My husband and I could not have been more pleased to spend our 57th anniversary at the
Grille. The food was great the service as well. Most of all it was quiet.
Excellent food and service! Easy sit down and staff gave great recommendations
Great dinner out on a busy Saturday. Food was amazing and the outdoor dining was warm and beautiful.
Outstanding meal!! Owner very accommodating, our new favorite!
Bern twice recently and superficial food & service!
Amazing! New favorite spot in Sonoma. The Bloody Mary is incredible and keeps you coming back for more.
We always like this restaurant. Dining is only outside right now and they have a nice patio with heaters. We treated ourselves to the lobster, which was cooked just right. We also treated ourselves to the chocolate tart for dessert. Very yummy and satisfying to any chocolate lover.
Let’s start by acknowledging how incredibly hard working and engaging the host here is. He truly made you feel special like you were coming to be a part of their family for the evening. We experienced a 30 minute wait even with our reservation but the ambiance was worth it. The tables were spread out far enough that I felt safe dining here during COVID. They had an ample amount of heat lamps as well so we weren’t cold at all even while temps were in the low 50s.
As for the food, the calamari was crispy and well seasoned. I wasn’t planning on having many but they were delicious so I kept digging in. Their oysters were delicious as well. I was underwhelmed by my filet mignon entree. Nothing on the plate stood out in any way. I was really excited about the blue cheese butter but even that didn’t add much complexity. The filet was a little tougher and didn’t melt in my mouth as I was expecting. My boyfriend ordered the short rib special which came with polenta and broccolini. In my opinion, the short ribs should have been served over the polenta instead of next to it on the plate so the sauce could meld over the polenta a little. The short ribs were good but like my filet, the entire plate needed to be elevated in flavor as nothing truly stood out. Neither of our entrees came out hot so I imagine they were waiting to be expedited for a few minutes. I will say that they did serve large portions of everything which in a way was the saving grace to not feeling like it wasn’t “worth” the higher prices. I’m not sure I feel the need to come back but it was a pleasant evening so I would recommend giving it a try... Just don’t plan on being wowed.
Great food and the ambience is very energetic, this is based on the people eating and not the staff. When we arrived for our 7:30 reservation, we were told there would be a wait. We had people who did not have a reservation seated before us which was extremely odd but we were seated by 7:45. We were brought water immediately. We waited 10 minutes before we had to ask for someone to take our drink order, a table of 6 was seated after us and already had ordered (we had the same waitress) otherwise I would have not mentioned it. The food was excellent, highly recommend the filet and lobster. Calamari was good too. My boyfriends Old Fashioned was made with soda water so he had them redo that as well. The wine was good. I would give a 1 for the service, not very friendly or chatty and really were not interested with interacting with us. However, for some reason they brought us a complimentary dessert which my boyfriend said was delicious, it was the molten cake with ice cream. Still would recommend.
Plate and food arrive cool. Understand service is outside and evening are cold I think more attention would be helpful to hot plates and serving food piping hot food.
beautiful outdoor eating area. The staff was very friendly and LOVED the food!
Beautiful space and even more the staff treat you like family. Wonderful experience!
They were ill-prepared to handle a pre-fixe on Valentines day. Ran out of most of the items that we wanted to order from the pre-fix menu. They actually delivered us a salmon without telling us that the halibut was 86'd. We still had fun and food was quite good - so all was not lost. But they need much better organization.
We went there for Valentine's Day dinner.
They had only a set menu, food was horrible even though the waitress was very nice!
We had a wonderful meal and wonderful service as usual.
Outdoor back patio seating. Fanny Bay oysters were good, but overall, all dishes plating seemed rushed
Decent lunch in a relaxed environment.
Very enjoyable. Great meal.
Nice patio and wine menu. Nice seafood dishes but so-so everything else.
Food were great! The Tiramisu was exceptional and a reason to go back. We ordered oysters, Ravioli and prawn salad. All are equally tasty and fresh. I would give it a 5 but the temporary set up outdoor may need some improvement but overall our experience was great.
The food was fantastic! We had seafood and filet.
The service was terrible. We had to ask all the other servers for our server multiple times.
The food was delicious and the service outstanding.
Used to be a nice place for outdoor lunch. Not pet friendly anymore. So many other wonderful places to send your dollars.
TGiving menu: salad wasn’t dressed enough and was bland; Turkey was only white meat and way too much squash side dish on plate; plus, no mashed potatoes? Turkey was too dry and also overloaded. The plate must have weighed a lot. We took it to go and left it for homeless across the street. We have loved all 4 other meals we’ve had there since June so I can only think it’s not the chef’s forte, American TG.
Thanksgiving Dinner ... outdoor dining only ... pretty cool weather!
Everyone did their best to make us comfortable ... added heaters throughout our stay. Waiters, waitresses, other servers and clean up crew were all very friendly and accommodating. It was a special menu ... choice of soup or salad (both were wonderful) ... NY Steak, Halibut, or Turkey Dinner (Steaks and Turkey were delicious) ... Pumpkin Cheesecake, Chocolate Cake w/Ice Cream, Creme Brulee (all fabulous)! And best of all ... I didn't have to cook OR clean up! Thank you Sonoma Grille!
It was so great. Highly recommend. My sister had her birthday there and it was perfect.
They were out of a lot on the drink menu. The seafood pasta that was recommended had little flavor. It was a cold night as it had rained that day; there were heaters in sight but none were being used.
It was our anniversary and even though we had to eat outside on the patio they made it very special for us. The waiter was great and the cocktails and were outstanding!
great ambiance and service I like the appetizers better than my entrée however
Nicely done conventional dishes with an extra flair that makes them particularly appealing. One of the better Caesar salads that I have had. But the bill adds up pretty fast. Friendly wait staff.
We dined outdoors at the Sonoma Grill. It was conveniently located near our hotel and it had such a nice atmosphere with lights and heat lamps on the patio. I thought that the filet mignon was one of the best steaks I’ve ever tasted. So tender and delicious! It was a birthday dinner for my husband and they brought our ice cream with a candle. I would highly recommend the Sonoma Grill.
Everything was fresh and tasty. We really enjoyed the food and wine.
The outside patio is big and pretty, and tables are well spaced. Salads were very fresh. Cioppino was fabulous. We will definitely be back.
Carpaccio was beyond disappointing. Thinner than paper thin; and flavorless. Wild mushroom risotto was very good. They mixed up our order with someone else. But can’t be critical during theses crazy Covid times. We will be back; hope they work on the carpaccio.
Outdoor seating on a chilly night with heaters ... and it was lovely ! The heaters kept us so warm and the ambiance with being outside was fantastic. Definitely hope that they continue this outdoor adventure when Covid is no longer an issue!
The food was amazing, and the seating was spread out perfectly outside. My only complaint was that the service was very slow. Took awhile to order our food and to pay. All and all, I plan on going back!
great place will recommend to many people. salmon and scallops were great
Food was great service was excellent
Eggs were good perfectly. Salad fresh with just the right amount of dressing
Always friendly service. Good selection of entrees and appetizers and cocktails. Love the oyster bar.
We were so excited to come to Sonoma Grille, sadly the food was such a let down. The mussels were over cooked and the sauce was watery with little flavor, the steak was dry and the seafood pasta was the worst we have ever had. Our waiter was nice but the food was awful. The table next to us was complaining about the taste of their food too.
