Awesome meal... amazing service
Nice welcome, but from we sat down the experience was not a star quality experience at all. We felt rushed all the way, and not being able to sit down an relax around a good meal. The sommelier and the kitchen was not serving things at the same time, and we got our first course before we had anything to drink. The sommelier was not up to date with her charts and we had empty glasses quite often, but did an ok recommendation when we didn’t had the wine pairing. Food wise there wasn’t any connectedness in the dishes except for some green, oily sauce. Cold scallops was a disappointment and a cold, too rare steak the same. A good thing was that the food looked good on the plate. Service level was pleasant, but there were way too many waiters, and again no connection with the sommelier, so we had to ask for the correct wine. Coming from Europe, where stars hang high, we can’t believe how this food is worth a star.
Favorite restaurant in SF hands down! Personalized experience!
Sons and Daughters was a lovely experience from start to finish. From the friendly texts prior to our dinner to the parting gifts of a personalized menu with homemade truffles. The tasting menu was varied and impeccably prepared. The wine pairings were some of the most unique we have ever had and all paired perfectly with the courses. The staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and wines.
Excellent food and service. I wish we could enjoy ourselves every evening like the one we experienced at Sons & Daughters.
Attentive in every regard. Wine pairing, though expensive, was worth the upcharge. The wine program is fantastic. To grossly generalize, I would say that the kitchen's current menu prioritizes texture over taste in a pleasing way. The food was more interesting than savory, more evocative than sublime. Portions and pacing were on point. The personalized menus (with wine pairings noted!) were a nice touch. One negative: hand soap in the bathroom should be unscented but the facilities otherwise are top notch.
Just amazing! One of the best restaurant experiences ever. Great attention to detail---every bite was special. Service was impeccable. Can't wait to go again.
Off the charts great! A full meal experience!
This is our favorite restaurant in the area. The experience is always exquisite.
Really good value for money. We were very happy with the service. Would recommend!
Staff was great and food really good. However the sitting space is not ideal as it is too cramped and conversations from other tables. But great service And food...
One of the most memorable meal! impeccable service and the food is simply amazing!
My fiancé and I had a beautiful experience at Sons & Daughters. Fine dining, but in a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. The wine was especially on point. 👌🏻
Uninteresting food, no standout dish, and overall lower than expected when compared to other similarly positioned establishments in SF. Disappointed.
We could not have had a more perfect anniversary dinner and experience. The atmosphere is cozy and personal. The service is impeccable and the food is exquisite! A marvelous dining experience!!!
My companion was ill immediately following this meal. Given the price, that’s not something you’d expect. Servers, however, were extremely solicitous.
Amazing, leisurely paced meal. Exceptional wine pairing. Exceptional service.
This was the best dining experience that we’ve had in over 10 years living in SanFrancisco. On all fronts, it raised the bar high for future other favorite restaurants. From the beginning and throughout, it was dazzling and certainly memorable. We look forward to our next visit to Sons and Daughters. Thank you.
We had the tasting menu with wine pairing and it was the truly one of the best meals I've ever had, and I dine personally and on business around the world. The food was inventive and superb (all of it could have been a scene out of "Chef's Table"); the service was impeccable, attentive and professional; the wine program was fantastic, with a broad set of selections from around the world perfectly complimenting the food, and with wonderful illustrative information shared by the somm at each pouring. Upon leaving, we were presented with a personalized menu of our meal and a small box of homemade truffles--there was truly no room for improvement in this meal, and the dining room is intimate and beautiful.
Always fantastic - the tasting menu changes based on what is fresh, and each dish is something I would eat a whole big plate of. Truly excellent.
We came to the restaurant for our anniversary dinner and it turned out to be an incredible experience! Every dish was amazing - fresh and complex. The entire mea was a journey and, looking back, there was a really nice rhythm to the meal. We had additional treats along the way and also really enjoyed all of the plates that were used for each dish. It was a joy! We would definitely come back again!
Wanted to love this experience, but the food and wine just did not deliver on the taste and quality. When there is a significant miss on 3 of the 7 courses, it is hard to justify not just going to a great San Fran restaurant and ordering something amazing. Definitely skip the wine pairings and just spend $200 on your favorite wine as the selections fell flat and did not feel worthy of the spend. Would have been much happier to have one good bottle . Service was good, but did not seem to care that food was going back on multiple courses and not consumed. More work to be done to be 3, 4 or 5 stars on food. Recommend passing as just did not deliver anything but regret on our last night in the city.
It was FANTASTIC!
Amazing evening. Service outstanding. Food out of this world with a nice surprise at the end of the meal. Would highly recommend.
This was our first time at this restaurant and I brought my son for his birthday. I can honestly say it was one of the best dinners I’ve ever had in my life and I’ve had a lot of good food in my life! Every single dish was perfect the flavors were amazing and I can’t tell you how pleased and excited I was and how good this restaurant is. We had the wine pairing, however we did split it because it’s a lot of wine for me and I’m so glad we did because the ones they chose were perfect with every dish. The service could not have been more superb.
Fantastic food and service
The food was delicious, and the service was above and beyond. For example, each time a table member went to the bathroom, a staff would accompany us, open the door, close the door and lock.
If you are sensitive to price, the price tag might be a bit high for what you are getting which is why I put it as 4 stars.
Other than that, it was an enjoyable experience overall.
Wonderful from beginning to end. Service was very friendly and knowledgeable. Food was phenomenal and exceeded our expectations. The ambiance was cozy and pleasant. We would definitely recommend this amazing SF gem.
Outstanding. From the personal greeting, through the very attentive service and the imaginative and delicious food, this is a great experience.
One slight negative, the caviar supplement is creative, but the food pairing with the caviar (chicken base, too spicy sauce) does not compliment the caviar. It needs to be changed.
Inventive and passionate meal!
Very interesting, creative and well crafted cuisine with a strong personality. The service is impeccable. Very expensive wine pairing. Expensive wine list, in fact it is hard to find wines for less than $100. Very limited selection of wines by the glass. No table cloths, which makes for a rustic feeling that feels cheap. Besides, the beautiful wood of the tables feels sticky. Definitely not appropriate for a high end restaurant.
The quantity original dishes were appropriate for wine tasting and lady’s stomach. Seafood was very fresh. Surprisingly, home-made breads were soft and chewy, which went well with dishes.
Superior food with an 8 course meal. Excellent wine pairings as well. Accommodated all of our food preferences in a memorable bespoke way. Highest recommendation.
Fantastic experience, food was exciting with many different flavors. Service was good, but the one waiter was a bit awkward which creeped out my client. The personalized card at the end was A+++ !!!
Absolutely wonderful dining experience- three of us celebrated a birthday and had the 8 courses accompanied by the wine pairings. Service was beyond compare but the dishes were outstanding. Never been a fan of oysters but their oyster dish converted me; the venison dishes were my favorite and all the snacks and the homemade sourdough bread and speciality butter .... so mouth watering. The entire experience was very refined and enjoyable; and worth splurging for. Wines of course were excellently paired and very tasty. Special care was even paid to the restroom which is unusual and much appreciated. Highly recommend.
Was a really pleasant experience. Food came out at a moderate, but quick pace. Did not have to wait long in between courses.
Perfect place for my celebratory dinner.
Amazing, as always! This dinner they went above and beyond to make my joint birthday dinner special. Thank you to all S&D Staff for an awesome evening.
Food does not achieve the level of this kind of restaurant, it has pretension and quality but it lacks of the brightness of the highest cuisine.
