About Solid Grill & Bar
Housed in the historic 8th St Marketplace, Solid Grill & Bar, focuses on local food and beers. We feature eleven local beers on tap; a selection that changes based on the availability of the best offerings from the local brewers. The food is both classic and daring. The menu is wide enough to please any guest while narrow enough to ensure quality and freshness. Vaulted ceilings, brick arches, natural wood, and warm tones make Solid Grill and Bar the perfect dining getaway. The walls are decked with local art that has a distinctly Boise theme. Solid has two happy hours daily from four to six pm and ten to midnight with half priced drinks and a unique appetizer menu. Every Friday and Saturday Solid stays up extra late serving breakfast from midnight to four in the morning.

Solid Grill & Bar Ratings and Reviews
I normally stick with my go-to gyro (the best in town in my opinion!) but we tried the hummus (great) and the nachos on this visit. Unfortunately the nachos were overcooked, not enough cheese and the cheese on there was brown and crispy, they were overloaded with jalepenos and a little disappointing for the price. This won't deter us from coming back though!
Singer on patio was horrible! Too loud for the location. She tried to overcompensate for her off-key singing by pounding on her electric keyboard. The table conversation was a struggle Server had an attitude too, like she was put out to have to repeatedly return to our table for a new bar order because they were out of the beer my husband was ordering. Took three trips. Food was okay but nothing special.
I never realized Solid was more than a bar and had food. I was even more surprised to find that it was really good food! My husband and I shared the risotto bites (and almost licked the plate clean because they were so delicious), the sweet potato enchiladas (kind of a small portion, which normally is fine, except they were so good we wanted more), the steak salad (also great) and the bread pudding (which was not the best I've ever had but was still a really good bread pudding).
Great father's day dinner! Patio seating in historic Boise, live music not too loud, good food! Only minor complication was that our table and neighbor's did not have silverware. A fact that the server missed so we both were forced to walk inside to ask for some. A minor detail overall. Server was very attentive otherwise.
We were weary after a full day of driving and we just wanted good food and casual atmosphere.
We had friendly and professional wait help, delicious food that was well prepared...we sat inside because there was music outside and we wanted a place where the four of us could converse. It was a little noisy inside, but ok. Wish I were in Boise more often.
We wanted something that allowed us to visit with friends, while having drinks and dinner. Solid came through with a venue that was quiet enough on the inside, while on the patio guests were enjoying live music. The music was not too loud and allowed us a nice background entertainment.
The food was great and the service was exceptional!
Our waitress was knowledgable and recognized that I liked darker beers. She suggested we try three other beers and sold two of them. Unfortunately, we couldn't fill our growler since we didn't have a cap.
Food was decent, huge portions! The risotto was flavored like Spanish rice and would be better as a brown rice or long grain. Fries were delicious!
We had a nice dinner at Solid. Our table was ready when we arrived and our drink orders were filled quickly. The menu is balanced with a bit of a focus on bistro-style. My wife had the herb-grilled chicken with risotto - she loved the chicken but passed on the risotto - just wasn't her style. I had shrimp and grits with roasted onions and peppers - good flavor and portion. Dessert was pumpkin cheesecake (not as creamy as I had hoped) and bread pudding (good but a bit firm) - we shared both. Service was good throughout. Overall, a nice dinner at Solid.
this was an OK experience. Nice presentation on the food. The catfish was OK, advertised as pan fried but I suspect it was deep fried. Half the steak was edible but that half was tasty. The rest fat and gristle. The waitress was very distracted, more interested in running back and forth to a large table than checking in on us. Had to wait till half way through my main dish to get the glass of wine I ordered when the first course arrived. Long wait between courses as well. Good happy hour though. Would recommend with reservations
Went for dinner on valentine's day. The staff was so polite and willing to help each other out clearing tables, bringing out drinks, ect. We shared the artichoke dip, the chicken and waffles entree, and the raspberry cheesecake with a brownie crust... which was amazing. Definitely recommend if you want to relax, eat good reasonably priced food, and enjoy the company of whoever is with you.
Three of the orders were wrong, one had a hair in it. One of the guests sat and waited for food while everyone else finished. When that food was brought out, the order was still wrong. Ketchup was also asked for, and the waitress had it in her apron and never dropped it off. I have ate their before and service and food was great, not sure what happened that day.
We had dinner there on New Year's Eve. We were seated promptly and the food was delicious. We brought in our own champagne and wine and their corkage fees were only $10.00. There were four of us and between us we had the Rib-Eye Steak, Shrimp and Grits and the Chicken Corden Bleu and all were delicious. The clams (for being frozen) were very good as an appetizer.
Would definitely return to this restaurant.
