Sonoma Cellar Steak House - Sunset Station Hotel & Casino Ratings and Reviews
We were celebrating our marriage and when we arrived we were greeted with a bottle of champagne at the table. We had a few appetizers, which were all amazing. The bone marrow was probably the best app, with the bacon wrapped stuffed shrimp being a close 2nd. My wife loved the crabmeat appetizer and she normally doesn't like crab. Our steaks came out cooked to perfection. One person ordered the lamb t-bones and absolutely loved it. The sides are big enough to be shared, which we did. The chef and manager both came to the table and congratulated us on our day. Very nice touch! Chef Britt definitely shows off his New Orleans roots in his cooking. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Vegas.
We are the "testers" for our food group... Sonoma Cellar's Food undercooked and bland... did not bring ordered sauce... atmosphere not fine dining... people wearing dirty blue jeans, untucked ragged shirts, baseball hats, and shorts... extremely noisy... cannot have quiet conversations... waiter is bothersome, interruptive, and talks too much... A la carte entree's all overpriced... need a flashlight to read the menu... Two people drank water, had an appetizer, meat, veg, and potato for $152... very disappointed... will never recommend or bring our group.
We have been coming here for years. Now with the recent renovation the atmosphere is even more enjoyable. The wait staff is always friendly and personable. This time we had Jason and Poom and felt like we were treated as vips. Of course they knew it was our anniversary, and Sandy's birthday. Yes they are both on the same day. We even had birthday and anniversary cards on our table from the staff. This was a nice touch. The food was great as always, as one of our favorite wines, Hands of Time. If I had one criticism to make it would be to go back to the old sauteed mushroom recipe. I don't care much for the new one. Other than this you will not be disappointed with your experience.
The steaks were outstanding and cooked to perfection. The Rib Eye house special was as good as any steak I've ever eaten!
From the moment you walk in the door and are greeted by the two young ladies, you are in for a treat!
On top of this, I found out that they have a great happy hour with some really cool beers half price!
No need to go to the Strip anymore for a steak dinner!
Lighting was dim and hard read menu, server was not very personable, steaks were under cooked and returned for more fire, no manager came over and no follow up at the table, very disappointed did not feel the value was there for the cost of the meal, server did help out because the coupon was incorrect and he honored it only good thing, oh forgot salads were good but would never return
We were dining at Sonoma Cellar with our neighbors to determine if we would dine here with out-of-town visitors arriving in the next few months. We easily eliminated Sonoma Cellar from our list of dining choices. Service was fair to poor and that matched the food. The waiter asked if we wanted water and when we said yes he filled three of the four glasses and NEVER filled the fourth. He then tried to talk us out of the crab dip as an appetizer and when we insisted, he charged us double the menu price. The entrees were good but the side dishes were small and room temperature. The asparagus were small trees and as tough as tree bark. The meal ended with the check from another table which took some time to straighten out. Not a good experience.
Our server Hue did a great job. Really enjoyed his service. The bone marrow and the sweet corn were awesome. Brick chicken needs more flavor. Broccoli with mint yogurt just tasted like normal broccoli. New manager really needs to step up his game. He really doesn't understand the business. Will keep going back to see if he ever makes the improvements. Slowly he is but he doesn't quite understand nor does he listen when needed.
It was a concert night and they were busy...no big deal. Hostess couldn't locate a wine list then forgot to get one. I had to go looking for her. Waiter was fine. Food, well, salad was mostly greens, and didn't include the described ingredients. Soup, lobster bisque was no doubt canned soup, petite filet was very nice size and cooked to order but side sauce was maybe 2 tablespoons. Yukon mashed potatoes were very dry. Won't spend the steakhouse prices for this place again.
Just my wife and I out for a nice dinner, and a nice dinner is what you get at Sonoma. We have been going there since it opened in the late 90's, and now the place is even better after the reno. This time we had Jason as our waiter and he always does a nice job, but our usual waiter Javier took time out from his party to stop by and say hello. The new menu is very good with some of the oldies, and some new items to try. They bumped the price a tad, and maybe took the portions down a tad, but nothing that would prevent us from keeping this as a special place for us. If you haven't tried it, you should. You won't be disappointed.
This is the first time we have dined here since restaurant reopened. The service as always was great. I ordered a Porterhouse steak medium rare. Was a bit more done then I would have liked. The NY strip part was cooked properly but very tough the filet part was tender but way over cooked. We also ordered a shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were overcooked and tough. My sister ordered the lamb chops which I am happy to say she raved about. I also ordered the buratta salad. Cheese overly salted. So sorry to say we will not be returning. It is a shame since restaurant is at our neighborhood casino.
As always Poom, our server, was the gem of the restaurant. She is truly on top of her game and knows our likes and dislikes. She really makes the restaurant a special place to visit. Glad that they brought the bread back!
This is the first time we've been disappointed in our food! Baked potatoes were so cold the butter wouldn't even melt. We both ordered our filets med-well, mine was perfect, my husbands was rare. We are locals and eat here a lot but this was disappointing to say the least.
This was our favorite steakhouse until the remodel and new menu.
The side dishes were not served hot. The steak was tough. The salmon had no taste.
Menu choices have been reduced. Prices raised. The salad much too small.
Used to be great, but no longer
I was a little disappointed that since they have updated and redecorated the restaurant that they no longer offer their $34.99 steak and lobster/shrimp daily special. The steak had a very good flavor if a bit overdone. The sauces that are offered for topping the steaks, we each choose a different one, there were 3 of us, all were on the cold side and when ask to heat it, which they did very willingly, came back only lukewarm. We like this restaurant and will continue to eat there, they offer a upscale menu in a beautiful setting at a very reasonable price.
A nice restaurant with very good service and lovely food. It was very quiet in there as we went on a Monday evening.
Only complaint was they were a bit quick removing your plates when you've finished - I was still eating when the lady came to take mine away.
Waiter was more interested in the group behind us so we felt like an after thought. Food was ala cart . It was good but over priced. We put on our reservation that it was our Anniversary, but it was never acknowledged by the cashier nor waiter. Most likely , we won't go back.
The new decor is beautiful and the lead bartender is talented and savvy but those were the only positive aspects of the evening. The food was not even close to our expectations and certainly not worth the bill for four of over $300. We felt bad because we are "locals" and would like to see the updated gourmet room succeed. Some of the staff needs to be retrained or replaced - including the manager with whom I left my business card and he's not followed up. But of course, we all know Stations Casinos "love locals."
I will be honest. The rib eye was a 20 oz cut, but much of that was bone and fat. After cutting out the fat and bone, we had maybe 10 oz of steak. I believe the price was $48.00 for the steak, a la carte. $48.00 for a 10 oz steak. The quality and quantity did not warrant the price. The bread offered was very good. Good variety, sour dough and we especially enjoyed the slices of cinnamon raisin french bread. Vegetables (baked yam and sauteed spinach) were cooked to perfection. Other than the steak, the meal was good but we do not consider the Sonoma Cellar fine dining.
We came in A little early for our reservation but the hostess Jessica was friendly and accommodated us without any problem. Food is always amazing! We usually sit by the dining area but this time we sat at the bar, happy hour is a must try! Christina the bartender is great! I never had a bad meal here and servers are always very attentive and friendly.
