We enjoyed our meal at Sol Toro in the Mohegan Sun Casino. The complimentary chips and salsa were outstanding - the salsa was so good, we asked for two more bowls, and the server was happy to do so. Service was good for a Saturday night and it was convenient to make a reservation via Open Table, as the casino restaurants often are very very busy on Saturdays. The only thing that was disappointing were the prices...I paid $14.00 for a cheese quesadilla with a side of rice and refried beans...that's alot in comparison to other Mexican restaurants in the area. But it is in the casino, and people with "points" on their cards don't really care about the price since they are not paying. As non-gamblers (we go for shows and shopping) it's a bit irritating to pay more because the frequent gamblers who pay with points are oblivious and the restaurants get away with over charging for food, but we would dine at Sol Toro again.
Maria was an excellent server! 5 stars! We loved the tacos.
A bit pricey
Amazing staff and waiter. Food was all that and more. I came out fast tasted delicious and paired well with our drinks. I highly recommend
The music and ambiance were great. The food was just okay. I ordered the sizzling chicken fajitas which was not sizzling at all and the fajitas were cold.
We used to love going here when we visited Mohegan Sun for a fun atmosphere and good food. Our latest experience was less than impressive. First, let me say that our waitress was very attentive and professional. The food was just OK. My tacos were not very flavorful and were cold. The beans and rice that came with them where just OK as well. My husband got a burrito and he seemed to be happy with his meal except he thought his beef tasted like pork. The highlight of the meal was the guacamole, which was delicious. My other issue was the Margaritas. I have to say the one I got tasted very good, but if you took out all the ice that was in the small glass it came in, there really isn't much of a drink. I wouldn't mind so much if the drinks were $5.00, but when you are paying $10-12 per drink, I expect more than a couple of sips. Overall, a disappointing New Year's Eve dinner. If I ever go here again, I would sit at the bar and get the guacamole with a beer.
Food was sub par. Tacos and guac were bland. Sangria wa not very flavorful. Not much fruit.
As always Sol Toro provides a great night out. The food was terrific ( mixed grill) and the drinks are made well. The atmosphere always seems to be in a party mood and friendly . We love this place
We came for dinner on New Year's Eve. The table side guac was delicious although the portion for 2 is a little meager. Our friends got the nachos with chicken which was another very good appetizer. All of us enjoyed our entrees except for the black beans. We expected actual black beans but it was more like refries. Other than that, I would definitely go back for dinner
Such great food and wonderful waiter!!! Will be back!
