was excellent. The quiche I ordered was not available, which was weird considering it was 10:45 during Saturday brunch. The food we did order was fabulous. The restaurant is really, really loud. For a quiet, relaxing brunch, I would probably pick elsewhere.
