We are no longer accepting gift cards from the Princeton location. We apologize for any inconvenience.
I was a previous customer of Sonoma in their Princeton location and wanted to try them in Worcester. The trouble started upon arrival. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation and were told there would be a 20 minute wait. The hostess then directed us to the bar. While walking to the bar I looked at the seating and it appeared a good portion of the floor was closed. There were several patrons in the outdoor seating and several seats available indoors, where we had requested to be seated. perhaps they didn't have enough servers working, I can not say.
The bartender was friendly as was the hostess and everyone seemed to talk in low voices, almost unable to be heard over the noise of the restaurant. We ordered our drinks and then about 30 minutes after we had arrived were told (again, in a low voice) that our table was ready. We followed the hostess to the table and were quickly greeted by our server. Our server was great ! She was energetic and available throughout the meal. She did not mention any specials which was disappointing, as I would have thought every place has at least one special.
Once we placed our order the food came at the appropriate pacing. The menu items were eclectic, however both of our dishes (Braised Chicken Leg and Pan Seared Scallops) were divine. I didn't think the flavour combinations would have worked on my dish, but I was delighted to see that they did.
When it came time for dessert we were told the dessert trolley was "in the shop" which was disappointing. That was one of the things we loved about the old Sonoma.
As a hotel restaurant, I understand that customers can't be forced into a dress code, however for the prices on the menu I would have expected a little more decorum. I am not sure if I would go back based on this experience. If you should go, just plan on a little extra time and trust the chef, the flavor combinations may not seem like they would work, but they do!
It was awesome dining experience. We were celebrating our 56th anniversary and we wanted a special place that was romantic, with great food, service and ambiance. They did not disappoint us. Right from the start our drinks, the warm bread and the soup we ordered were delicious and outstanding. Our entree was quality not quantity. Her steak melted in her mouth and my sword fish dinner was so delicious. We were full but split a delicious cheese cake.
A very special night.
Beef Tartar, Fried Avocado, Onion and Fruit Soups were outstanding. Oysters were pricey but huge. Eat outside if you can, start with a drink om the outside patio.
As always, Sonoma doesn't disappoint. The ambiance is restful with good lighting. Service was perfect. The food is creative, but not overdone. Serving sizes are just right. The decaf coffee was full bodied and served in large cups with great rims. Can't wait to return.
We enjoyed our dinner on the patio, listening to the band. Dinner was delicious, service was good. A lovely night at Sonoma.
Overall, we were disappointed in Sonomas. Having been patrons of the Princeton Sonoma for many years, and finding it to be an exemplary dining experience in every way, the Worcester Sonoma was a disappointment. Although the food was very good, the atmosphere, ambiance and service was lacking. We miss the seasoned wait staff and the small intimate dining experience that Sonoma was so well known for. Our waitress was pleasant enough but lacked the attention to detail that was a hallmark of the Princeton staff.
When making the reservation on Open Table, we indicated that this was a birthday celebration. Unfortunately it was never acknowledged, adding to our disappointment. When another celebration calls for a fine dining experience, we won’t be choosing Sonoma’s. Something very special was lost when Sonoma’s chose to leave Princeton. I wish Bill Brady the best of luck but we won’t be dining there again.
Very disappointed. This place was amazing in the Princeton location, but since they moved they have lost their way. The food is not nearly as inventive and appetizing, and the sizes have definitely decreased as well. The last time I went the asparagus was overcooked and the potatoes were bland. But the service has gone off considerably. The waitstaff use to be amazing, now it is terrible. They do not memorize the specials, they forget to bring glasses before opening the champagne, never crumbed the table. In short, not really a fine dining experience any more
Food, service, and ambience were great! However my boyfriend was up sick all night and we are thinking it may have been the food. He ordered the steak, I had seafood.
Experience was overall not what the name of the restaurant stands for. Amuse geule came while we already had our appetizer on the table, no spoon for separate served sides, food was just warm (but tasty). The terrace is great in the summer. OK night, but not a "Sonoma-Night".
The service was wonderful and the waitress remembered us and welcomed us back. There were several choices for appetizers to the main course - some new since our last visit. My husband and I chose items we hadn't gotten before and they were delicious - beef tartar, fried avacado, flank steak and scallops. We've always had a wonderful time and this time wasn't any different - it was a great night out! I would highly recommend Sonoma if you are looking for great food, great service and a wonderful evening.
When served a mussels app, no small fork was provided. After eating the mussels app, no
hot wash cloth was provided or a fresh napkin. When the prices are moderately high you
would expect excellence all the way. However, the food was excellent and the service was
Excellent service and portions/quality were excellent
Board of Directors dinner was again a great success... staff was attentive and food wonderful. Thank you.
Food was amazing. beautiful restaurant
Great breakfast and great service. We enjoyed our meal very much. Booth was very comfortable and private which was nice.
We usually try Fried Calamari as an appetizer when it is offered. The manner in which it was cooked at Sonoma was the best we'd had in a long time. If over cooked calamari can be rubbery. It was perfect here, sort of "al dente". The service was outstanding. We chose to eat inside as it was too warm for us outside. However, the patio looked inviting and we thought we would try it another time.
Some of the food was over cooked and some completely undercooked. And he service was worse than the food. Seemed like everyone was entry level and there was no one in charge. Not the quality of service expected from this type of establishment.
From the start it was disappointing. We requested water, our waiter forgot. We requested bread, our waiter forgot. My order of medium rare arrived well done. Asked for a 9oz pour of wine, received a 6oz. Brought hot bread to the table after we had completed our meal. Called later than day to speak with manager, was promised a return call. Called again next day, again promised a return call. That was three days ago. Still waiting for return call. Very poor experience, very poor service.
I would recommend it for the food. It was over priced and the service was sub par considering there were about 4 tables occupied. We made reservations for Fathers Day for 6 and were seated right beside the kitchen door. Very loud. Server couldn’t get our drink orders correct and yet charged us for all of them. I won’t go back
Good for a celebration, anniversary, birthday etc. Food was great, although the menu is small. Will ago again, but prices would prevent going very often.
As always. Wonderful
Drinks on the patio first w attentive service and good cocktails. Water! Very chlorinated and server said it was filtered. The food was excellent starting w the beef tartar, crispy calamari and butternut/crab bisque. We asked to share two entrees which we were told they would be happy to do. The plates were lovely but I wished they had advised us there was a $7.50 charge per entree. I am still glad we shared the venison. Will go back soon.
I brought my wife, mother, mother-in law and daughter to Sonoma on Sunday night (May 26th) for a belated Mother's Day meal. All I can say is that they all have asked me take them back to Sonoma as soon as possible. They want to try the brunch! The food, service and overall atmosphere was superb. It's the best they had ever had.
Had the place to ourselves, Sunday 5pm reservation. Had dessert and after dinner drinks on the patio. Beautiful, warm night. Could not have been more inviting. Food was fantastic, just the right portions after apps, salad and bread. Wine selected was rec by our waitress and was a perfect match with both entrees. Wines were a bit pricey but we were celebrating so we gave in. More diners were coming in around 6ish and started to get busier but we were outside by then. Will definitely be returning.
This place is lovely to sit out on the patio and enjoy drinks or a nice meal. It wasn’t the most quality food (especially the gluten free options), but to be honest that didn’t take away from our experience and we will definitely go back. Some kitchen days are just off days and we totally understand that 😊
Lovely place to enjoy a delicious dinner
We have loved coming to Sonoma for years and have always looked forward to coming for a special night out. We have dinned there 1-2 times per year now for 20 years and until recently have always been blown away by the experience. The past two times we have visited we have been disappointed. Since the move to the new location at the Beechwood Inn it has simply lost what made it special. The ambiance is OK and the food is average. The price is still high. We always were happy to pay the price for the food and the experience, but I think it is time to look for another "special night out" place.
Roasted brussels sprouts were horribly overcooked. Salmon was just OK. My wife felt the same way about her Meal. Food quality not up to snuff for the price of entrées. Service was very good drowned it out by food quality
Great staff and food!
A big fan of Sonoma when they were located in Princeton. So happy to have them closer w the same great food in a beautiful location at the Beechwood Hotel. Maria made our ordering easy w some small requests and no problem sharing the main course. Perfect evening. Hope to return soon.
Lovely meal. Wonderful service.
The food has gone downhill since moving to it’s new location. Steak was poor
Our lunch was superb, great food, service & ambiance. There was easy and accessible parking. Great experience!
Food was outstanding! The salmon was melt in your mouth... prime rib juicy and huge! Fine dinning all around!
I wait 1 hour for a simple egg Benedict on mothers day. Restaurant wasn't busy to take that long. Bar was close for a simple mimosa.. hope they give better service... food was really good but who will enjoy it after a terrible service.
The amuse bouche and tapenades were a detail worth noting. It makes me as a patron feel like you and your staff want diners there. It sets you aside rom others. Thank you for that. The salmon was delicious and wish I had a little more healthy sea beans and rutebega mash along with it. The hake was different and delicious! I think it needed more greens or veggies to balance out of the richness of the chowder hash. All in all a great experience that I would recommend to others and return myself. I am curious about the dessert menu!!! I thoroughly enjoyed viewing the fresh peonies and it seemed like there were new and training staff but that is ok, we all learn over time.
we had a very enjoyable dinner. the dining room was quiet and the service perfect. very nice wine selection, even very good at the not-so pricey range. my salad was interesting but weirdly hot spicy. I had the duck entree. it was cooked perfectly but the dish was bland. maybe I just miss the Princeton Sonoma, I feel its lost something.
A treasure in Worcester! Can't wait to try the outside dining experience.
We went to Sonoma for a special occasion and had a lovely evening! Our meals were attractive, creative and delicious. I chose the venison, perfectly done and tender, with sauteed kale and mushrooms. The pureed celeriac was outstanding. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his plump shrimp over pasta entree. For dessert we shared cake sitting in maple syrup drizzle with ice cream on the side. Yummy!
Really polite and professional staff. We enjoyed the Easter dinner special, and enjoyed all three courses, which were timed perfectly and tasted excellent. Would highly recommend.
