Excellent as usual
The food is good but it was slow in arriving at the table. The dining room is really LOUD. It would be challenging to have conversations. The patio is much quieter and they do have heaters.
We were seated outside on the patio as the inside was way too noisy for us. They had heaters so it was comfortable sitting outside on a chilly night. The service was great and friendly and the food was wonderful. We did order the beef carpaccio for an appetizer and were disappointed that most of it was garnish with only two tiny bites of beef. I ordered the dungeness crab which was very messy to eat, but delicious and worth every bite. My husband had the rack of lamb and raved about it. We had the tiramisu for dessert and it was fabulous. The only downside was we had a group of 8 millennial females seated nearby and they were obnoxiously drunk and very loud and disgusting. Our complaint about their loudness and offensive language went unattended to by the staff which was a disappointment. Others sitting by us also complained to deaf ears.
We have eaten there before the latest visit. This visit was just business.
Love the patio, service and that they have a separate part of the kitchen for allergies.
Celebrating our sons birthday, in Sonoma as we had evacuated to escape the Kincade Fire, but experience greatly diminished by unacceptably loud and drunk party next to us. Despite several polite requests to keep it down and minding their language, given that we had minors in our party it just got worse and worse.
I asked the manager to intervene and his answer was that he could move us to another table, right as they served our food!
One of the party started making inappropriate hand signs towards us, if we even ventured to look in their direction.
If you are already drunk and looking for a rowdy bar that also serves food, this is probably a great choice. But certainly not a place to bring you family. Food was really good so it’s kind of a shame, that they let overly drunk guests stay despite deplorable behavior.
Inside noise not conducive to conversation but lovely outside under heaters. Excellent wine list , menu choices and fresh seafood, ample servings. Definitely will return. Service was balanced and attentive, knew the wines and menu.
Food is always good. If someone is looking for fresh fish in the wine country this is a good place. Easy parking. Nice outdoor space. Lively bar.
A neighborhood gem, for sure.
What a treat to get out of the house, in the midst of all the chaos, and power outages around the area.
The owner always has a smile and our group of 4 were seated quickly.
Our waiter Cameron, was upbeat and quick to please. I decided to have a martini and felt adventurous to try a Gin, I didn't have at home. I opted for the Uncle Val's. It came and I tasted it, and loved it immediately. I then noticed there was a good sized chip out of the rim of my glass. I showed it to Cameron who said "no worries", he would get me a new one. Unfortunately, there was no back up for the Uncle Val's. I tried another, which I did not care for, but ended up drinking it anyway.
Each of us ordered something different, along with a couple of appetizers, and a couple of desserts. All the dishes were well executed.
One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant. We were treated very disrespectfully and insulted without any cause.Avoid this place.
Really excellent food. Wonderful service too. Waiter and chef were able to accommodate change requested in the sides of our orders (no potatoes or rice please) so that worked out great.
We sat in the back patio which was pleasant.
Lively bar (noisy upon entering restaurant), so we were glad there was seating outside.
Highly recommend. Plenty of off street parking available.
Carpaccio was underwhelming and fried calamari was tough. Steak sandwich was good.
This was the worst meal we had on our recent trip to Sonoma. The food had no flavor and our waiter was at best nonexistent. When he did come around he was rude. I had risotto and it was the worst risotto I have ever had. I tried to dr it up with pepper etc. If our waiter had come around I would have asked for more cheese or sent it back.
Great menu and it is reasonably priced. Always fun to go to. Service always good.
This was a great restaurant with attentive and staff!
great find a little off the Sonoma square ...we will definitely go back.
Charming outdoor patio for dining and the BLT and steak sandwiches were delicious for lunch.
We ate dinner at the bar for my partner's 75th birthday, and the food was outstanding. We shared Caesar salad and saffron pappardelle with shrimp in a light tomato/lobster sauce. Can't wait to try other items on our next visit to Sonoma.
Our 6 top sat outside on their open air patio and had a wonderful meal.
Beautiful presentation on the Crab Cioppino and Seafood Linguine. Very attentive service and decent wine list. Will visit again.
Great food with outdoor dining. Our server was also excellent. 5 star
In a word it was “average” so we were very disappointed as we had such high expectations. With so many really good restaurants in Sonoma, I would definitely skip this one if I had to do it all over again.
They have a very nice outdoor area in the back. We enjoyed the evening outside and were thankful for the heat lamps. Three of us had the Saffron Pappardelle and we all enjoyed it.
The mushroom risotto I had was absolutely tasteless, and the calamari was on the chewy side. Based on other people’s reviews I was expecting better food. The service was fine.
Service was good, food was ordinary and as such not a value for the price paid
Food was fantastic and service was outstanding.
Overall it was a great place for dinner. Ambience was great, staff friendly and professional. Liked it very much.
We were in Sonoma for 6 nights. Ate only at restaurants at or very close to the Square. Sonoma Grill was either number 1 or number two ... can't decide - tied for first place maybe? You will NOT go wrong here. Fabulous place.
Great location but the food was just ok. We split the steak sandwich and a salad. Considering it’s in Sonoma, we were expecting it to be be better. The fries were the best part of the meal.
Nice restaurant just off the Square. Menu has nice vegetarian options. Cocktails are delicious. Tables are close together and there is lots of hardscape so it is really noisy. Distracting and hard to talk/listen to your tablemates. Mushroom risotto was delicious as was linguini with clams and mussels. Bread comes with a disgusting oily butter/herb that is almost inedible.
We didn’t have dessert but we observed those around us and they looked delicious, especially the creme brûlée.
We were seated in the outdoor dining area which is quite nice. Everyone ordered a different entree and everyone was very pleased. We are never disappointed with the food. The place is lively and has a good vibe.... I would rate it 5 stars but the indoor dining area is just too loud during peak dinner hours. It's probably not a problem for most people but I have a quiet voice and I feel like I have to talk very loud when having a conversation.
Amazing food. Our waiter, Lhapka, was perfect. There was a lot to f noise at the bar when we first arrived, which our waiter took care of. Highly recommend the roasted beet salad, spinach ravioli, bouillabaisse, and blackened salmon Nice wine list also
Great dinner. Service was outstanding and it was great to meet the owner. We’ll be back!
Found the food and service very good. I would repeat when m the area again.
The ambiance was nice. We sat outside.
Filet mignon was delicious.
But the salmon was undercooked.
Amazing food but staff and management didn’t seem to care about their guest experience. Had dinner last night with a party of 10 friends. There was a group of females celebrating something important and were so obnoxious. I like having fun and we can be loud at times but several of these girls had no inside voice. Several guests complained but still the staff did nothing to ask this other party to keep quiet. As good as the food was I would not return based on the experience.
Sat out in the patio. Beautiful setting and terrific service. Our waiter went beyond expectations to ensure our meal aligned with our allergies.
We have bent Sonoma Grille many times, and something was just off on Friday night. The service was terrible and although our server was attentive, our changing tables before we even ordered must have thrown him off. I watched servers all evening outside roaming around trying to pair the right dish with the right guest. It was a mess. We waited almost an hour for our entrees. After ordering a cab I did not like, I ordered a lemon drop martini that was awful. The glass was not frosted, it tasted like it had no lemon in it and was tasteless and was missing the lemon peel. I had to send it back. My friend said her pasta was just so-so, and with all the unprofessionalism of the servers, all three pastas had turned cold. If I didn't know the usual quality of the Grille, this experience would keep me from coming back.
Perfectly executed filet and fantastic service. Recommend reservations and sitting outside for quieter dining.
First time to Sonoma Grill. Food was very good. Next time we out in the area we will definitely come back again. I was pleasantly surprised by it.
