We went to Sonoma on Wednesday night. The service was very slow, the food came out cold and potatoes and lentils were undercooked. Our bill for 2 was $170. Overall, I was not impressed with the place.
This was our 8th time visiting this place and was extremely disappointed!! We found the place to be really loud so conversations between us was minimal. The waitress we had was very nice, but very slow looking after us. The menu was very unappetizing. When we received our food it looked like a $5 meal on a $100 Dollar plate that tasted like a $.50 can of food. After all the times we visited, it was upsetting to see this place go down hill. Maybe it was a fluke, maybe not. This place was the one you could drop $100 easily and never looked back...not that night, We felt robbed!!
I met some girlfriends here for a Sunday evening dinner. I picked Sonoma Wine Bar for its menu, location, wine choices, plus the fact that they accepted reservations, could provide separate checks, and there was valet parking right next to the restaurant. (I'm on crutches so this was very helpful). All those factors made it a great pick for our small group. The food was very good, we all cleaned our plates. There are lots of drink choices. It is a touch on the expensive side, but there are some choices under $15. One can look at their menu online to decide if it's in their budget. The service was great.
We asked for vegetarian/vegan options and we were not disappointed. Our cheese tray was fabulous. The wine selection is phenomenal. Our entrees and salads were tailored to what we enjoy eating. The service was exquisite. Our waitress was very informed about how the food was prepared and she allowed us to custom order our meals. This was all done in a very polite and accommodating way. The atmosphere was quiet when we first arrived at 6 PM on a Saturday but picked up to a dull murmur as more guests came in. We could have a conversation without having to shout at each other, even though there was a festive party of six literally right next to our table. Very pleased with everything. We will be back!
Sonoma is one of our favorite spots. Valentine’s Day at Sonoma is always great.

Enjoyed the food and our waiter but hostess sat a couple that’s reservation was an hour past ours at a great high top and then is right by the door and the foot traffic. Their reservation was at 8 and ours at 7 and they came in after me and she went over to them and sat them before us. So strange.
This place was really good. The food was excellent, the drinks were fabulous. A little pricey, but definitely worth it. Would certainly go again!

Great wines, great food, accommodating for business dinner. Portions were very slightly on the smaller side, but very tasty and well-prepared.
My husband and I decided to get a small bite to eat before going to a Broadway show at Chrysler Hall in Norfolk. Sonoma was a great choice. It offered a quiet, intimate, atmosphere and just the right amount of food for a meal. The service was also very nice. We were given excellent wine suggestions based on our preferences. Although a little on the pricey side (we couldn't afford to eat here every day), the quality was just what we were looking for to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you!
In a word, outstanding service. Brittany was a cordial, gracious and knowledgeable host. Helped us with our questions, which made the experience pleasant. Kudos to her for that. Food was delicious, ambiance topnotch. Great little restaurant. Will be attending again.
They put us in a corner behind a column, hardly could enjoy the restaurant and the server took longer to get us our orders, probably because we were out of sight.
The choice of food was ok but the menu was not organize at all.
Lighting is a little too bright now, please dim lights in area near windows.
My husband and I preferred a low key NYE and this resteraunt was perfect. The cheese and cracker plate was so good. It came with brie, goat cheese, duck prosciutto, olives, honey, petite pickles. It was a great starter to our meal. The chicken penne pasta was good and my husband had a burger and fries which he didn’t leave anything left on his plate. We definitely will be back.
As a resident of Town Center I have had a chance to visit all of the restaurants there. I have been to Sonoma three different times over the last few years. I don’t like to give critical reviews, but in the interest of sharing information with other users that I rely upon I have to say the food at Sonoma is horrible. I have tried to talk myself into giving the place a chance. The wine selection is good, but overpriced. My latest food experience was on New Year’s Eve. I ordered the Seafood Risotto, which at a price of $30 had high expectations that were brutally ruined when the dish was delivered. The portion size was small, and the food was LUKE warm at best. The menu said there would be some shrimp in the dish, but I literally had search for them. The risotto was undercooked, and the sauce the dish was prepared with was cold as well. Finally, the few scallops that were in the dish were very cold. My dining partner had Lobster Mac and Cheese which was very disappointing. I am not a good cook, but I think I could have prepared that dish just as well in about 9 minutes. The service was fair, however the hostess did not seem the least bit interested in asking if she could hang our coats up on a cold winter night. Bon Voyage Sonoma, next time I will go to Total Wine, buy a nice bottle myself, and make some Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. I will save $100 and have the same meal.

My wife and I always go to Sonoma for special occasions and we have always had a great culinary experience but this time, I was not satisfied with the food.
The service was great and everything about the restaurant was as I expected but my meal was not up to the expectations I have created from my previous experiences at Sonoma.
Also, The menu was not very clear. It is not beyond comprehension but it could be so much more easier to understand. I am not sure when or why the menu changed but in my opinion it was a change for the worst.
I still think Sonoma is a great restaurant and I am willing to think that the cook was a little off his game that particular night since we have always really enjoyed the food there.
Delicious food, and menu seems to have been renovated since I was last here. This is very fine dining at very reasonable price (I used to consider this restaurant expensive). During happy hour, in the bar seating area, which is basically no different from the rest of the restaurant, you can get entrees for $7 and bottle of wine for $20; great deal at a first class restaurant.
My wife and I were dining the 5:30 service prior to a show. We were met promptly and seated and it looked like we were the only customers at that time. We placed orders and were served our salad order shortly. The salad I received was not what I had ordered but the server had left the table before I recognized the mistake. I was not able to get the attention of our server or waitress who were chatting with the hostess at the entrance so I got up from the table and let the waitress know about the discrepancy. The correct order arrived after my wife had finished her salad and I was told they were going to comp my salad. The Field Garden Salad however was not fresh and had pockets of slimy black material throughout. I asked that it be taken away and declined to have another as my wife was waiting for her main course. We were told to leave room for dessert and that it would be comped also. My wife enjoyed both of her courses and my fish tacos were good, too. We shared the bread pudding dessert that was provided on the house which we enjoyed. Both my wife and I found the rest rooms in need of attention which we thought unacceptable since this was the beginning of the evening service and no one had checked them before opening. Sorry that I cannot recommend based on our experience.
The bartender/manager, Mike, is always friendly and attentive ... love him. The food is incredibly good, I don't even know how they do it.

Excellent meal was unfortunately negatively affected by our entrees being served 5 minutes after the charcuterie arrived. Disappointing breech of what I'd call proper hosting!
We have been to Sonoma many times but this was an off experience. We arrived at our reservation time of 7 pm and I told our waitress that we were going to the 8 pm show. Where we sat, the lighting was very dim, and I was having a hard time reading the wine menu. Asked the waitress about wines by the glass and she recommended a wine. I should have asked the price. We finished our meal by 7:45 but our waitress was no where to be found with the bill. By 7:55 I asked another server for our bill. And our waitress brought it...but we were in a rush to get to the 8pm show. Our bill was $130 plus dollars. Our appetizer was $12 and we both had the seafood risotto (scallops were not firm and other seafood hard to find) @ $30 each. So I was either overcharged or that was a VERY expensive wine recommendation for 2 glasses of wine. Should have raised the issue at the time but my date was worried about not being seated at the beginning of the show. So my fault for not challenging then and there, but I doubt we will be returning any time soon and if and when we do, I will bring my pocket flashlight so I know the prices!!
Sonoma continues to be one of the best restaurants in Hampton Roads.
The wait staff seemed a bit like we were a burden to them. They weren’t rude by any means but we didn’t feel really comfortable.
Pretty place. I would rather take a bunch of guys there or have a business meeting than a date.
Delicious food. Extensive wine selection. Enjoyed music from the town center from the restaurant's patio. I will be going back again.

The food and service at Sonoma Wine Bar & Bistro are both outstanding. We had the mussels in Pinot Noir sauce for an appetizer and Pan Roasted Flounder for the entree. The presentation for both was beautiful and the combination of ingredients was creative and delicious. Highly recommend!
We sat in the bar area, which we prefer. The bartender, Mike, was very busy but gave our 4-top excellent service. The food was fantastic, the wine Mike recommended was fabulous. The entire evening was very, very nice. We will be back soon.

Wonderful brunch, we have been here many times and they never disappoint.
Not in love with Sonoma. I wanted to like it, but the cheeseboard was really sad at best, and food was just okay. A cheese and board full of crackers with the tiniest portions of meat and cheese. Don't get the cheese board or really anything, as it's overpriced for the value.
I made the Open Table reservation with just enough time to change and drive to Sonoma--Ted parked. They were expecting me the moment I walked in the door, and offered me a choice of two tables. I told our server that we were heading to the Sandler Center for a performance. He knew exactly what time to get us out. We even had time to splurge on dessert & coffee!
This is always my go to for getting together with my friends. They have a lovely assortment of wines and a delicious charcuterie board. It's a must!
Great food, amazing wine list! We played with a flight of wines, and ordered a bottle from the flight. Fun place.
The restaurant decided to close early on Easter Sunday evening without reviewing existing reservations. When we arrived prior to our reservation time, the doors were locked and staff did not respond to our knocking despite being present and visible.
