We arrived early for our reservation and the greeter/seater marked us as a no-show. We sat at the bar for a beverage and Eli was slammed. There was a giant group having a party. He was a little short with us at first, but we assured him we were in no hurry and he quickly warmed up. We had a drink and a small pizza as an appetizer. Pizza was great, super thin crust, fontina and mushrooms. We moved to our table and Eli became our waiter. I asked him to help me select a wine as I was unfamiliar with most of them. He was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed the selection. It was also a Wednesday so the bottle was half price. The food was great. 2 of us had the papardelle (house-made) with bolognase and we shared an order of meatballs. Just delicious. Our third person had the seafood and pasta dish. He said he wasn't that crazy about it but ate every bite. We thought it was pricey, but I think it is probably standard in a big city. If it was closer, I'm sure we would visit again.
Family owned and run restaurant with wonderful food. It was very enjoyable sitting outside and watching people walk around. They validated parking which is always a plus in my book.
Small and great service looks like it's family ran which is great
Gnudi was top notch. Split a salad to start. We sat outside and it was lovely weather. Overall great little place.
I brought my wife there for Valentine's Day and it was absolutely amazing!
The food was excellent and the atmosphere was great. Very nice place to take your sweetheart on Valentine's weekend.
Loved the acorn squash appetizer with Burrata, the Verdura with salmon, and the wonderfully delicate Tiramisu. WILL DEFINITELY RETURN!
This is a lovely restaurant with delicious Italian food. All of the staff were attentive, caring, and delightful. The food was delicious. Quite plentiful portions too. Delicious homemade pasta and other items. Great bread and salads.
The owner visited with us and made it a very personal, nice experience. We would definitely go back and encourage others to try it out.
The food was very fresh, well prepared and unusual for Italian. Everything was tasty and a surprising combinations of ingredients. The ambiance was wonderful and low keyed. The value was amazing for everything from appetizers to entrees and to dessert. Can't wait to visit again. Will definitely recommend this restaurant and hopefully will be able to get a reservation in the future!
I'd been hearing about Solo T for quite a while and finally had the opportunity to go with my wife and another couple. We were all very pleased with the service (Shawn), food and wine recommendation (and the homemade Lemoncello was excellent - thanks John!). We were lucky enough to drop by on their 50% off bottles of wine Wednesday and tried different appitiezers, entrees and desserts and all were very good, if not excellent (flatiron steak a bit rare for my taste, but excellent flavor).
We found the food here to be delicious. The homemade meatballs were the best I have ever had. Also the homemade pasta is a must, I had the chicken marsala and it was amazing. Will definitely come back again.
Excellent service and interesting menu. We really enjoyed the food and the service was terrific. The restaurant is clearly family owned and operated. We were waited on by one of the family members. He provided excellent service and had great knowledge of his menu and, his specific creations on the menu. Very enjoyable.
Fun family restaurant with great italian food! We enjoyed our dishes.
We've been enjoying Solo for a couple of years. Family run, excellent food and service. They have never disappointed us. A hidden gem for sure.
They tried REALLY hard and had a lot of potential so it deserves another visit, but this was just BAD. Service wasn't great, maybe they were short staffed but everyone was very appropriately apologetic. We waited a very long time for everything, bread, appetizer, entree and dessert. Each course took a long, long time. At least the food was hot so they wait was in getting the food, not it sitting there. When it finally came, after we got up to inquire both for appetizer and entree, the food tasted good. The hot lava cake was cold, not even, room temp. We didn't complain because at this point we wanted to be done but they knew and brought us a second one. Not any better- cold on the inside but again, the flavor was great.
Any place can have an off night-this was theirs- but we will try again because they deserve another chance.
Service great as usual, meatballs melt in your mouth.
My parents just moved to the Esplanade and we needed a place to eat while unpacking boxes. Solo Trattoria is 800 steps away and was perfect for us. It was quiet, cozy, and family run. Jon (the owner's son and on site manager) was on duty and his enthusiasm for and knowledge of spirits was infectious. The food was good, particularly the beet salad. Minor changes to the dish were accommodated with a smile. They offer a seasonally changing menu, a hallmark of a restaurant interested in providing the freshest and most flavorful ingredients.
We'll be back!
Pasta was great - service even better. Definitely would go back.

Extensive menu, well executed. We've visited Solo half a dozen times, and the food, service, and ambiance have been outstanding each time.
Pasta noodles and risotto were cooked just right! And the fancy pork belly brulee was excellent.
What a great find in Scottsdale! This family owned and operated restaurant was fabulous. Fresh menu items and personal service. Our server gave us awesome recommendations and everyone loved their food. I would definitely recommend this to anyone in the area. The complimentary Limoncello was the best!
It is a family owned restaurant and my friends and I are addicted to this place! We've made it a once a month get together here. The food and wine options are fantastic and what puts this place over the top for us is John, one of the sons. He has been there each time we go and he is so passionate when he comes over and talks to us about the food. (a huge plus for us foodies!) He is also very dedicated to learning the wines they serve and always knows what we'll like, even when we may think opposite. :-) He makes us try something and he's always spot on with our taste preference. I'm so glad we stumbled upon this place one night after a movie, it's a special find!!
Inside Esplanade Center and not visible from street level, family owned and operated Solo Trattoria offers delectable Italian cuisine. Ingredients are fresh, pasta hand made and dessert sumptuous. Seating and lighting are not the best. Parking validation provided.
Our server, Sean, was excellent. He gave us service that you can find only in the finest restaurant. For starters we the pork belly which was good. The bruschetta had stewed tomato and a sweetness that came from either the bread or the tomatoes which I did not like. I prefer my bruschetta with fresh tomato and basil leaf. The Gnudi was tasty and the braised beef was delicious and very tender. The Mahi was just OK. The grilled chicken with spaghetti was the best, the chicken was seasoned and grilled just right and the spaghetti was a very delicious. The special was the flat iron steak. It was good and tender. This is a fine dining restaurant and priced as such. Taking that into consideration, I would say it is average in its class, except for the service which is excellent.
Delicious as usual. Keep up the good kitchen and service.
We have been to Solo several times and have recommended it to friends and family. The food, wine selection and service is exceptional.
I'm very picky and I gave 5 stars for food. Someone (john I think) can cook - pasta and shrimp cooked perfectly. So you say what's the big deal? My answer is I've been to all the better restaurants in the valley, actually az, and the perfect cooking of pasta and shrimp is not common place - steak maybe but rarely fish and pasta and yes I include shrimp w/ fish. Anyhow, go for the good. You'll be happy. Service was excellent. Need to get real martini olives or blue cheese stuffed olives for martinis - just saying.
We decided to try this place because it's close to our apartment and had decent reviews on Yelp--we were horribly disappointed. Service was sub-par, our waiter brought the bread we requested after our entrees had arrived and rarely checked in. This wouldn't have been as big of an issue if our appetizer had been edible.
The food was extremely amateur; we could have made much better pizza and pasta at home. The pasta was swimming in butter/oil. Avoid the pork belly appetizer, unless you enjoy chewing on fat. Extremely overpriced for cafeteria-quality food. As for the ambiance: close to every inch of the walls are covered in terrible and mismatched paintings.
I was pleased to find out that this place is not super formal.(I went during a game that was televised) It has a nice business causal vibe with great staff and food. Portions are just right not to much not to little. Beware it is a little hidden in the middle of the complex just west of the theater.
Superb service, excellent food, they never hurry you. Menu changes depending on what is locally source available and there are always surprises. A secret 'gem' of a restaurant with reasonable prices and a great overall experience. Highly recommended!
This place was amazing. The first wine choice was not to my liking and my server presented a second choice which was on special that was not listed in the wine list. It was a beautiful Pinot Noir.
I am vegetarian and so the choices were great. A Beet Salad with golden beets, goat cheese, walnuts arugula. To die for! The Verdure (Spaghetti Squash) was made more vegetarian with an addition of brussel sprouts, asparagus, tomatoes and other vegetables with a just the right amount of cheese. I was in heaven! I finished that off with a cheese platter (cheddar, goat cheese and Fontina) of jams and crostini. Wow, it hit the spot.
It is a little hard to find but they make it up by validating parking. A wonderful romantic or group place with a unique and delectable menu.
from the food to the service to the great setting this place came in on top, even the owners son came out to talk to us to make sure that everything was perfect for our anniversary night out,i have told many ppl about this place already and will keep doing so for times to come...thanks for the great night Solo
Food was excellent and our server was very knowledgeable and helpful. The live music was just right and not overwhelming the intimate space. The menu was great offering something for everyone. I will definitely be back!
Had a fantastic meal. At the recommendation of others tried the meatballs and the tiramisu. Was not disappointed with either. Got a relatively cheap bottle of wine with dinner but was not disappointed there either. Service was excellent. Our server was a younger man, I'm afraid I didn't catch his name, but he was extremely attentive, food came amazingly fast, and he even brought us some of the house limoncello with the check.
Girlfirend and I both love local art, so the gallery style was fantastic with all the art on the walls. Prices were surprisingly reasonable as well, though we didn't pick any up. Not extremely traditional setting, but definitely a great date and a good meal.
We love everything about Solo Trattoria. The food is inspired, and very tasty. We have returned many times. The prices are reasonable, as well.
Great experience as usual. The Pomo risotto and Maltagliata were superb. Wonderful service and the owner, Jackie, makes the evening special with her personal touch.
Meatballs app was awesome. Chicken Marsala was great.
The food, service and ambiance were all outstanding at Solo. The Chicken Marsala was flavorful and tender, with plenty of mushrooms on a bed of pasta……..what a delicious dish! And the special fish dish of the day, Ono, was wonderfully prepared…..tender, flaky and delightful. We shared the Beet Salad at it never disappoints. If you've never been to Solo Trattoria, you should try it out! Parking is free with validation in the Esplanade garage.
Debbie was our server, and she was outstanding. She knows the menu backwards and forwards, and made excellent suggestions. We shared a beet salad, followed by chicken piccata and verdure with steak (just the right amount of rare). Creme brulee cheesecake and tiramisu were our dessert choices. Everything was delicious.
