Solo Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
The service was excellent even though the restaurant was full. The menu was a good balance and the specials were excellent. The salads were large and very tasty. The seafood and the veal chops were excellent as were the pasta dishes. The family enjoyed the meal and the cannoli for dessert topped off a delicious meal.
The restaurant was "solid", but not very busy, but it was a Thursday night. We sat in a room with the sliding door opened, and a concert down the street, the concert was very noisy. Our server was quite new, and not familiar with the menu, or all the proper aspects of waitering, but I'm certain he will learn. Fodd was very tasty and fresh.
We've driven by so many times, always saying let's try it. Finally we did and we're not sorry! Delicious warm ceaser salad to start, big enough for two. They serve delicious warm bread. He had the salmon special which came with fresh vegetables. I had shrimp in homemade pasta with a light tomato sauce. Both delicious!! We skipped dessert, too full. Wait staff very attentive. What a fabulous find, we'll definitely be back and soon!!
Our friends came in from Long Island and are used to very good restaurants. I read reviews about Solo Trattoria and so I booked on Open Table. Everyone said their meal was excellent. It helped that we had a table in the front by the window . Service was excellent and food delicious...tuna/veal/chicken/salmon...four different dishes and all were yummy.
We've been to Solo a few times and never been disappointed. This time, however we were not as thrilled. While the service is consistently good, our meals were so-so. The salmon special was too salty, and their version of eggplant parmigiana was not as tasty as I remembered, and I've had the same dish every time I've been to Solo. While we'll probably go back, my friends will definitely not.
I think the poor service really ruined my last dinner. My pear salad arrived with no pears and my waiter was no where to be found. Finally the bus boy corrected the mistake but 15 minutes later. The food was just okay on this particular Saturday night, but the pasta night I went to previously on a Tuesday with girl friends was really nice. Stick with pasta night!
Good food, good service, but nothing outstanding. Narrow restaurant with separate small rooms. Would be good for quiet conversation. White tablecloths make it nice and front room is good for people watching. We were there on a Sunday night and the only ones in the restaurant so it was a little awkward. Probably would have had a better experience on a busier night. Worth a try though especially with a coupon.
Excellent food. It was typical Italian fare but with a twist. Our table shared the handmade chips with drizzled gorgonzola truffle sauce, amazing. I also had Rigatoni with Braised Oxtail, again amazing. The service was very good, attentive but not overbearing. They also did not rush us at all, which we appreciated. It's BYOB, but there's a liquor store across the street. There aren't too many places in Jersey that I would go back to again, but Solo Trattoria is definitely one of them.
Made a reservation at 7:55 for 8:15 being we were starving at it appeared they had immediate availability. Ended up waiting almost 50 mins to be seated. Finally sat at 9:05 ish. Really unacceptable considering they were still taking reservations for available tables. Once sat, the service was average at best. Waiter really didn't check on us and I had to ask for water several times even though my glass was empty and very visible. The food was decent. The food is a little pricey for what you get. Very disappointed in service and overbooking of tables. I'm very on the fence if I would go back for dinner again.
