Sole Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We thoroughly enjoyed our food, especially your Caesar salad.. lol Don't ever change it. It was delicious. I'd come back just for it, as long as i knew it was going to be the very same. The wine prices could be slightly lower, but it is a thing to overcharge for wine in Ontario. Overall a great night...
We all found it pricey and were simply disappointed with the cost and the meals were very bland. We had to use salt And pepper for flavour. Water was not refilled and we were just disappointed overall. Too many other restaurants in area that are better. Waitress was pleasant but appeared to have too many customers.
Reserved a quiet table for a group of 7 for a business meeting. Sole delivered on that request by seating us in a room off of the main restaurant. Location was perfect and the staff were attentive at just the right level. Our guests selected a number of menu items and all were satisfied with their meal. The Duck confrit was excellent. Desert was only for a few members. Most memorable were the crepes.
We celebrated by wife's 50th birthday at Sole. Kelly was our server, ws very knowledgeable and attentive. Our daughter required gluten-free options, and did not disappointment. In fact, the gluten-free Penne Carbonara was the "best food I've ever had." What's not to like about double-smoked bacon!
With vaulted ceilings, the noise level is a little too high for my liking; however, what it lacks in noise level it makes up for with it's historical charm and significance.
The occasion was a "special" Birthday for our daughter. We decided to make it a family event and came from 2+ hours away to celebrate with both our daughters and their partners.
The service was extemporary. We were seated immediately, coats, etc. all looked after. Our waiter, Josh was very good. His timing on when to approach for the various stages of the meal was spot on - he neither rushed us or kept us waiting. That is hard to get right and he did it.
All 6 of us enjoyed everything we ate or drank. One of the party is trained as a chef and even he was happy with the whole experience - trust me that is the first time I have seen that happen.
Our only disappointment is that we live so far away and it will be difficult for us to come back. Keep up the good work!
Excellent meal, very well presented. Wait staff were excellent. Just enough attention without getting in the way of our discussions.
Food was delicious, great selection
Quiet enough to hear ourselves talk without needing to raise voices, as seems so common these days
We were greeted promptly and escorted to our table. We were there for lunch but ordered off the brunch menu as it was on Saturday. The breakfast pizza was delicious and the eggs Bennie were fabulous. The banana bread and mini lemon muffins which were served with blueberry jam were a wonderful change to bread. The interior design is warm and appealing with the exposed wooden beams and original concrete walls. A great dining experience for brunch and we are planning a return visit for dinner!
The atmosphere, although the restaurant was very busy, perfect! The music was in the ‘background’ ...was perfect! Not overpowering, not annoying.
Our waiter was excellent and very professional. My second experience over two weeks.
Soup, 4 out of ten (really hasn’t been good last four visits) so much more potential there and I believe a lack of effort for this appetizer.
Main meal, Octoberfest Roladen needed to be replaced - could not cut through the meat with steak knife, ruined the flow/enjoyment of he meal but was replaced and great on second try.
Reservation worked out well however fathers Birthday notification on reservation was not at all acknowledged.
Always hope the soups will get better.
Great experience usually.
Still one of our favorites!
Was hoping for the best innovative Oktoberfest meal but it did fall short. Really hard brussel sprouts (you do have to boil them not just blanch them!), a tiny portion of veal and flavours that didn't really go together. The flatbread was ok and the dessert was the same, just ok. Shame as I was really looking forward to the whole 3 course menu.
We always have a great meal. The service was a bit slow but the place was packed. The drinks were on par and the dessert was great as always. I love coming and ordering off their seasonal menu. I've never had the same thing twice. Always a treat when we go for a nice meal out.
We were seated immediately and the service was good. The food, unfortunately, was just okay. Our group was 4 people and we all felt the same way about the food. Two people had the duck - were disappointed the skin had been removed and not crispy. It wasn't dry but didn't taste amazing. Another person had the shrimp pasta - it was watery and fairly bland. Another had the Oktoberfest special with the veal - apparently was good. The dessert it came with wasn't anything special, nor was the bacon flatbread appetizer. Overall, the service experience was good but we wouldn't go back because the food wasn't anything special. If the menu was redone, we might consider coming back.
The outdoor patio area is really nice. We had appetizers, mains and desserts and it was all excellent. One person with Gluten allergy in our party had many selections to choose from. The only disappointment was the Rosewood Pino Noir wine. Sole is not cheap but it's worth the price for special occasions.
My beef stroganoff was disappointing, the beef was tough and stringy, noodles hard to eat - hardly what I expected from a quality restaurant. My bill was reduced. My wife's ribs were not what was expected - a cube, not tender - should have been made clear. Fortunately our guests enjoyed their confit. Pleasant efficient server. Overall a disappointment.
