Sonny Lubick Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
It was a special occasion, that is why we went there. We had a wonderful time, food and service was excellent. Sonny's is one of the better places to dine. Not cheap but not over the top either. I try to go there a couple of times a year. There are many fine places to eat in Ft. Collins but Sonny's never fails to impress. They know how to set a table and how to serve food. The help is attentive but not bothersome.
Have been here many times and enjoyed food, service and ambiance. This time, with early reservations and few customers, we were placed next to the very NOISY kitchen when so many other tables were available, had a waitress who was unprofessional and very unattentive. Had to wait very long time for bread and only when my husband reminded her. He also had to remind when bread was empty. Many faults on service - not our usual experience.
I am a local resident who tries to go to Lubick's once a month as a special treat. It is more than I normally pay at a good restaurant but for that special occasion it is one of the best places to go in NOCO. I am never let down by the excellent quality of the meat, sides and the drinks. I seldom have enough room for dessert, but those are also top notch. I am treated like a king by the staff and always leave with a smile.
We eat here several times a year. Usually great food, great service. Sometimes loud, but that’s just to be expected. Tonight the service was definitely subpar. Incomplete entrees, slow service, inattentive, and disappointing overall. If this had been our first time here, we wouldn’t be back.
Celebrated our Anniversary at Sonny Lubick's. I think this is the finest restaurant in Fort Collins. It has a great combination of location, ambience, and great food. It's expensive, but worth it. We had the steakhouse salads for starters, and two ribeyes and a lobster tail. All were prepared flawlessly. We really like the atmosphere of Sonny Lubick's. It's our go-to place for all special occasions. We also like the live music they have in the bar area on the weekends.
Food was very good -- we had halibut and scallops, so can't comment on the steak! Also the calamari appetizer was very good -- crunchy and came with a delicious dipping sauce. Service was very good also. I look forward to eating there again for a special occasion!
We typically drive to Denver for our dinners out this time we chose to stay somewhat local. We used to go to the Canyon Chop House which is now closed. This was our first time at Sunny Lubick’s, it was good atmosphere, the people were great and the service was also good. We got there at 5:50 for 6 o’clock reservation. We were seated immediately in a great spot. We do not get our food until 7:45. If we were in a group waiting two hours for the food might not seem so bad because of common table conversation however on a one on one date two hours might be a little long?
As for my wife and I, we enjoyed the time away from the kids and didn’t mind the break.
It was nice to find local place that we can go to instead of driving the hour south for dinner.
Wow! What a difference a few years makes! Excellent meal: Oscar filet with sweet potato mash and asparagus. I started with a very tasty spinach salad. Also, I enjoyed a beautiful cabernet which complimented my meal perfectly. We'll definitely return...often.
The preparation of the food was described as sounding very special. Actually it was all just average.
The steak special for $32 was overpriced.
I must say I was very disappointed.
Comparing this place to the many other ones I eat at a lot in Fort Collins I do not see the reason for such a higher price in the meals.
I'm a filet guy, but due to excellent advise of the wait staff we split a Porterhouse and a Ribeye for the table and it was amazing. I have steaks all over the country due to business travel and this is by far one of the best. If you only have one open night in Fort Collins, do not miss this spot. Sides are awesome and service five star.
What do I think of Sonny Lubick Steakhouse? If you are looking for some of the best service you have ever had, or are looking for that level of service that a restaurant SHOULD provide, this is the place for you! Waiter's (Kevin) depth of knowledge was impressive. Supporting staff was VERY friendly, welcoming & adapt to your personality and what is important to you. Leave me alone while I eat? Done! They'll do that. Kid around with me during dinner? Done! They'll do that! Provide an outstanding level of service? Regardless of who you are, how you're dressed, what you order from the menu, you are royalty to them and they treat you as such! Food was creative & very flavorful. My steak was cooked exactly the way I ordered it (not a comment event for me). Butter cake for desert was not what I thought it would be, but still good. Asked to have the bartender "free-style" me a Scotch based cocktail. Success!!!
Kind of pricey for two people pulling out all the stops on ordering, but come on, you're not only paying for the food, but the atmosphere, service & depth of selection. GM came to the table twice to check on us. Now here's the deal on that. Everyone has been in a place where the GM, manager, or some representative wanders by the table, looking for favorable comments, half listens, then walks away with that glaze over their eyes as though you just shared 35mm slides of your entire family vacation history. Well NOT so with this GM. We felt like each and every word was absorbed with great interest.
Bottom line: You get what you pay for at Sonny Lubick Steakhouse!!!!
Everything was great except they overcooked some fish. My wife actually sent it back, something that she never does, and they were very gracious about making things right. Unfortunately, their next attempt with the fish was not much better, but we didn't raise a fuss at that point.
I would go back because the steak was great and the service was top notch. Maybe next time we'll just avoid certain types of fish.
I found Sonny Lubick's to be a good example of how poor ambiance and stiff wait staff can color my view of the food. I had the duck breast and it was excellent. The octopus appetizer was so-so. The cucumber martinis were fabulous. Even the the duck and the martinis were good, I did not enjoy dining at Sonny's. The decor seemed outdated and stodgy for a sports themed steak house. I will not go back.
A trip to Sonny Lubick's is always a gastronomic delight. We moved to Fort Collins a little over one year ago and quickly found SL's to be our favorite spot to dine. The dining room ambiance is private and intimate. Although there are sometimes groups dining there as well, I always have the feeling that it is my own private club. The service is always stellar and on the occasion of my husband's birthday, our waiter, Kevin, proved to be especially accommodating. I've never been disappointed with the food and wine. My favorite is the filet mignon and husband loves the prime rib. They are always cooked to perfection! For dessert, we shared the cheesecake topped with chocolate sauce, with berries and whipped cream on the side which was delicious! Hubs had coffee and I opted for an after dinner cocktail which was divine!
A Sonny Lubick Steakhouse experience is one not to be missed!
Took my boyfriend to Sonny Lubick's Steakhouse for his birthday and we loved it! The restaurant had a great vibe and it was the right amount of intimate. It was very nice but didn't feel bougie or stuffy like some steakhouses can be. The waitstaff was very friendly, helpful and professional. It was honestly the best restaurant service I have ever received in Fort Collins. My boyfriend ordered the Top Sirloin and Garlic Parmesan Mashed Potatoes and I ordered the King Salmon and we loved our meal. Highly recommended!
