We went to Solstice before a show at the Performing Arts Center; they were aware of our time constraints and got us out in plenty of time. The halibut was perfectly done and the filet mignon was tender enough to cut with a fork. Both were memorably delicious.
The food was incredible and John, our server, was fantastic! One of the best places to eat in Stowe!
The only reason to go to this restaurant is if you're staying at the Stowe Mountain Inn and are too lazy to go anywhere else for dinner, and want to spend a lot of money. Although the food is excellent, the service was terrible. Not sure this was all the wait staff's fault - the kitchen was incredibly slow despite having a large number of people working in it (it was in view from the dining area, and most of the people working in the kitchen seemed to be on marijuana or heroin - management needs to get them to switch to cocaine or amphetamines). Almost all the people eating in the restaurant were families with small children (not sure why you would take small kids to a restaurant were the average meal will cost you $75-100) which did not make for an ambience consistent with the high prices. The coup-de-gras is that you have to park a half mile from the restaurant, as there is no parking in the new Stowe village anywhere close to the restaurant.
Fun night at a beautiful resort.
Amazing food. The restaurant didn’t match the hotel though, it was more contemporary
Enjoyed an excellent meal to celebrate my father-in-law's birthday. The staff was extremely knowledgeable (e.g., the server could even tell us the specific farm in Canada used to source the Elk I ordered, and describe it in detail), and the food was outstanding. I ordered a Tuna starter, along with a couple orders of the Cauliflower for the table, and had the Coffee-Rubbed Elk as my main dish. Everything was excellent.
They had fantastic cocktails, as I enjoyed an "Aztec Old Fashioned" before dinner (an old fashioned featuring Rum and Maple Liqueur, if I recall correctly), and a delicious Espresso Martini in place of dessert.
I would be happy to go back anytime.
Extremely over priced for the quality of food. There was nothing special about the food or the service. I would recommend driving into town instead of eating up on the mountain if you have the option to do so.
Lovely decor and fun apre ski location, no views of mountain, but wintery and beautiful ski restaurant. Veryyyy pricey as in average glass , a glass, of wine close to $17 . Food was delicious and nice greens salad $10, but there is only over $30, closer to $35 , entrees, and Dress is casual, it is VT and a ski area. Fun if you want to spend about $75 extra than on a yummy meal.
The food was just not very good. Scallops were underdone and way overseasoned. They just had too much going on and it ruined the scallops. Pricey and not great food.
Rushed appetizers and entrees, waitstaff must have asked ten times “how is everything”, food was bland and over cooked - needless to say overpriced - drive a few miles and have a decent meal for much less
We just don’t understand why the food is so poor at such a great resort. The scrambled eggs are not real eggs. If they were- shame. Maybe that’s why they cover them in scallions. They were out of eggs when we went to the buffet too and took 10 minutes to get. The sausage has no flavor. Service so slow. All the food was very mediocre or worse. Breakfast is so easy so don’t understand . They tried to be fancy with egg burritos etc station but they can’t be good if you don’t have good eggs in them. It’s Vermont. You expect good eggs. They need an omelet /eggs station instead of a pay extra for drink station.
Food, Service, Atmosphere was all outstanding. Best that Stowe has to offer
The food was outstanding -- creative and delicious-- but be prepared to pay exorbitant prices for it. Ambiance was not cozy but rather more cafeteria-like, probably due to the fact that it's located in a busy ski lodge with families everywhere. The whole head of baked cauliflower appetizer was unusual and yummy; we dipped our bread in the remaining sauce. Note that the sides are double portions. With prices like these, you only go once.
Broke my usual rule of bread is precursor to the food quality. In this case, bread was poor (stale) but food was well executed.
Very nice dinner. Curry squash soup excellent. Scallops were perfect. Great service!
Empty restaurant but still served poorly cooked chicken(so dry) and risotto that looked to have sat under a heat lamp. Really sad as we had been really looking forward to eating at Solstice.
Food was delicious and cannot thank our waiter John enough for the remarkable service! My boyfriend and I stayed on property for a weekend to celebrate our anniversary and John really went above and beyond to make sure our dinner at Solstice was special. Tremendous customer service; both friendly and attentive. (He had us half-convinced to move to Stowe). Great travel recommendations from him as well. We had a hard time leaving! It's service like this that really sets these places apart. We will be back!
One of the best meals ever! We both had the shushi special and acorn squash soup. Cocktails were very good too! I highly recommend!!
The food and ambience were wonderful. The wait staff was very attentive and helpful. My boyfriend and I capped off the night with drinks by their fire pit outside. We'll definitely come again when we come back to Vermont!
Booked for dinner here. Long delays to get starter, which arrived cold. They corrected this and recooked again. Good quality food, when you eventially get it, but due to delays in kitchen service cannot recommend. Waiter was excellent. Tried to make amends.
Good ambiance, so had good expectation, especially given the price. Ordered shrimp, unsuccessful effort at sophistication, but ok. If you really want to taste Argentinian prawns, try Mifune in NYC. But then the steak was terrible. Not just that medium rare came out as medium, it was tough and bone dry with outside burnt tasting like charcoal. For the price, not again.
It was amazing!!!!! The new Executive Chef Sean makes Solstice a destination dining experience. The food was incredible and full of flavor!! This is a must go to place if you are in Stowe. The service was perfect to match the perfect food!!
Decent food. Good apps. Over-priced restaurant posing as a high end restaurant. Convenient if staying at the resort. Know what you are getting and you will be only minimally disappointed.
We had an excellent dinner to celebrate our anniversary! We were also celebrating with our friends who also had an anniversary. Great ambiance and delicious food! Our waiter was excellent and offered to accommodate all our needs. We also had a great table by the fireplace!
It was a very memorable and wonderful night for all of us!
Beautiful restaurant but very disappointed with menu. Small entree selection.
Server forgot our dessert and never apologized. It certainly left a negative experience for us.
Enjoyed a recent dinner at Solstice while staying at the Lodge. Service was exceptional and overall the food was very good. I had the risotto and my wife the scallops. Both were excellent. One disappointment was the tiramisu which was quite dry and didn't impress. However overall this was a very good meal nicely accompanied by an excellent wine list.
We have gone to Solstice every year since they have been opened for a special dinner with friends when we vacation in Vermont. It is unbelievable how this restaurant, which we considered fine dining, has deteriorated. They use to promote local 'everything' from cheeses and produce to local fish and meats.
I suspected something had changed when they did not return my call when I tried to make reservations (so I ended up making them through Open Table). The menu selection is horrible, nothing for a vegetarian (my wife). I order the Quattro Fromage Ravioli for an appetizer and it was two small raviolis submerged under olive oil. We ordered broccolini as a side vegetable and it was so burnt it was inedible. The Salmon was not wild. They were out of the pork entree. I ordered scallops and they were burn, flavorless disgusting. Dinner for four people with cocktails was $363.00 plus tip.
The chef has no idea what he is doing. Reminds me of an unskilled novice who thinks if he decorates the plate with a smear of carrot puree he has done something upscale. Dinner was an embarrassment. We won't be back. The question is why would Stowe Mountain Lodge which is an upscale facility denigrate their showcase restaurant?
The food was excellent, but the service was extremely slow and the restaurant wasn't even busy. I'm not sure if it's worth going back.......it's too bad since the food was so good.
Food was very good however the sushi was a bit ordinary and bland.
Service was exceptional as usual.
Summer brunch when Stowe Mountain Resort was very quiet. Day was beautiful but there was no outdoor seating available. Windows in resort didn't open either...sort of strange...but I guess it's geared to only winter dining.
Prices were very high..$28 per adult but no real "wow" in food nor atmosphere. Server was very sweet!!
My husband and I recently celebrated our first anniversary at Solstice. We had left a comment on our Open Table reservation. We were greeted with congratulations from the hostess, champagne glasses with strawberries were waiting on our table, our waitress greeted us by pouring a bottle of champagne. The manager stopped by our table to check in and wished us a happy anniversary. After enjoying our fabulous meal, our waitress surprised us with a platter of chocolate covered strawberries! Thoughtful staff and creative fare, definitely a great spot for a romantic dinner!
Service was solid. Attentive staff. Food was so so, given the price. Bistro steak was not seasoned. Accompanying potatoes and corn were over cooked. Dessert was nice.
This was a family get-together. Was disappointed not to be in the main part of the dining area like last year, by the window, and despite the fact that other tables were empty we were placed RIGHT next to another occupied table.
Excellent setting looking at the beautiful mountains. Food was fresh and delicious. Staff attentive.
Wonderful dinner celebrating my parents 50th wedding anniversary. They even helped to coordinate flowers and a great cake from their in-house bakery. Highly recommended.
We were treated exceptionally well by the staff. Service was great, dinner was fantastic, dessert was underwhelming.
favorites were the salmon poke appetizer, and both of our entrees, but the best entree we had of the two was the dayboat scallops with cous cous. The herbed butter and the cous cous were very good.
We only had the tiramisu for dessert, which was comped to us for our anniversary (as well as a couple glasses of champagne). Very nice, and unexpected gesture. The tiramisu wasn't very good, but the staff made us feel very good on our special occasion. We will be back.
Wow. We went there for a wedding, but our anniversary was the day before, so we came early. We had a great meal and great service. I don't eat much beef but had the pot roast and it was outstanding. My wife had the salmon, same review. Service was great and they gave us special stuff for our anniversary. And what a beautiful setting!
Surprisingly disappointing ( we had eaten there about 3 years ago and enjoyed it very much), quality of the food was mediocre for rather expensive menu, which was quite limited in the first place.
The service and food was great. Our waiter was polite and professional and helped make our evening very enjoyable. He was knowledgeable about the various wines and made suggestions that complimented our food choices.
The entrees were beautifully presented, good portion size and delicious.
