202 Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
We had a great dining experience, from the food to the service, to the ambiance. My filet was cooked & seasoned perfectly - one of the best I've had. Meals were served with mashed potato and a vegetable medley of broccoli & carrots - all excellent. My husband had a pork chop special which he said was delicious. Appetizers and dessert were also very enjoyable. The service was great, attentive & pleasant. I definitely recommend 202 Steakhouse to anyone looking for a nice dining experience and great steak! The meal was reasonably priced & comparable to other steak restaurants in the area.
The food was decent, however there were too many annoying hiccups with our experience. The waiter was sweet but not attentive to details.
-service was slow
-brought bread, no butter
-put in the wrong order for our sides
-dessert the server didn't know if they had decaf or not
-mispacked our food at the end of the evening.
For the price I would rather go to a place that has the details down
I recently went for brunch. The wait staff was extremely attentive. The lunch type food on the buffet and the hash brown potatoes were very good but the breakfast items were terrible. The pancakes and waffles (Eggo waffles) were prepackaged frozen items that were not even cooked through - they were cold in the center. The scrambled eggs were watery with melted American cheese on top. The croissants and muffins looked like they were purchased at a wholesale club and were cut into pieces. On the positive side, bloody Mary's and mimosas were included in the price.
Food was delicious however we were disappointed how the steak was plated. It should have been put onto a clean plate and considering the prices this should not be a missed step. Also, we really wanted to have the Bananas Foster for dessert however there was no one on site who knew how to do it. Will give them another try, maybe it was a bad night.
All told, 202 Steakhouse serves good basic food at reasonable prices. Service is willing. Drinks were generous. Atmosphere was comfortable, ambience good. Steakhouse does not serve sauce bernaise or other steak sauce except bottled. I had A-1 sauce.
We took our grandsons for dinner. It's a restaurant we've been at many times with them. The food was excellent, service great. Somehow, a few of the ingredients were left out of my husband's salad, which he didn't realize until he was almost finished with it. They brought him another one which had everything in it. The booth was a bit cramped, I wouldn't recommend a booth for "large" people. All in all, it was a lovely dinner.
Fantastic dinner on Friday night. Owner couldn't have been nicer. Very accommodating and friendly. Crab cake delicious and porterhouse for two was cooked perfectly. Nice that it came with potatoes and veggies. We added mushrooms which were also excellent. Completely recommend this gem here in the northern burbs!!
Visited on Saturday night, Memorial Day weekend. We were seated immediately, choice of banquette seating or regular table. Service was adequate, a little odd perhaps, and there was something weird about our server. Energy level was extremely low; probably due to being an off night. The food, however, was delicious. We started by sharing fried calamari, tuna tartare, and a Caesar salad . The calamari was crispy and light. The tuna tartare was minced, on avocado, served with herb toast. The Caesar was ordinary, nothing memorable. Our steaks, however, were memorable and everyone was happy. My men shared a porterhouse for 2, medium rare with no leftovers going home. I loved my petite filet mignon, cooked perfectly at medium. Steaks come with sauteed vegetables and mashed potatoes. Would like to try it again, maybe with a larger group, and bring our own energy!
I had heard about 202 Steakhouse and it has received good reviews. We ordered two of the Porterhouse for 2 , lamb chops and a filet mignon after appetizers of raw oysters and fried calamari. Everyone enjoyed the food and we did take some of the porterhouse home. I must say that although the food was great, it is on the high side for pricing. However, we all agreed to come back soon.
We went to the Sunday brunch to celebrate Mothers Day a week early. We had 11:30 reservations and the side door was locked at 11:25. We walked to front where bar is and one gal was on phone...but no one was there to greet us and dining room was dark. At 11:35, the waitress seated us, and offered us drink. When the rest of our party arrived, we went to buffet, where most of the food was cold. The eggs, waffles, sausage, potatoes, mussels and bacon were all cold. I tried a pice of chicken, which was actually hot and good...but I wanted breakfast. The fruit was decent, but limited to watermelon and grapes croissants were not crispy type, soft and cut in half. The best part was some sliced steak that was brought out by noon. Only sweets were chocolate brownies...which were decent.
A special occasion dinner with part of our family and the food was definitely the star. Creamy burrata over a thickly cut and delicious tomato with warm crusty bread and pesto...grilled octopus and yummy cocktails to start. The perfectly cooked (medium rare) sizzling Porterhouse for 3 was out of this world - add the homemade steak sauce, creamy mashed potatoes and freshly cooked/seasoned veggies left no room for dessert. Honestly, the best steak around with friendly and caring, professional servers. We loved it!
Steak and salads were very good. Restaurant was not crowded so you'd expect a lot more attention and great service. We had to ask for drink refills. And we were ignored once a much larger party arrived. The prices are a bit high for the area. There are upper class restaurants with better service in the area I'd choose over this one next time.
Delicious food with excellent & friendly service. Dined during Hudson Valley Restaurant Week so lunch was &22.95. Great selections: soup/salad starters; numerous entree options ( pasta, seafood, chicken & steak); dessert. I had the salad, chicken scarparello, & Italian cheesecake. Would definitely return!
I've heard good things about Somers 202 Steakhouse but didn't visit until this weekend.
The decor is simple and warm. We love the booths and the fireplace and hardwood floors definitely add to the ambiance.
We ordered the beet salad appetizer which our guests loved and then all of us had steak. (I mean...how can you NOT - it's a Steakhouse!) Rib eye, Strip and Filet. OMG! They were outstanding! I forgot how delicious a steak can be. They were all cooked perfectly. Each dish was served with mashed potatoes and a vegetable and we added steak fries, creamed spinach and asparagus. The whole meal reminded me of a NYC steakhouse. It was THAT good!
Even the service was excellent. The owners stopped by the table a few times to make sure we were enjoying our meal and actually thanked us for coming in! (When was the last time someone did THAT!?)
For dessert, we ordered the caramelized strawberries over ice cream. So delicious!
There are a couple of places to get a decent steak up here that have a cheaper price point but all I can say is...You get what you pay for!
Definitely give this restaurant a try - it is SO worth it!
This restaurant has yet to disappoint me. This was probably my 6th visit and I can honestly say that the service is friendly and inviting. This time I tried the Halibut which was one of their specials that night. So many times at other restaurants they seem to dry out the fish making for a very disappointing meal. But 202 did a great job cooking it perfectly moist and flaky.
Keep trucking guys. You're doing great
Just not so great. Gristley porter house that took way too long to cook on a very slow Monday. Servers often involved in chit chat and not paying attention to the table. Strange, too old broadway show tunes playing too loudly in the background.
202 Steakhouse is our favorite restaurant. From the minute you walk thru the door you are made to feel welcome and special. The waitstaff are wonderful, friendly and attentive. The food is outstanding, especially the steaks (porterhouse for two, can't go wrong). Appetizers and desserts are great too.
Unfortunate. I was impressed by the ambitious new dinner (only) menu and reviews and wanted to have a nice if pricey dinner with my wife. I have not used web reservations but got one through Open Table at 1 pm on a Sunday, based on my request for early an time....Open Table said that there were multiple other reservations around that time. On later inspection, the hours on the website are "3-11". On arrival the maitre-d said "brunch!?". No other diners. Nice table, attentive waiter. The buffet food had a nice range but was cold. Sort of one step above a hotel 'breakfast included'. The staff was trying to please, and to their credit they 1. added an extra mimosa, 2. cooked up some slices of steak, and 3. looked embarassed.
In conclusion: they have to add brunch to their website and keep it hot or drop it; could they have offered a dinner menu?; I will only use the telephone to make restaurant reservations in the future.
The food is consistently good and the atmosphere is cozy. The steaks are beautifully prepared. However, this time around I shared the Tuna special and the lamb chops with my friend. The lamb was PERFECT. The Tuna was good but not great. I like my Tuna rare and this was just a little over cooked for me. Nevertheless, it was a good piece of Tuna and I'd give it another try
