Arrived. We’re given a choice of dining room, cafe or high top seating. The ‘cafe’ is more the front area and seems more suited to drinks and snacks then going out to dinner. The high tops are more for bar, TV and a guys or girls night out. We selected the dining room. Hostess was good.

We were given a corner table along the bench bank. It took at least 7-10 minutes for our server. We saw her. She seemed to see us. But no stop by. When she came by she asked about drinks.

This was the service theme of the night. She did not come over to check on our food until we were 3/4s done. She only then asked about more drinks, too late, losing Sonsie revenue. In short, she seemed to be a poorly trained waitress.

I don’t recall being asked if we wanted dessert or coffee or given a dessert menu. By this time we were done being here anyway.

The restaurant otherwise is nice enough. The bar was active, albeit noisy. The location is great and the decor fine too. The French Onion soup was very good. The salmon was good but a plain dish. It was tasty though. The pot roast was also short on spice and flavor other than it’s bases of mean, onion, potato, etc. The French fries were so so.

To fill up and have an average meal it was fine. To pay in the $20s for each item - should be more like $18.95. The soup was the highlight.

I would go here again if someone said “We are going to Sonsie”. Would not be disappointed either. It was OK. But I would not book it myself again.

Friend got the avocado toast minus the poached eggs and I got the two eggs scrambled with sides. The gluten free menu was plentiful and I didn't feel trapped on what to order. My vegetarian friend loved how huge the pieces of avocado toast were. The service was mainly efficient; our server checked in on us a little too frequently and then took my friend's fork before she was finished. Our server also was a tad slow to give us the bill once we had finished. The atmosphere is very charming in there and we had a lovely table by the street. Great place for brunch. I highly recommend.

The food was overpriced for the quality. Very rich, almost congealed with butter.
The server was somewhat confused and inattentive. Would not go back for dinner. Brunch perhaps?

Was a shame to come back - we’d moved away over a dozen years ago and were back in town for a quick treat with our son - sharing some favorite old spots. While the place was as charming as ever and our server was lovely, there were some long unexplained waits (while folks all around us who arrived quite a bit later were served), and when our food arrived it was cold and not up to the standard we’d expect for the price. A disappointment.

Everything was great, and have been coming here for years. We were seated in the dinning room and food was great as per usual along with timeliness being on point. I’ve never failed to recommend Sonsie, but our waitress was prioritizing tables with a possible higher tip and forgot about us rather quickly despite us having a typical bill between the two of us. It was quite disappointing because it was the first time we’ve experienced this low of service here.

I will preface this by saying this is a Valentine’s Day review so that’s a whole other ballgame compared to a usual evening at Sonsie. Overall the food was great, our server was nice, but the service itself was a mess. We were sat without napkins or utensils. When food came, we asked for share plates, napkins and utensils. Someone brought us plates but no napkins or utensils so we had to ask again. Our server was nice but Valentine’s is not the day to go out. Someone else started clearing candles from tables while we were eating. Ok clear them from empty tables but not where guests are still sitting! It felt like we were being kicked out. The food was good, but the overall feeling was chaotic. By the time we were paying an hour after we sat down, they were clearing tablecloths from tables next to us and it all felt very rushed. I would come here for drinks and apps but probably not for a special occasion again.

Sonsie is consistent and has a great location. They sort of "pack them in" on Valentine' s day but it was still a nice dinner. Pricing is reasonable for Boston mid-range, and while the menu seemed to be a little less adventurous than previous visits, the food was well-prepared and presented. Less memorable than previous visits, but no hesitation in recommending Sonsie to friends looking for a nice dinner in the city.

I went on Valentine's Day and I loved the atmosphere and the seating. The distance between customers was perfect and the lighting was outstanding and I loved what the place looked like. However, I had a wobbly table (and apparently other people did too), that was slow to be fixed. The waiter said it was taken care of but nobody came to fix it until I asked again. There were also a number of other issues like forgetting to bring out silverware and bringing me the wrong receipt. That being said, the food was outstanding (drinks and dinner was some of the best I've ever had). The portions are slightly small but still decent size and much to enjoy. I had the apple crisp for dessert (which really wasn't an apple crisp) and it was really dry and powdery and unenjoyable. Overall, it's a pretty nice place with decent food for the price but not the best.

Waitress was great. Braised meatballs were good and the French onion and oxtail soup was great. Ceasar salad was so so. Nothing special about it. Prosciutto and fig pizza was way too salty. Almost impossible to eat. White chocolate cheesecake was great.

Restaurant itself was very dark. Tables very close to each other.

The environment and service at Sonsie were excellent; our waitress was kind and responsive and made us feel very comfortable.
The food, however, was just so-so. Our dishes were over-sauced and the meat (I had the pot roast) was extremely fatty. It was definitely overpriced for the quality.

Our family had a terrific experience at Sonsie over the weekend celebrating our daughter's 16th birthday. The food and drinks were delicious, but even more remarkable than that, we had the most wonderful waitress. She was so attentive and friendly and provided excellent service. We were very pleased that we chose Sonsie to celebrate our special event.

Met a college friend for dinner and wanted to catch up on the last 10 years - need a quiet table and not to be rushed. We were seated in a corner of the main dining room and it wasn’t busy at all (Tuesday night). Our server was attentive and recognized our intent. We started with oyster shooters, highly recommended and moved straight into the entrees. The food was excellent, ambience perfect and I hope to return in the near future!

We’ve been to Sonsie before and this was the first revisit with baby! The greeter was able to seat us at a comfortable both nearer to back since we had our baby car seat 👍🏽 Our server was very chill and informed on the menu. We enjoyed the meal though it did take a while to come out 🙃 All in all a nice spot on Sunday afternoon. Thank you

A quick escape away from the hub bub of an annual meeting and trade show at the Hynes Convention Center was a perfect lunch at Sonsie. I had the frisee salad with crispy, flavorful bacon, and a poached egg on top. We were seated at the back, which didn't have the street activity view but was peaceful and appropriate for conversation. I still love Sonsie, after all these years.

Had a great time getting together with family from across the city. Our waitress was very pleasant and didn’t rush us when one member was late to arrive. However, we did feel pressured to leave once we paid the bill (which is understandable) but there were empty tables near us which made it a bit off-putting.

The hosts were very warm and welcoming! I really enjoyed sitting in the cafe area, it was lovely and pretty quiet. The atmosphere to this restaurant is overall very warm, nice but not too formal.

My server, Maya, was incredibly nice and wonderful, very attentive and I never had to wait long for anything.

I had the salmon, which was incredibly delicious, with very crispy skin, and the lemon sauce was great.
For dessert I had the raspberry sorbet, which was a bit grainy, but tart and fruity. I also had some hot chocolate which was rich and dark.
Overall, a really nice meal! Definitely recommend coming here, and I will definitely be back.

Experience was a bit disappointing. I made reservations to celebrate my brothers birthday and left a note with the reservations to make sure we did something to celebrate. This did not happen. Some of the food that was ordered was delicious, others were mediocre. All in all, I regretted selecting this restaurant

The two other people in my party got to the restaurant before me and were sat at the table. When I went in and gave my name, the host told me to go look around for my group. I asked if he could direct me to where the table was, as it was a busy, dark restaurant and he said no, he couldn’t and told me again to go look around to find them. Very poor customer service.

Lovely place for a late-night, post work meal with friends. The place was relatively empty, allowing us seating near the beautiful windows at the front of the restaurant. Our waitress quickly got our drink and then food order. I highly recommend the fig and prosciutto pizza!

I loved the location of this restaurant because it was not around a lot of commotion. I loved the small vibe of this place. The food was delicious and the ouster’s were to die for. I got the white cranberry sangria and it was so good. Absolutely recommend this place. Only thing was it got very loud but it was NYE.

Service was good, food was good but if you plan on having a conversation over the meal -prepare to lose your voice from yelling for an hour.
