My steak was undercooked, twice. Our server was excellent at trying to get it done right, but it was a 6oz filet and can only go back to the grill so many times. We got a discount as a result. Charcuterie was good. Wine selection for a “wine bar” is meh. But...after all...it’s a Marriott.
Service was a little slow on Christmas and yet most tables were empty. Our table was on the main path to the kitchen and my chair was bumped twice. I asked to be moved to another table and the wait staff told me no as the tables were reserved. Also, she would not honor a coupon I pulled from their webpage that same day. Although the food was great, not sure if we will be back next holiday season.
Service was slow and not very good, even though there were only a few tables in the restaurant on a Friday night. The food was mediocre - I ordered the chicken palliard and the risotto and asparagus tasted like margarine. I was not impressed and will not be back again.
We always have a good meal here. The chicken tortilla soup was outstanding - full of big chunks of chicken. The chop salad was also very good with generous portions of chicken there as well. I didn't care for the flatbread - too crispy, almost like a matzoh pizza, but I'm getting disillusioned with ordering flatbread anywhere lately. Sometimes the crust is good but the toppings skimpy. The soup and chop salad was enough of a meal anyway - very generous portions.
This was my second visit to Sonoma'z and it was for lunch on both occasions. While the patio is next to the parking lot, the wall and the flowers make it very attractive and it is hard to find a nice outdoor place for lunch in the area. The food is good and the service was great both times - attentive but not intrusive. Our server, Laura, was very good.
The food and drinks were absolutely fabulous! The place was extremely quiet - hardly anybody was there on the Thursday night that we went. The food and drinks were fabulous and the server was excellent too. A bit pricey - but great for a special occasion. Being a restaurant in a hotel, I would have never known about this if wasn't for the Groupon that we bought and used - which made the price a whole lot more reasonable.
Hit & Miss on food - uninspired Ambiance:
We had the spicy chicken wings as an appetizer and they were outstanding - among the best we've had and a nice change from buffalo style - sweet, tangy with a good kick. The Caesar Salad was very good as well. The cedar planked salmon was delicious and the risotto on the side should be served as an entrée risotto - both were excellent. I had the New York Strip with blue cheese fries. While the steak was cooked as ordered, it turned out to have 3-4 bites that were nothing but very tough grizzle and the whole steak was tough to cut. The "caramelized onions" seemed more steamed than caramelized and the blue cheese fries were very average soggy fast-food style fries with some shreds of blue cheese sprinkled over them. There were a few pieces of mushroom with the steak but not a ragout. Over all - I would recommend the wings, salad and salmon but avoid the NY Strip. The service was attentive and friendly. There was a weird thing with the ambiance - the 2-top tables are way too big - too deep end-to-end. We had a very hard time talking across the seemingly 42" or wider table and had a tough time reaching across the table to share the wings and S&P. I never thought I would want a smaller table but in this case the large size impeded any sense of a date. The ambiance is generic hotel - neither objectionable nor enticing. The location is great for pre-theater before a Lone-Tree Arts Center concert!
Fantastic restaurant for being inside a Marriott Hotel. The food was very tasty and the wine selection is wonderful. Be prepared to pay hotel pricing for the entrees. Get the guacamole during Happy Hour (4-6pm). It is a 'bucket' of homemade guac for a very good price.
The shrimp appetizer was delicious and we both enjoyed that. My tenderloin was good, but the wine sauce that accompanied it was too sweet. My husband's ribeye steak had the most fat of any ribeye we've ever ordered. The sides were good. We split a cheesecake for dessert and it was very good with whipped cream and fresh berries as well as a compote which we asked to be on the side. Although our server was friendly and helpful, service was extremely slow. We noticed that she also worked in the bar area and being in two areas--dining room and bar--might account for the problem.
I hadn't realized that this was a hotel restaurant when I made the reservations (it's inside the Marriott) or else I might've skipped it.
Unlike many wine bars, this one did not offer wine flights. But I did find a yummy Sauvignon Blanc for $15 a glass. The food that we ordered was just OK. I ordered the butternut squash ravioli and found it bland and greasy. My daughter ordered the margarita flatbread and it was pretty tasty. Service was fine. Ambience is typical Marriott.

Great service on a quiet Friday night. This restaurant sits in a hotel. Good atmosphere and good food. The dishes were each a touch spicier than I would have expected, but overall, very good. It was a nice place to get away from the larger crowds around other restaurants in the Park Meadows area.
My wife and I went for our anniversary.Our server was excellent. Seated us next to fireplace so that was nice. The manager had the chef prepare a special dessert with a congratulations message free of charge. Topped the night off perfectly. Very nice experience. Nice wine list as well. We recommend trying Somoma'z out.
This is a Marriott hotel restaurant. It is actually better than many Marriott hotel restaurants. We initially went there since it's a 1,000 point dine, and really enjoyed our meal. We had beet salad, grilled shrimp, and the cedar plank salmon. There is a decent wine selection and the restaurant has a nice ambiance and is mostly quiet (unless there is a hotel event). We've dined there three times and this was our fourth. The only complaint we have is the service. There is one server in particular, whom we've had on all our dining occasions, who is just simply unpleasant and each time we've dined the service has gotten progressively and gradually worse. On our last visit, the service was quite poor (complete lack of attentiveness) and when we noted to our server that the salmon was uncharacteristically "fishy," her response was "oh well.... you have had it before." That was it! No offer to amend the final bill, to re-serve, or even an expression of regret. After a few visits where we were happy with the food but not thrilled with the service, we kept returning because we enjoyed our meals. This time was the final straw and we do not plan to return.
Went there for thanksgiving dinner. Though it was a buffet, the food was ok to mediocre. The service was subpar. Way overpriced for the experience and they automatically applied 18% gratuity even though there were only 4 of us and all the waiter had to do was bring us drinks.
You know... Hotel restaurant. The server was very good, nice, and attentive. It wasn't very busy -- we made a reservation but completely unnecessary, unless you are going for the +1000 open table reservation, like us. My wife and I had a fine date night here. Good atmosphere, new building with a modern feel. The grilled shrimp appetizer was good, and we were feeling confident about our open table +1000 point reservation after that. My wife had the Chop-chop chicken salad for dinner. Although her dinner selection was far from exciting (salad), she is a very fun person to be around. I just love her so much. She gave it a "B." My dinner was the bass--overall mediocre: C. The risotto with the dish needed salt or something.
