I've been to Son Cubano a few times and they never disappoint. The food was delicious. The server was very friendly and efficient. The atmosphere and view were absolutely nice.
Went there for a Valentine's date and it had a wonderful view of the city right on the Hudson. The food was excellent, came out in a timely manner and had quality portions. The service was normal, and slightly slow when it came to refilling drinks but it was packed. It is a gorgeous Location with wonderful food and would go again.
Food was ok. No steak knife with my steak. Over rated. Best part was the view of the city.
Loved the view and the place but the food is poor and is really expensive for the quality of what you receive.
Always great experience at Son Cubano from hostess , bartender, server, music and vibe.
Very nice Valentine’s Day vibe. View was amazing service was quick and very friendly. Food was good. Dessert was the only negative thing I have to say about the place was not impressed but the rest of the experience was 9.5/10
Amazing restaurant... fast service , great food and amazing mix drinks
Great ambience and great knowledge of wine selection. Had a great time and well recommended for a nice date.
Mediocre food compared to the price. Actually bad compared to price. Decent service. Waiter kept trying to take away unfinished food and felt rushed the whole time. But really good surroundings and atmosphere and view of Manhattan.
Over priced, cold food, waited 2hrs to get seated and I had my reservation and arrived early first and last I would never go twice!
Place was very noisy. It took them almost 45-50 minutes to serve the food after order was placed and on top of that food (Marinated Chicken Breast) was cold. Overall atmosphere was good. If you are on dinner date and want to have a peaceful environment, this is not a right place to be.
The place is really nice and the view of NYC was awesome. The food was pricey, but it tasted good. Unfortunately, the service I received was another story. Our server was very busy with a big party table next to ours, and another server had to help him. As a result, the service we received was below average and we
had to wait too long for everything. The live music was great. I might or might not go back, but it will depend on how much I really want to go back.
We had reservations for 745pm. We ended up sitting down at 830. After ordering our meal it also took a very long time and our meals and drink were overpriced.
My wife and I have been to Son Cubano numerous times and it's one of our favorite restaurants because of the ambiance and NYC views. So, I decided to take her here for her Birthday along with my son & his girlfriend. We had 7:30pm reservations that I confirmed multiple times with texts and phone calls. When we arrived they suggested that we wait in the bar until our table was ready. I spent over $100.00 at the bar for drinks and appetizers waiting and we kept asking the host and manager when we would be seated and it was always 5 minutes. We did not get seated until 9:20pm. The Manager was apologetic and did buy us a round of drinks, but still...almost 2 hours to wait for our table. And Dinner did not arrive to our table until well past 10:00pm. While the food and service was acceptable, the food was way overpriced for what we ordered and the customer service wasn't what you'd expect for a high-end restaurant. You are paying for the location and view, not quality or quantity of food. Oh, and then there was a $10 charge for "valet" parking. Very disappointed, we could have spent that kind of money elsewhere.
High ceilings and excellent views are in store for you when you visit this chic, well run restaurant. Menu selection is diverse as is the bar and wine menu. If you are early and lucky enough you can score a view over the Hudson and mid town Manhattan. Service is attentive and the food is fresh and the chef is as top rate as the views over the river. This place is a must at least once, judge for yourself.
The food was delicious. The reason why I have a 4 is because the rice was a bit too dry and the ropa vieja was not as tender. But everything was delicious!!!! Dessert is by far the best. Ambience is romantic and the service is impeccable
The waitress recommended an amazing dish when I asked her preference between one fish or the fish special. She was very polite and accommodating.
We got reservation at 8:45 PM and we got the table at 9:21 PM the drink(margarita) was terrible, the bartender make twice, they don't care about anything and the food so, so, we wait for the car that was in valet for 20 minutes.... one star for Son Cubano🌟
NONE RELIABLE RESERVATIONS
THEY DOUBLE BOOKED ALL THEIR TABLES, BE PREPARED TO WAIT FOR ABOUT AN OUR - WITH RESERVATION-
We made a reservation for 8:15pm, they called to confirm and asked if we had any special requests, I told them that we were celebrating a birthday and that the BD person was my guess and wanted to make sure that everything was going to be smooth the woman that call told me yes not problem we are calling to have your table ready, we arrived at 8:05 and told us that we needed to wait, the wait was 45 minutes, what an embarrassing situation for my husband and I.
The food was exceptional! The best grilled octopus I have ever had! The service was great and the atmosphere was very energetic. The live band can be pretty loud depending on where you are seated. Overall, 5 out of 5 stars!
I made a reservation well in advance and asked for a window table since it was my husband’s birthday and it didn’t happen. That was a bit disappointing. The food was good but a bit overpriced. I guess we’re paying for the location. Our waiter, Jose, was attentive and very nice. The ambiance is modern and night “cluby”, and it actually becomes one.
Great views...food overpriced...food not so authentically Cuban...regular/mediocre...service is above standard and so are the views...
Great ambience, amazing food, and the waiters were there all the way to the end. Can’t wait to go back.
Enjoyed the food immensely. Service a little lack luster especially for a table of 9. I requested a round table and the restaurant never got back to me to let me know they couldn’t accommodate.
Loved Jose! He was super attentive made me feel so comfortable. He was the reason why I will be coming back!
Excellent! My family and I celebrated my mom’s 60th birthday. We had a wonderful time. Great atmosphere.
My overall experience at Son Cubano was mixed. I arrived for a 5:30 early dinner on a Sunday. Live music in the dining room was a nice touch. My party of 2 was promptly sat. At first our server (Alvaro) was no where to be found. It took 15 minutes to put in an order for drinks. Drinks were excellent-Signature Margarita and Remy Sidecar. Our appetizer order and dinner order were taken but our menus were not collected. This resulted in a frustrating experience when our appetizers came and we had no space to place them. I was left to place the menus on an neighbouring table. The food runner did not see the opportunity to get it out of our way. Appetizers were great - ceviche trio and crab cake. Main course was delicious and cooked to perfection -Churrasco and Paella. I would have liked to see the lobster cracked prior to bringing it to the table. My gf struggled to get it open. My concerns with the service could have been address if a manager visited our table (which I would expect at a restaurant of this caliber) but there was no one to be found.
I would consider coming back for drinks and appetizers at the bar but nothing further. I was very disappointed with the service.
I'd probably give it 3.5 Stars if I could. The location and ambiance are sensational. It's a great spot to celebrate an event. Music is real good. The drinks and appetizers are sensational. The main dishes on the other hand, eh. They're ok. The appetizers were just so much better compared to the main courses. And the main courses take a lot of time. I know they are made fresh to order but still. Be nice to get the timing down of the time between appetizer and main course a little better. A little overpriced overall, but with that location and view, it's understandable. All in all, would go back. Maybe check it out in the summer to eat outside with that view
Love it! And I put in the special request for a table with a view and they had it reserved for us! A bit pricey but I guess you pay for the ambiance and view lol Will be back!
Service was terrible. We arrived 15 minutes prior to our reservation but were not seated until 45 minutes after our reservation time since “they were behind”. Upon finally getting seated, the views of New York were ruined by a dirty tarp right outside of the windows. From there the service was so slow. The first thing our server said to us after being seated for almost 10 minutes was “I know you need water but I can’t give you any bc this pitcher is empty.” Great start. Only the apps came out at a reasonable time after ordering. Dinner came out incredibly slow and the server many times looked right at us and then immediately away from us if we made eye contact. We actually wanted dessert but didn’t want to wait another 45 minutes just to get the dessert menu which probably would have happened given the level of service we received all evening. Great ambience (usually) but terrible service. Was a bit embarrassed since we were entertaining an out of town guest.
Food was delicious and good service ! The waitress was friendly, attentive and nice .
Nice place ,nice music ,good foods
Keep up the good work
Excellent service! Barbara is one of the best waitress I have ever encounter!
burger (ordered "medium") was uncooked (white fibers still throughout red raw meat, not anywhere near cooked, was like they served the wrong one) except for slight grey outer edge. waiter was atentative, skilled, and professional. serving assistant clearing plates cleared our knives and didn't replace them, we had to wait to catch the waiter and ask for knives back. the assistant asked my wife if she was done with her salad (while I still had my fork in my hand), cleared her salad plate and then took the last half of my appetizer that I was still eating (without asking me).
was a Prix Fixie night per being the day after newyears, so paid $120 (still tipped 20% per not the waiters fauly) for the privilege of leaving grossed out and hungry. won't go back even though we live a block away.
Food is delicious, service really good too!
Came on Christmas day.. Beautiful view of NYC skyline. Restaurant itself is beautiful, spacious and comfortable. I was a little disappointed the regular menu was not available, but the prefix, 3 course menu with bottomless mimosa was good and a great value of $ 39.99 pp.
Service was friendly but a little slow. Overall, a good experience and I look forward to returning
Food is great. Service is ok and should be improved.
