very good food and good atmosphere and good service
My wife loved the ambience and food. This place is frequented by sports celb.
Went to Sonsie to celebrate 1 year anniversary and what made our experience was our server Lucas. He was so friendly and kind. He offered lemons with the water and the way he opened the wine bottle we ordered was fantastic. Everything we ordered was delicious and tasty.
We will come back for sure. Thanks Lucas again for the outstanding service!
Awesome!! Had 3 different dishes to share, all were A+
Sonsie is one of our personal favorites. Reliably delicious, great service, and a good atmosphere. We asked to move to a more cozy booth and I even asked if I could order from the lunch menu and they were happy to accommodate. If you haven't tried the hamburger pizza -- you need to. ASAP.
Its a nice place, love the drinks! The oysters and brunch was delicious. Customer service was excellent. The waitress checked on us frequently but didn't over due it. Positive attitude. Will recommend to friends :)
Food and service was spectacular! They were very quick and our server was friendly.
Limited dinner menu with only red meat or fish options but very cute place .
Everything was amazing!! Would 10/10 definitely return!!
I made the reservations weeks before Valentines Day. Upon arrival, due to a “technical glitch” they could not locate my reservation by name or telephone number. They did seat us at the correct time however, 7:30pm, next to the bathroom door which was NOT the only table available. We took it not knowing the unlabeled door was the bathroom. Then the hostess came over after we sat next to the bathroom and told us she located the reservation. We were given place settings well after our appetizer arrived. Our steaks were undercooked and a notch above raw, not the medium we both asked for. When we dove into the food, it was not hot. Two expensive steaks undercooked and not hot. How could one enjoy their evening. First and last time at Sonsie.
I had a reservation and table was ready, always a good start. Server (Cindy) was excellent which really added to the experience. Food came out on time and was very tasty. Overall every facet of our experience was excellent.
The food and service was great and the setting was comfortable. I’d definitely recommend this place to friends.
The food is great but horrible service. At one point there wasn’t a single employee on the floor. Impossible to get water refill or drinks. I want to like them but service just is so bad hard to want to go back again
Amazing service
The service was great some of the food was tasty. Although do not order the Mee Krob, we ordered two of them and they were both prepared differently and we didn't finish either of them. The other food was fantastic.
I went for brunch with my boyfriend and their brunch menu left much to be desired. The brunch menu is unbelievably short/small and they have a burger on their brunch menu that is no different than a burger you'd order for dinner. I ordered their two eggs any style with a side of a ham and the eggs were good but the potatoes that came with it were under-seasoned and somehow simultaneously over cooked and under cooked. My boyfriend ordered the burger because the brunch menu was so disappointing and the burger left much to be desired as well. I will say the coffee was great and the service was friendly. All in all, it was $50 for two eggs, a burger, and coffee and none of it was special. Would not recommend brunch here. Ambience was good though even if the music was a too loud.
Really good atmosphere
Incredible food as always! Highly recommend to anyone looking for an affordable and delicious meal!
My boyfriend and I are Back Bay residents and just got home & are still heated from a pretty terrible experience at Sonsie. Will start by saying our food and waitress were great, until it came down to paying the bill. We were informed that we couldn't pay with Discover (which is what we mainly use and is the most popular card for students & young professionals, and in a college-affiliated area we were shocked by this) so instead we paid with each of our Visa debit cards and both we were informed were declined for unknown reasons, we even checked both of our balances and both were completely fine, especially for only a $70 bill. I even asked if we could pay with Venmo, Cashapp, bitcoin, etc, and all were declined. So, the waitress suggested we pay with cash- which left me sitting alone in the restaurant while my boyfriend went on a wild goose chase to find an ATM that was open past 8pm. While waiting for my boyfriend to return, a manager asked if I could give up our table to someone else, just after being there less than an hour. Typically during COVID times at restaurants we're allotted an hour and a half to a table for two people, but I wasn't going to say no since we weren't ordering anymore food. Additionally, multiple tables around us were there before we arrived & were still there after I was asked to leave. I stood and waited by the front door until my boyfriend returned after walking around 2+ miles to find an open ATM. Please start taking Discover cards, we've never EVER had a problem like this before. Upon leaving we were both fuming from our separate experiences, safe to say we won't be back.
Happy to be out in the city and enjoy a "normal " experience at the restaurant with good food, drinks and ambiance.
Adapting to the pandemic. Everything spaced out. Bar area very wide open and the dining area divided by clear panels. Wait staff was fantastic. Made great recommendations and did not steer us wrong.
The food was awesome, but the champagne tasted sweet and cheap!
The perfect date night spot and amazing cocktails!
Great ambiance, wonderful service, great location. I had a great time with my partner
We dined at Sonsie for our family dinner on Xmas Eve 2020. There were 5 of us. We had heard great things about the place so we decided to try it. The service was very very slow. When we finally did get the chance to order.. the waiter forgot to bring one of our ordered food items to the table. We waited and waited for him to come to the table to check on us to remind him to bring it out to us but he did not come. Finally we had to get up from the table and ask for it at the wait staff station from another waiter. The salmon entre which was ordered was very expensive and did not taste very fresh. The bathrooms downstairs were not clean or sanitized. The meal overall was very expensive. We had higher expectations for our Xmas Eve experience. Unfortunately we will not be going back to Sonsie soon.
I love this place , my only issue was limited menu and it’s not their fault I get it . Can’t beat the ambiance or food !
Great brunch location. Bloody marys were amazing. We’ll be going again as soon as possible
The staff at Sonsie did everything to make us feel comfortable during COVID times. The food was delicious and well priced — especially for Newbury Street. The cocktails were also amazing.
Wonderfully clean and distanced. Pleasant staff, but a little slow. Food was delicious!
Food was fantastic and Covid precautions were well adhered to.
Restaurant was freezing inside, they kept the patio doors wide opened due to covid safety mesures, while the outside temp was 42°!!!!
Service was horrible, waitress needs to use a notepad when taking down orders (multiple messed up orders). Unfriendly staff. Only saving grace is that the food is good — when and if they get it right.

Our waiter looked like he had no clue about what he was doing, took him more than 20 minutes to approach to the table for the first time. Besides him everything was perfect.

Food was really bad. We had clams which were absolutely terrible – weird mix of seafood with pulled pork in tomato sauce and two pieces of dry bread. Truffle potato was mixed with poached egg and mushroom that looked disgusting. Pizza was okay but nothing special. Our waiter was trying to be nice, but he didn't care about anything. He did't ask anything when saw that we even didn't eat most of the food.

love this place. Get the espresso martini or live your life in sadness
Server was fantastic, food was wonderful. Had such a great experience
My friends and I normally really enjoy this restaurant. We go once a month and are never disappointed by neither the mood nor the food. However this time, for some unknown reason, while the mood was the same, the food ended up being a bit uncharacteristic. It was not bad, but it did not reach its usual quality.
