Sonsie - Boston
The restaurant is amazing, the food too, the only thing that we didn’t like was the server. She was rushing us and very impatient, she didn’t give a smile to us...
Great food and service
It was very good overall but was a very hot day and there didn’t seem to be much air conditioning on.
My daughter and her husband took us out to Sonsie. Most reviews were positive but that was not our experience. The service was very slow. They brought my son’s-in law dinner out 30 minutes out before ours. He was finished when ours arrived. My daughter’s fish was way over cooked. The staff seemed flustered to the point we really didn’t know who our server was. Overall disappointing.
The interior needs a major clean. There are cobwebs hanging from the lights, pictures and lights are askew, menus were dirty and some unreadable because the ink was too light. Overall, there was a general feel of dinginess.
The food was so-so and took a long time to be served.
I would not recommend this place. It’s gone downhill over the years!
Excellent all phases !! As we entered & exited, service & food tremendous !!
Fourth of July
Service was great and the food came out quickly (especially the starter). The main course was great (linguini), but the lobster spring rolls had so little lobster in them that I couldn’t taste it—they were 90% carrots. To mirror some other reviews here, the chocolate bread pudding was lovely, albeit very dense—some tart berries would improve it a lot, but sharing works just as well!
I had a wonderful experience at Sonsie! The menu is very unique all around and I appreciate the options! My date and I did it "tapas style" and it was delicious. The atmosphere was lovely and service was well timed/efficient but never intrusive. I would recommend.
The food wasn’t worth it. The chowder was good but everything else is mediocre. However the playlist was straight fire. Could be some indie night club. Go for the vibes maybe not the food.
Great service. Great vibe and food was fantastic
Went there 2 days in a row for lunch. It was like 2 different restaurants. Service so slow today . Pizza soggy and was perfect the day before. Clearly there seemed to be a problem all around. Not consistent waited 35 min for lunch order to be brought to the table.
There was an on obnoxious sound coming from the speaker or A/C vent near our table that was loud enough to disturb our discussion. We reported it but nothing was done about it. It persisted the entire meal.
Gianna was excellent and knew exactly how to take care of a family with kids!!
Everything was awesome I just wish it had better lighting for pictures but I loved it!!!!
Loved the food and the bistro tables up front! Will certainly be back for the weekday brunch!
We were there, with friends from the Cape, for my wife’s birthday. The waitress, Denise, was very knowledgable about the menu and attentive.
The food was of a high quality and we particularly enjoyed the Oyster shooters; which brought tears to our eyes!
All in all a very enjoyable experience, and would thoroughly recommend to anyone visiting Boston. We will certainly try and visit again when we are next over there.
The food was pretty good, but, the whole time, it felt like our waitress was rushing my friend and I to finish our food when the restaurant was practically empty. When I finished my food and my friend was taking her time with hers, our waitress came by the table every two minutes asking “May I take the plate away?”, consistently interrupting our conversation just to take away the plate my friend WAS NOT finished with.
Had dinner here with a friend on a nice evening. Food was good and server was helpful when she was around. It felt like multiple requests had to be made multiple times because we were just waiting and waiting. That was the only downside to an otherwise pleasant meal.
Very disappointed in the food. I use to come here all the time but the frittata was the worst frittata I ever had and so bland. Nothing like the way they use to make it. And the sweet potato hash was burned
This was our second visit to Sonsie. The first time, we just happened on it, and got a table. The second time we wanted to go, we realized we should have made a reservation. This time, I used OpenTable and we had a fabulous brunch. I especially appreciate a bountiful selection of gluten free items. I had a delicious frittata with a side of bacon cooked to perfection. That is a big deal to me, because so many places serve flimsy bacon! Love, love Sonsie and will most definitely return!
It’s much too loud to go for dinner. I went with a group of 6 at 7pm on a Friday and could not hear half of what my friends were saying. However, I have heard only great things about brunch. Maybe it’s less loud at brunch. The food was okay. Service was great!
Had the meatballs and the asparagus salad - delish! Not too heavy but full of flavor. Great spot to hang and just enjoy an afternoon or evening
Went for brunch. The chowder, avocado toast and lox bagel were great. The corned beef and sweet potato hash was not good. Great atmosphere. Servers rushed us a bit.
Really good food, but the restaurant was SO noisy we had trouble hearing each other, even though we were at a corner table. It was also a beautiful day but the restaurant is extremely dark, even though the restaurant was open to the street. Service was outstanding, but if you want a dinner with conversation, I would find another restaurant
Great service at Sonsie! This was my first visit for brunch on a day other than Sunday. It was excellent as we included the meal with the Espresso Martinis! Amazing!
Food was good. We had the brick oven pizza which actually was very good, and a salad with goat cheese in it, very good. I had a glass of Pinot Grigio, very expensive, $11 for 6 ounces of wine. The setting was nice, but it was very loud. Overall was good, would’ve been better if it was quieter .
I have been to Sonsie in the past and had a positive opinion of this restaurant so I didn't hesitate to go there again last evening. I was, however, very disappointed. It wasn't busy yet it took the wait staff over 10 minutes to bring us water, never mind a menu, etc. We decided to each order a pizza (personal size) and mine was mediocre at best. I elected to go with the fig, prosciutto and arugula selection and was advised they were out of figs..... I went with it anyway which was a mistake. There was very little tomato sauce on it, it was overcooked and dry. My guest said his pizza was "fine" but I think he was being kind. Won't be going back there again any time soon.
To say I was disappointed is an understatement! This was a recommended stop in Boston that we should have SKIPPED!! Service was abysmal and the food was marginal!! Caesar Salad was SOAKED in dressing...Lobster Roll was watery....the bread was good! Would suggest they fix their service and hire a decent chief!
The pork tenderloin was cooked just right, and the mushrooms and fava beans on the side were so delicious! My friend also enjoyed her burger a lot. I'll definitely come back some time soon to try their brunch menu.
Ok not great.
It was great!
Wonderful experience both at the bar and at our table once seated.
We ordered the chicken. It was all legs and a lot of bones. Very hard to eat and not much meat. We usually like Sonsi's, I just think we made the wrong choice for entree.
Will try again....wont' get the chicken!!
This was a great place to celebrate a special occasion with a few family members
First time dining at Sonsie. Server was excellent and the was food was very good, though I had to send mine back, they topped my stuffed French toasts with crushed peanuts that wasn’t in the meal description and that I didn’t want. Second plate looked fresher and more appetizing than the first. The four of us all enjoyed our meals. Ambiance is dark red walls and they could use a fresh coat of paint. Artwork is a bit strange, women in fancy dresses pictured from the neck down holding large tools. AC was on and they opened the front which let more cool air in, had to put my raincoat on to stay comfortable. Carpet leading to basement rest rooms is in need of replacing. Rest room needs better lighting. We were celebrating a birthday and the server brought us four complimentary espresso shots which were amazing! Overall we enjoyed the brunch and will likely return, with a sweater.
Perfect place to celebrate! Wonderful dinner, great service by Cindy, fantastic dessert. Highly recommend!
Graduation! Every time, we come back to Boston we have to go to Sonsie!! Great food! Our waitress was amazing! Love it!! Thanks!!
Nice to sit by the street with the doors open...but loud (it was a Friday night)
Had the steak frites. Over cooked. Tough meat. Service was fine!
