Solstice Ratings and Reviews
Please realize this was Christmas day. We booked via open table weeks in advance and was told we can only get a 3:30 dinner reservation. Place was empty so we took our time and our waiter ms name was Justin I think. He was great! Food was a buffet and I'm not to fond of them. Basic prime rib and turkey etc. food was ok. Next door is a bar lounge restaurant called the hourglass which has the same exact menu and is first come first serve. Overall it was a great experience.
We absolutely were treated like Royalty for the evening. My wife loved the Norwegian Salmon extremely moist and flavorful and I enjoyed the NY Steak. The experience was highlighted by the attentive staff lead by our waitress Dawn. She was very knowledgeable, especially about the local goings on... This is a great place to relax and enjoy contemporary dining after a day on the slopes, very warm and engaging.
I guess the typical location was under construction so we ended up in a banquet hall like atmosphere, it was cold, a table sat down 10 mins after us but received service first, even though we had the same server. Once we got service he was pleasant but timely not so much. The food was good but not great as I was expecting. Lots of room for improvement at Solstice.
Really enjoyed our meals here. We had dinner and breakfast and the food was very good. I just wish the main restaurant was not under construction. I think it took away from the atmosphere a bit, but the wait staff was very friendly and gave us many suggestions for activities around town.
This was just terrible. The service was so bad . They bar was out of an ingredient for several drinks featured on the menu. The crab carbonara was lacking crab and over peppered. Ordering water for our daughter took 20 minutes to arrive at our table and that was after asking a manager for it. I could list a few other things, too
Solstice was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we have had. I was shocked that it has received such good reviews in the past. We were not offered bread before our meal and no coffee was offered after. My husbands lamb was mostly fat and inedible. The prices were way too high for what you get, portion were inadequate . I'm a light water and left feeling hungry. Dessert tasted like it was out of a box. Never again!
I was there two years ago and had a great experience. This past week we were staying at the Stowe Mountain Lodge with the Southern Seniors Golf Association, so I made a reservation for my wife and I and six close friends. The evening was a disaster. Very limited menu for supposedly a fine dinning restaurant, slow service and cold food. I should have known, as someone that I played golf with that day, told me they walked out the night before when they still hadn't received their dinners in over an hour after ordering. Never again. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.
We were with a large group all staying at the resort. In spite of being told some of our friends waited two hours for their food the night before and finally walked out without waiting the night before, our group decided to still give it a try.
We were seated, presented menues and ordered in a timely manner. Our food came in a timely manner and it was OK. JUST OK
For the price, and the few offerings on the menu, I would not recommend eating here. It is convenient if you are staying at the resort, but eat in the bar or drive to a better restaurant.
My wife were looking forward to returning to Soltice. Initially, were were disappointed because the menu had been completely overhauled with more limited starters. However, despite the reduced/modified menu, the food ended up being excellent and the service friendly.
In Stowe for a meeting, this was the hotel restaurant and meals were included as part of the program. While the food was very well prepared and appealing from both a presentation and taste perspective, service was very spotty and slow. Dinners were a 3-hour affair, with significant time waiting for service, waiting for food, and between courses. While meal vouchers were part of the program, I would have been unhappy paying the prices listed on the menu for the service received.
We went to dinner expecting the normal menu which is pricey, but a "fine dining" experience, On this night, they had a Food Around the World buffet instead of "fancy" menu. We were there for a lacrosse tournament and had three teens with us so it ended up a wonderful choice. The food was really really good. The buffet price was also $25 for all you could eat. You couldn't beat it. Selection was great and the staff was wonderful.
We were here on July 3, so a very busy night. Our wait staff, Brandy, , was fabulous!
The food and service were outstanding. Because it was a fireworks night, there were many more "casual diners " than usual, which detracted a bit from the ambiance. That said, it was still a great dining experience. Highly recommend and we will return on a less hectic night !
A poor showing for Solstice. First the good. Beautiful facility and view of mountains. Unfortunately that was it. Wine Service was poor. Prices were bloated even by luxury resort standards but to be expected. The killer was the general lack concern for listening to guests. My wife has a dairy allergy and Solstice simply isn't prepared to accommodate these situations. All menu items, minus the salad , had butter or cream. Same for desserts. All cheeses were cow and no sheep or goat option. When we advised of the allergy and ordered the salmon with no diary, the dish came with a cream sauce. We don't expect a resto to change their business model for our personal situation but they should be capable of listening. Conversely, we went to a brewery up the street for lunch and when they learned of the allergy , the chef , without asking, offered a couple of off menu suggestions to pair with the local beers which totally shocked us. I would have expected the opposite to be the case. In general, Solstice was more interested in flipping the table than he overall experience. Disappointing.
Lobster risotto was excellent
Chicken was delicious waitress was friendly and extremely prompt and professional apple crumble was top notch. We loved the whole experience. It was very expensive but we figured off season in VT a living has to be made. We will certainly return
Best rack of lamb ever, with wine, and exeptional service from Brandy. Restaurant requires a more intimate atmosphere. Decor was lacking, need to separate diner secting from gourmet dining area. FOR 65TH BIRTHDAY, HAD A MEMORABLE MEAL. COMPLIMENTS TO THE CHEF. THE DECOR AND ATMOSPHERE DO NOT DO JUSTICE TO THE QUALITY OF THE FOOD.
The menu and prices are much better suited for a special occasion restaurant than for a restaurant in a hotel where eating a high quality meal elsewhere would require getting in a car and driving off property. We enjoyed the dinner but thought it was considerably overpriced and not the kind of food we'd want to eat many nights in a row. Not surprising that there were few other diners the night we were there.
The service was the worst that I have had in a very long time. We ate with our three kids and it took over an hour just to get bread, which was cold when it arrived. We asked the manager to check on our food and the rest of the food took an additional 30 minutes plus to arrive. They didn't even offer to take anything after our bill. Although very convenient, I doubt if we will return to the restaurant. We had a similar experience in January, but decided to try it again. Bad choice on our part. 2 strikes
The atmosphere was comfortable. The location was perfect. The food was decent, but expensive. The wait time when we were there was ridiculous. We sat at our table and waited about 50 minutes for our food after our order was taken. We waited about 20 minutes for our dessert (ice cream shouldn't take that long to prepare). The "artisanal bread basket" that costs $4 is really awful. Cold bread that wasn't as good as what I buy from Shoprite. The wooden box gave me a splinter. Seriously, if they offered the bread for free I would decline!
Brutally overpriced. As in, this is borderline unethical. Everything has Manhattan prices without the Manhattan quality. They even charge $4 for a basket of cheap bread! $15 Lobster bisque without a single shred of lobster. It's chicken broth and tomato paste or something of that consistency. It's offensive. We were "taken" by this place.
The whole place is a bad value. Total rip off. Would never recommend the food and the service was all with a smile but outrageously slow. It's a bunch of high school kids with limited experience.
It all wouldn't be such a big deal if the pricing wasn't so out of market. But $52 for a NY strip steak that's over cooked and $36 for scallops that are over salted. It's offensive.
I was so looking forward to this restaurant, it had great food reviews. Our waitress could not wait to get us in and out as quickly as possible, when we indicated we were not in a hurry, she basically disappeared for most of the meal. The food was very average, we were so disappointed. Most of all it was overrun with kids everywhere, don't get me wrong we love them, but at the end of the ski day, perhaps it was not our best choice, it was difficult to enjoy our meal with kids running into our chairs, screaming in the restaurant and shouting to their parents to hurry up as they were bored. Overall, sad it was not as I had expected.
Solstice has improved over the years. My wife and I had lamb and beef this time and Stephanie was knowledgeable of the Chef team's creation and matched our preferences to the day's offerings. We were seated at a calm and positive location of the high-ceilinged restaurant. My wife and I enjoyed a great supper experience at Solstice.
