Sonsie - Boston
Went for breakfast, juice was not fresh and didn’t taste right and our croissants were not fresh. Very surprised!!! Usually I give Sonsie all 5 stars
I definitely enjoyed The French toast it was really good with the bananas and I absolutely loved of the BlackBerry Margarita one of the best margueritas I've had in a long time
As beautiful as I remember, I have been there multiple times during this past years, it never disappoints me... The only thing that has changed since last year was the bloody Mary cocktail : I asked for a spicy one but it wasn't spicy at all, no black pepper like before, no celery like before, no taste like before. Beside that I love Sonsie
Great to see Sonsie still going strong! Still as good as ever
I made a reservation here for my birthday on Labor Day able to accommodate us a little earlier as we arrived earlier our family of four enjoyed avocado toast, bagel and lox, cheeseburger, and a chicken Caesar salad the server was attentive and friendly would definitely go back.
I have been to Sonsie multiple times. It is always great. The food is excellent and a great value. The staff is friendly and quick. I'll always come back for more!
Service was very slow. Even when they weren’t crowded. Waitress would not make eye contact with us when we needed assistance. I asked for a table by the doors to the outside. They told me that was fiat come first serve but one table did have a reserved sign on it. Food was edible, but not enjoyable.
Weekend lunch. Wanted to sit at patio seats near front window but arrangement was quite crowded. Bar seats instead as back dining area felt dark. Service was great. Very knowledgeable and friendly. GF pizza was ok. Frittata was bland. Sangrias were nothing special.
Awkward wine mixup experience. Food not particularly inspiring for dinner.
Great food, drinks and service. And perfect desserts!
You can't beat the location for people watching while you enjoy a drink and meal.
Food is great.
Very noisy restaurant, I couldn't talk to my friends because the music was too loud !
I asked the waiter to low down the volume, but nothing happened.
I ordered a classic Bloody Mary and I received a very spicy one, so I had to return, it was impossible to drink it.
Very dark inside, difficult to read the menu.
Perfect meeting spot for brunch with friends from out-of-town who were staying at a the Back Bay Hilton. Traditional brunch menu but with all the choices we needed. Service was friendly and efficiently. We stayed for a long time to catch up and no one hustled us out which has happened to me in busy brunch spots elsewhere in town.
Ottime le linguine con le vongole anche se forse troppo aglio
Sonsie is the best place to people watch on Newbury Street while enjoying a nice drink and meal. We had an excellent table by the open windows/doors to be able to do just that! Food and service were also very good. We heard a crash and it turned out to be our meal. The manager came over and told us and asked for our patience. The food came out shortly after that but he never offered anything while we waited for a second meal to be made up for the three of us during lunch. That was a slight disappointment. Other than that it was a very pleasant afternoon at Sonsie!
Service was very good but food came out very fast! Would go back again and space the order a bit more.... very good overall!
Buena comida. Quizá la carta podría ser más extensa.
Went for brunch. If the weather is nice try to get a seat in the window opening to Newbury street. Our server was definitely having a horrible day - attitude, slow service. Other tables came, ate, and went before she came to take our order. Just wasn’t a pleasant experience. Food is delicious so might come back to try again but the service was a huge turnoff.
Food was pretty average. We ordered quiche and granola with yogurt and berries. Lots of granola, very little yogurt. We did ask for more yogurt and they happily complied.
The service was great and the food was very good!
Sat in inside cafe section open to street early evening - very nice atmosphere and summer conditions. Very good food and service. Felt like local favorite with mostly a young crowd. Very enjoyable dinner.
Our server was very polite and tried very hard but she had a language barrier and did not know the menu. She struggled with words like "toast" and did not know what types of bread the restaurant served. She perhaps should have been shadowing a more experienced server.
Great place for food with friends! I did run into a lady changing the diaper of her baby on the women's bathroom floor though (maybe they should make the place a tiny bit more family friendly), but I am still giving this place 5 stars!!
The experience at Sonsie has given me a bit of hope in terms of dining in Newbury. Generally my experience had been overly-upscale restaurants serving uninspired, pedestrian dishes at an eye-watering price, couple with servers who are too good to service you.
Sonsie was a breath of fresh air. With our brunch reservation at peak hours, we were seated immediately. The front was open air, lending great natural lighting and a refreshing breeze. The food was very reasonably priced (~$10-20 per entree), large portions, and delicious. Our steak was thick and juicy, and the corned beef hash paired well with the poached eggs (although if I were to go back, I'd try ordering an extra egg and having the three eggs served scrambled instead of poached).
We had a really great experience there and hope to find other restaurants that can match that standard on Newbury Street.
Best mimosas in Boston. Quick service and delicious eggs Benedict!
The service is always fantastic! The food never disappoints. Three of the best meals I've ever had were at Sonsie. Bravo!
If you’re looking for a smooth, quiet ambiance, Sonsie’s around 6:30pm was pretty quiet. We were seated at the back of the dining area and there wasn’t much light, the table next to us had to use a flashlight to read their menu. Otherwise, the options of food were plenty. I had the linguine which was a reasonable portion and good if not for a bit too much garlic. The burger my friend had was delicious. The staff was friendly and service was very quick. It was a good experience overall, nothing terrible but nothing extraordinary either.
Great atmosphere for sharing with friends. We were celebrating a recent engagement and this was the perfect spot for frosé and apps!
Hostess was very accommodating in our choice of seating. Markup on alcohol seemed a bit higher than the average for that area/genre. The pork tenderloin was too salty and should have been cooked less. Wait service was attentive without seeming bothersome.
This was a great place to meet up with a long-time friend!
Food was not impressive. The waitress was awesome. My eggs benedict had too much English muffin to be tasty.
I went to undergrad and graduate school in Boston in the 90s and Sonsie was the new IT restaurant then. To our pleasant surprise it had not changed much in all these years! Still quite the scene but with perhaps better service, good quality food and very much the same ambience we knew and loved. Several of us met here for a lovely and nostalgic evening of food and drinks with our kids 🥰👏🍷
I’ve been to Sonsie several times in the past few years. I took my good friends to brunch this weekend, they have never been. Could not have been more embarrassed. Not only was my waitress extremely rude, but the food and beverages were very below average. I honestly always loved this place, but I’m afraid after this I will never go back here.
Sonsie provides a warm, glowing atmosphere with unbeatable Newbury Street-side service. The wine selection was great, and the Ceasar salad was the best I have had in a while. We both ordered seafood (linguine + clams, and the salmon) and both dishes were fantastic. I would definitely recommend Sonsie to anyone touring Boston, the location is unbeatable and easily accessible to all the great things Boston has to offer (located right next to the Hynes Convention Center T-stop on green line). Newbury Street is great in itself, and the fact that this restaurant is not a tourist trap is wonderful. And as a Boston resident I will definitely be coming back!
Great food. Good service. Went back the next night and sat at the bar. Great bartenders (remembered us from previous night).
Recommended place in the heart of Newbury street, the food is very good and the environment is inviting !
Never again tasteless over cooked and lousy service, the place was not even busy
Was fantastic service, really looked after well.food great and lots of it! A super experience!
Food is bad, service was horrible.
The restaurant is amazing, the food too, the only thing that we didn’t like was the server. She was rushing us and very impatient, she didn’t give a smile to us...
