Fine dining that doesn't take itself too seriously. Sons & Daughters is definitely our speed.

But on the night I was there every item was prepared to absolute perfection.
I have eaten at many fine restaurants and this one is definitely worth going out of your way for.

An evening of exquisite tastes. Every morsel was an adventure. Loved the combinations of texture, tastes, and visual presentation. The service was warm, informative, sophisticated, yet unpretentious. I felt I needed to take notes with every course and pairing description, but we were given the detailed menu of what we ate and drank afterward.
This was a fabulous three-hour treat on my birthday.

Fantastic meal, we chose Sons and Daughters for a Michelin experience in San Fran. We were not disappointed. The staff took the time to indulge us in the exclusive tasting menu and the sommelier was exceptional. Thanks to the restaurant for an amazing evening. We will be back.
One of my favorite restaurant in SF. It is worth paying.
Pricey and not a lot of options due to prix fixed menu but most of the food was good and they were accommodating enough to substitute an entree when we preferred not to eat the sweet breads. Overall a pleasant and luxurious experience. The Duck confit was a bit salty for my taste otherwise dishes were great.
Awesome food and the wine pairing was even better. Will definitely come back.
The Somm was phenomenal, the pairing was awesome and on point. The food however, left a lot to be desired. For the price that we paid over 800 for 2 people I walked away super disappointed at the food for a few reasons.
1) The fish dish was so bad I couldn't finish it
2) The main entree came with two slices of duck
Maybe I just eat a lot but I was hungry after. So much so that I went home and had ramen.

This meal was fantastic! Every course was thoughtfully prepared with great taste and balance. The staff clearly worked together as a team to orchestrate the perfect experience.
We have been going to Sons&Daughters since they opened. Now they are famous, and rightly so. There is no other option besides the chef picked menu unless one has allergies but each course is thoughtful and inventive without being weird. My only objection this time was too much salt in the trout dish but that is minor. This restaurant is every inch a champion.
This is one of the best restaurants we have ever eaten at. Spectacular servings. Very unusual flavors. Very earthy and very satisfying. .
Wonderful experience. Delicious tasting menu, beautiful presentation, wine paring worth it’s quality and presentation. An unusually quiet setting which adds to the ambiance.

I have a creeping anxiety that not enough people know about Sons & Daughters, and that I might find it difficult to book a meal here in the future if more people find out about it.
Allow me to explain:
After my dining experience here, and it truly is an experience, I don’t understand why there is not more buzz about this restaurant, or more Michelin stars attached to it for that matter. Perhaps the best analogy for a meal here is a comparison to an authentic kaiseki meal in Japan. There is a level of attention to detail to each dish that it leaves no doubt of the chef’s intent when the dish was conceptualized. Each ingredient has its place, and everything works together to create a multifaceted sensory experience on the diner’s palate.
Now, to describe the food in that manner is actually unfair because it is a distilled and sterile description. However, there are times when you eat a meal at a Michelin starred restaurant and it almost feels like you are in the midst of a watching a surgeon perform a surgery. Everything is so refined, yet cold. A meal at Sons & Daughters is that level of detail and intent, with a sense of warmth and being welcomed.
If you are considering a special meal here, do not hesitate.

The food was okay, but the service was exceptional.
I feel like the food quality has gone down significantly from the last time I was there almost two years ago. I remember each dish being memorable previously and this time it was really salty and uneventful unfortunately. The service has gone down as well...several moments when the wine glass was low and no one around to pour and we also received someone else’s check. The restaurant wasn’t at capacity either.
Everything was great. We enjoyed the overall experience.

We were here years ago for a b day. Tonight was weak. Over 700- for a very mediocre meal. We came back because we enjoyed it. Not at all a good meal. Over salted and at times cold dishes that shouldn’t have been. We were at The Progress the night before. 1/2 the price and 4X the experience. Saison looks like a bargain! Quality is way way low. Skip this place.
The evening was great. A charming local, small spot on Bush St in SF. We were greeted at the door by name. The staff was as fantastic as was the food. We enjoyed ourselves and will definitely return.
I had previously shared my dietary restrictions for both myself and my friend which were both ignored. I expect better from a Michelin Star Restaurant. The food that we could eat was quite good. Dessert was a miss, sweet potatoes shouldn’t be used in dessert.
Wonderful dinner - I would highly recommend for special evening.

The service was perfect, food portions were perfect to enjoy all courses, wine pairing was spot on. Appreciated the creativity of all dishes. The ambience was ideal - noise level was superb.

Incredibly over-wrought and underwhelming...it will be surprising if they retain their Michelin single star. Food was incredibly derivative and uninspired. The wine steward was ill informed with her lack of customer service exceeded by her pretentiousness. Table for two with wines pairings was over $1,000! Not worth the effort, trip, and most certainly not a value.
The best thing about the restaurant was the sommelier. She was knowledgeable, creative, and very personable. The food was just OK. Ideas were good but execution was a bit heavy handed even though it looked great. The tab was way too high. I've been to higher priced prix fix restaurants but one needs to feel you get what you pay for and they fell short.

Very impressed. The service was excellent, the atmosphere quiet and cozy and the food was so artistic, creative and delicious. Two out of four of us.are vegan/plant based and we were so impressed with each and every dish we were served. It was fun being able to compare the vegan and the non-vegan dishes. Thank you so much for such a memorable evening!
