Noise level was deadly largely because of a large party in the small room.
This excellent restaurant is closing as the owners want (understandably) to move on after these many years. Go while you still can.

A great meal- loved that tomato salad with tapenade. Loved finding that Dr Frank semi-dry Riesling on the wine list. All dishes were superbly prepared and delicious.

Unfortunately, Solo Bistro is closing. We have never been disappointed any time that we've patronized the restaurant. Local ingredients whenever possible, fantastic food--the hangar steak nearly melts in your mouth!--and outstanding service combined with a low-key atmosphere along with an impressive wine list make this place a wonderful place to eat. We will miss dining here very much. If you get the opportunity to eat here, don't pass the opportunity up! It's not the least expensive option in downtown bath but it's our favorite and is well worth the few extra dollars you'll spend.

GO BEFORS THEY CLOSE!!! i was infirmed the owners are closing yhis place afyet 15 years someyime yhis fall. Its wiryh the ytril or food before they do!
I went here on recommendations on open table. Was very impressed with the food on taste and presentation.
We had the cheese (cheddar and blue) appetizer. Was presented with class and color. Marmalade, balsamic and toast on the side of plate. We both had pork chop that was the juiciest I ever had. Melted in my mouth. The presentation was colorful and the stringbeans had a pleasant snap. Potatoes were perfect. We both split the vanilla soaked berries. Out of this world.
Ambience was a bit off putting. Chairs are plastic and a little uncomfortable. Space us mousey. And lighting is quite uneven, so we had a hard time reading menu Where we were sitting. Wait staff was serving wine in jeans, shorts and T shirts. A little unusual for caliber food and wine being served. But the food is worth the trip.

As always, excellent food and excellent service. Also lovely wine list and interesting cocktails. So sad that it is ending it's 13 year run, as we have enjoyed excellent meals here many times.

We had two great meals. A wonderful swordfish and one of the thickest flounders I've ever eaten. The mussels were delicious too, very plump. The shortbread and fruit drenched in a buttermilk sauce was a fantastic dessert. Solo will be greatly missed when it closes in early September. If you haven't eaten there, make your reservation now!

I reserved two seats in order to listen to the Friday night live jazz music. I asked to be seated as close to the piano as possible because I am taking a jazz class and needed to write a paper on the experience. My boyfriend had a last minute schedule change, so I brought my mother with me for a night out. We had mussels and key lime martinis. Our server was wonderful and took care of us in a timely manner. The atmosphere was great. Laid back, calm. It was a nice night out. I will definitely be recommending others to go here as well as bringing my boyfriend back with me. It would be the perfect spot for a romantic night out.

Great place! This was our first time there, but we will return. The mussels were fabulous and both our entrees (Faroe salmon and ratatouille) were excellent. Tonight was live jazz, which made for a very nice dining experience.

We eat at Solo once or twice a year on our visits to Phippsburg. We have never been disappointed. We had fisherman's stew and a lobster pasta, both excellent -- with an inventive, flavor-filled salad as an appetizer. Great service from lovely waitstaff whom we have seen there year after year. This is a must visit if you are in the area.

Beautiful meal accompanied by beautiful live music. We treat ourselves to Solo a few times a year (since it is a bit pricey). The quality of the meal is reflected in the cost. We have had some of our favorite meals here. Service is always meh. Meals and drinks are always brought in a timely fashion but none of the servers ever look happy and rarely smile. But the food is worth ever cent and the live music never disappoints.

Solo is our "go to" eatery. Be it fresh oysters, seafood stew, crab salad, or the daily specials, Chef Ray Franklin and his team excell. Mary, Cas & the wait staff guarantee a pleasant evening.
Sadly, this 5 Star restaurant will fade from Bath when it closes Labor Day. Owners Pia & Will will be missed!

I have eaten here twice, and although I enjoyed both experiences, I don't feel the menu lives up to the excellent reputation of this restaurant. I would recommend it to friends looking for a certain kind of menu in the area, but I would warn them to ask a lot of questions about the dishes and choose very carefully. I would also warn them to expect that a dish may not live up to its promise or price--hence why the emphasis on asking questions. I'm assuming the cocktails are excellent, b/c my favorite item was the mocktail I ordered, which was really lovely and perfectly balanced. So overall I'd say perfectly nice but not exceptional, so I'd much rather indulge in good local seafood at a more casual spot or hit the local Thai or Mexican or BBQ place, all of which have a great reputation, and enjoy something less fussy and more reasonably priced that will hit the spot when you want something tasty.

Outstanding in every way!
The food and service exceeded expectations, but then they always do every visit. The occasion was a visit from college friends from out of town, and our server did everything she could to make the evening super special, including a wonderful birthday plate dessert at the end. Need to visit more often.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Solo Bistro. The staff is excellent and very knowledgeable of the menu. The menu is short as they build it around what is fresh and local. The Strawberry arugula salad was a nice accompaniment to the local fresh oysters on the half shell with a raspberry vinegar mignonette. The wine and beer list is great. Our meals were both tasty and fresh. I would highly recommend Solo Bistro for a special occasion

This was my 5th or 6th time. I travel to Bath for work once a month and usually stop here on Friday evenings. Wait staff is super friendly and accommodating. Food is delicious, I usually try to order something different each time. I've never been disappointed. Though they have always accommodated me without a reservation, when I was here in May, I asked about coming during season and was advised reservations during the summer are recommended. Very easy to use OpenTable, they called the day before to confirm. Highly recommend this place.

I have been going to Solo for years, because I have friends who play music there on occasional Fridays. The food seldom disappoints, the service is courteous if not overly friendly, and the decor is attractive. As I said, I go there for the music, and I suggest you do, too.
