SENT MY MAIN DISH BACK- TO BE REPLACED BY MEALY, FROZEN SHRIMP COCKTAIL THAT WAS INEDIBLE. THE ONLY GOOD THING I HAVE TO SAY IS I LIKED THE DESERT. WILL NEVER GO BACK. USED TO GO WHEN IT WAS IN PRINCETON AND LOVED IT!
Already wrote a review on TripAdvisor...check it out there!
Everything was great...except I thought it was a bit pricey. Still, I will be going there again!
The food was amazing and the service outstanding. I met a long time friend and it was a wonderful place to catch up and talk. It was a very quiet and relaxed atmosphere. I will definitely go back and would like to try and sit outside and look at the views of the city.
The best restaurant in the area. Food was absolutely delicious.
Sonoma food is excellent and service was excellent. From appetizer through dessert our favorite restaurant.
We have been patrons of Sonoma for many years now, always on special occasions. We have never had less than an excellent experience there. But we were worried about their move from Princeton to the Beechwood. Our worries were put to rest last Saturday. All that we valued about Sonoma was still part of the experience, and what changes there are were all positive.
I had requested a Birthday recognition for 1 member in the party and it did not happen.
As always, Sonoma provided us with a terrific evening out. Service was great and food was outstanding!
Dinner is always a treat. Our server Jessica did an outstanding job at caring for our every need.
The food at Sonoma’s is incredible. Highly recommend the Resturant.
Usually go to dinner on special occasions and love it. This time we went for lunch to give it a try. It was very enjoyable but still prefer the evening dinner menu and the more intimate seating location.
My husband and I dined at Sonoma when it was located in Princeton. We have been to the Worcester location three times now and I can say they transitioned successfully. In fact, the atmosphere is nicer while nothing has been sacrificed on the dining end. It's a favorite go to spot and not just for a special occasion.
This is no longer the Sonoma we came to love from Princeton. Our third or forth time back since the transition and it will likely be our last. We said that last time but gave it one last chance. It has gone down hill steadily. Initially it was still very close except for the lack of charm and intimacy from the old location. Everything across the board now has dropped by a couple notches.
Saturday night early seating and out of popular steak cut. Still several empty seats throughout the night. Unheard of at the old place.
There was only a single special entree when there used to be 2-3. The standard menu seems a little smaller and less interesting, but we as semi-regulars (4 times a year) we used to come mostly for the specials. Now they seem to be catering to the hotel crowd who do t care about that as much. Prices have risen but the quality has dropped.
Waitress hadn’t memorized the specials. Didn’t know anything about red wines and did not get someone who did. They used to have a steward/sommelier. Wait staff used to be extremely knowledgeable about every dish. No more.
Quality and complexity of the food was off. Good but not great. Balance of flavors were off. Stuffed veal at $49 was overpowered by the sausage stuffing. Salmon in pastry special was better. One soup over salted, the other lacking dimension. Sauces were ok but not outstanding. Used to love the medley of sides but those are gone. The sides were ok but nothing to write home about.
At least they still have the acoustic guitarist who does a terrific job of creating the atmosphere.
They used to be able to justify the Nantucket level prices because everything was outstanding and memorable. Now it is sadly disappointing
We were hoping to sit on the patio but it was raining... so we dined inside and really enjoyed ourselves. The live music was an unexpected treat.
They sent out a Scallop entree, but I had ordered Chicken Madeira. The correct dish arrived fairly quickly, however you could tell they rushed it. The sauce had a grainy, thin texture, and pretty awful quite frankly. My wife's Stuffed Veal WAS excellent, but at nearly 50 dollars over priced. We used to visit Sonoma at its Princeton location annually, but I don't think we'll be back anytime soon. There are better options if we're making the trip down to Worcester.
For the prices on the menu you'd expect to be blown away, we were not. Can spend half the price for same quality elsewhere.
First time at Sonoma since they moved. Great Food, great service, they have lost nothing since moving to their new location. Will definitely go back.
Beautiful summer night on the patio. Live classical guitar. Great steak cooked rare with a wonderful bottle of wine. The au gratin potatoes in the mini cast iron pan was a nice touch. Red snapper cooked and seasoned perfectly. Attentive service from Patricia. Life is good.
Seemed to recall being a lot more impressed by the old Sonoma even though it's been quite a while since dining there last. The server was very good, but overall just not worth the cost.
Excellent food and a nice wine selection. Great service. Made for a wonderful birthday meal.
They were out of 3 dishes on the menu. I noted in the reservation we were celebrating a birthday, they did not acknowledge this or bring it up. Dessert cart did not have 1 dessert with chocolate in it, which was odd. Overall, a very disappointing and over prices experience. Will not be returning.
For the price the food was average. Not happy about a $230 bill for four people with only 2 drinks ordered.
We ate at the previous location years ago and it was a meal we still talk about!! Loved it. This time was a different story all together!! Drinks took forever and waitress apologized stating bar was backed up. So we started to order drinks ahead of when we really needed them. But all good - no rush hanging with friends. I had been thinking of the steak all week, was so excited!! My meal arrived - steak over cooked - no pink whatsoever and the potatoes au gratin was raw!! I sent it back, said I knew wasn’t her fault, and just asked for the tomato and mozzarella salad. Well, I swear the mozzarella was sandwich slices as they were super thin and square. And the real kicker - nothing was comped - not the crappy salad, not here have a drink on us - NOTHING.
Probably not going back soon and will share experience with all I run into!
As it was our first visit since Sonoma's relocation, we expected a fair amount of change, but what was surprising was how they reproduced many of the same strengths and weaknesses of the original. The menu seemed less original but execution was more consistent. Service remains really uneven: friendly, but slow and absent-minded. Prices seem higher - not sure that's warranted; the food is good but for the most part not especially memorable, and one is safer ordering wine than mixed drinks. One new thing is an outdoor dining option that is pretty good by Worcester standards. In conclusion: Sonoma remains a good restaurant if you don't mind the pricetag, but not the outstanding destination it used to be.
Not going back again!
As always, wonderful...
Complimentary appetizer was excellent. Service was superb.
We will be back. Only wish I could have said hello to Bill.
First, the food was excellent. I had the stuffed veal chop, my wife had pan seared snapper. We also ordered oysters on the half shell and got oysters Rockefeller. The kitchen acknowledged the error and gave us both. The oysters Rockefeller were decadent . The outside bartender stepped in to provide great table service.
Definitely not the Sonoma of Princeton... That chef now works at the Wachusett Country Club... I had the the pistachio crusted red snapper that seemed like it was previously frozen... save your money.
Good food. Surprisingly empty for a Thursday evening. Bartender was super nice! Bit too expensive for me and not a lot of vegetarian options.
Sat outside on a beautiful evening and despite the proximity to the hospital and busy Rt. 9, the atmosphere was very relaxing. The service was very good and the food was also good, but I thought that the sauce on the cedar plank salmon was too strong and overpowered the fish. Having been to the original Sonoma (Princeton, MA), I thought that the food wasn't quite as good - but still very good.
Food and service was absolutely outstanding! The occasion was a "belated" Mother's day dinner for my wife, mother and mother in law. They stayed until closing! When I picked them up from the dinner the first thing out of their mouths was "when can we go back? Can we do brunch?". Truly a wonderful experience
We had been looking forward to our dinner at Sonoma for some time. Our daughter and family have been recommending we get there since the restaurant opened up in Princeton. Now, as the restaurant in the Beechwood Hotel, having to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, the restaurant seems to have taken on too much. Im sorry to say that we were underwhelmed with the food. The flavors were very good, but the fish entrées were overdone. Maybe some day we will return but have meat entrées. It will be a while though, before we return.
My husband and I frequented your old location 2-4x/year. At the new location in Worcester, it lacks all of the areas we so enjoyed at last location. Food was fair, new waitress who acknowledged she was on week 2 of her job. Very noisy...multiple birthday and/or perhaps grad parties as there were 2-3 big parties surrounding us. Restaurant was also not super clean, in my opinion. Bar is great and best feature! Real disappointment. We may try is one more time outside of perhaps busy times of the year to give it a second chance.
The food was great, service exceptional. We enjoyed the live music.
Food was very good but below previous experience when Sonoma was in Princeton. Servers were not very attentive. Most tables were empty.
A very underwhelming and disappointing experience. Too many things went wrong, our food took an age to arrive (a couple who arrived after us finished their meals before we got ours), our server did not really acknowledge that fact enough. When my wifes meal (a simple and expensive steak) arrived it was seared way too much and all you could taste was burnt meat. We were reluctant to get another steak for her given how long it took but our server checked with the kitchen and said there was one already cooking - however that also took 15 - 20 mins. Given the meal was now completely disjointed and the occasion kind of ruined we took it to go. When we received our bill we were disappointed to see that they couldn't at least have offered to take a drink or two off - I understand things go wrong at restaurants some times but that should be acknowledged by the management. I told the server we were disappointed to see that the full bill was being presented to us given how poorly the night had gone - she stated that she asked her manager whether she offer us anything even a free desert and he had said no as we had been given the steak to go (which was more or less forced upon us given how long it had taken to get the second steak!). We asked to see the manager - 10 -15 minutes passed and our server came back to say that he was too busy to come over and she had decided to take two drinks off the bill. At that point we just wanted to leave so we paid and left.
I couldnt in all honesty recommend this restaurant to anyone - I was really looking forward to trying it and while things dont always run perfectly - this was just too much and seemed way more than just a bad night.
Very nice staff, excellent customer service. I was expecting more flavorful food. My meal was fresh, and presentation was nice.
Went there to celebrate the graduation. Excellent service
Food was excellent, service was great. Very enjoyable evening.
