I feel badly for the restaurant because they are now sandwiched between a hotel and another new building going up.
We made a reservation, but there were no other customers when we arrived at 4:30. The atmosphere was rather drab. The restaurant is in need of renovations/updating. The food was very good. I had a special Putanesca salmon dish. Our waitress was very friendly and efficient. I heard a rumor that they are closing soon. I hope this isn't true :-(
Was seated 45 mins after reservation, hostess kept telling us just a few more minutes, essentially keeping us there. Server was unfriendly and not helpful. Pasty/stale bread was brought to the table after we were seated for 20 minutes. Food was not well presented and not well prepared. The worst food I have ever over paid for. Would not recommend this place.
A very nice experience in a restaurant hidden between buildings. Both food and service very good.
This was a quaint place to eat dinner before the symphony. The waiter was very helpful and kept our drinks refilled.

Don't overlook this super quaint, 30 year + old establishment like I almost did! Food is authentic, environment is cozy and service is top notch! I had a simple chicken parmesan plate that was piping hot and tasty. My boyfriend had the lobster ravioli that too was wonderful! You won't be disappointed.

Sole Mio used to be excellent. Went for Valentines Day. Waited over an hour for the bruschetta. Finally around the end of the second hour the steaks that we ordered medium rare came out beyond well done. The owner came out, took both of our plates and returned with ONE steak. When I told him we sent both steaks back because they were bad he basically called me a liar, that I only told him one steak. In my 40 Years, I have never had such a horrific experience at any restaurant.
I have been going to Sole Mio for many years. It is extremely convenient for dinner before the symphony and at one time they had a set pre-concert meal which allowed excellent food and timely exit to the event. At one time, the also had valet parking by which they would keep your car until after the event. Several years ago the family ownership changed and things began going down some, including losing their long time servers. The food, however, continued good and it was convenient as always.
I read in the internet that another ownership change was resulting in Sole Mio closing and I was surprised to find it still open. Upon inquiring of our server, I was told that the new owner, Gino's Pizza, has kept them open until Gino's could obtain the correct occupancy license, but that they would finally be closing at the end of May.
I am very sorry to see such a Nashville staple leave. Not sure of the Gino's menu, but it certainly will not be able to replace Sole Mio.
This was my last visit. Very disappointing. The veggies and potato were good, but the main courses were lackluster. It took 45 minutes to get them in the first place, and it took another 20 minutes to get the replacement for my Inedible entree. The waitstaff (all of them) seemed clueless, approaching several tables with the food they were carrying until someone would claim them as their own. The tables were crowded together to the point where we felt we were intruding on the adjacent table’s conversation simply by sitting at ours. That frustration was compounded by the fact that an entire section of the restaurant was closed off and not in use. I felt like I received fast food service and quality for a whopping $170 (for two people). I feel robbed. It is time for the owner to sell this valuable property so he can pay me back.
I accept that it was Valentine's Day dining, and the only option was a limited set menu of 4 courses. The entrée we both ordered was Rib Eye, and it was certainly not that. The meat was hard to cut, chewy and tasteless. My wife had to send hers back when it arrived cold, only to find the replacement whilst warmer, was the same poor cut of meat. For $65 per person plus 20% gratuity to be added, it turned out to be an expensive dining experience , sadly lacking in quality of food.
Valentine dinner at Sole Mio was perfect the special menu contained several menu options we settled for veal and salmon dishes. Appetizer was a crab cake very good and salad to follow fresh and tasty. Main courses were accompanied by a variety of vegetables bread and olive oil so good. Dessert cannoli and the best tiramisu ever. My white wine was so good. Service was excellent Sole Mio will be missed.
Enjoy this unique authentic Italian food while it is still open! Unfortunately, they are changing hands after 20+ years. The food is hand made and the rotating menu with its daily specials are authentic and expertly prepared. The regular pasta dishes are awesome and can be customized to your liking! Enjoy this while you can!

I would not recommend Sole Mio unless, like us, you wanted to go out to dinner in the downtown area of Nashville and your other options are limited or nonexistent. The food was WAY overpriced for what we got and we just ordered pasta. For the meat entrees, you're far better off going just about anywhere else where you will get food that is at least as good for a much better price.
Started with a Markers Mark Manhattan. Wine with meal. Authentic Italian cuisine. Wild caught pan seared Pacific salmon with Italian topping. Pasta with pesto made in house. Steamed clams. Tiramisu made in house. Coffee fresh brewed. John was our waiter. Enough attention. But not too much. A pleasurable experience. Wanted a nice quiet evening with delicious Italian food. Perfect!

New Years Eve fixed menu for 75 pp. I was okay with price however they ran out of a majority of the food they did not tell you they were substiduting until your meal came. This was waiting for our food for over an hour. Asked to speak to the manager and when she came she a acted annoyed and said she was sorry and walked away. Come to find out her name Terry Zibatito was the general manager as well. DO NOT ENTER awful awful place.
New Years Eve dinner before concert. Only complaint was that they had a special menu for NYE that did not allow us to order from their normal menu. This was not obvious on their website. It was therefore more expensive than we expected ($75 per person flat rate). Luckily, the food was excellent and we found it was worth it.
I’d mention that we weren’t the only ones surprised by the special menu. Each couple that came in and sat at tables near us also were surprised and you could see their reactions when they saw the menu. Like I said, we were ok with it ONLY because the food was very good. My wife can be particular about her meals, and luckily she really enjoyed the menu selection.
Spur of the moment decision to eat close to Schermohorn and pleasantly surprised at how good this place is. Somewhat dwarfed by the high rises near by but well worth the visit.

Great atmosphere, dimly lit, white tablecloths, attentive staff. Authentic Italian food, great calimari with tasty marinara, perfect veal masala you can cut with a fork. Nice wine list and desserts. Service was timely. Made it to the symphony after so her with time to spare.
Get together with friends before the symphony. Great food and service--always the best. Will miss this place when it closes.

Was looking for a nice restaurant in or near downtown Nashville to have a good meal with a friend. The cheese medley on the bruschetta was delicious and we both enjoyed our pasta dishes and desserts. There were two larger parties so we sat in the bar area to have a quieter dinner so we could talk and catch up. Server was very pleasant and helpful.
Horrible, slow service, cold food and a rude manager. Over all would not recommend. Was really hoping for a great experience for a birthday celebration.
Horrible attempt at Italian food. Overpriced for Katschup and Noodles! We waited 1 hour to be told they forgot our order. When it came my wife's steak was still partially frozen.
We went for our anniversary. We had an early reservation so there weren't many people there. Previously we had read they were going out of business in Jan 2018, however our server indicated it would be April/May 2018. Outstanding Italian food! Great customer service!
The salad with the apples and goat cheese over arugula was fabulous. That citrus dressing is delicious. The service was attentive and friendly. The entrees were excellent. We had the lasagna and the veal Marsala.
Unfortunately this is our second poor experience with Sole Mio. The first was with a group of 10 for dinner before the hockey game with a reservation for 530 - all separate checks and arriving at slightly different times, so i assumed there would be some snafu. And there was - we barely made it out of there on time and we did not have appetizers.
This time, we arrived for my husband's bday - party of 6-with 515 reservations. We were the ONLY table in the whole restaurant. Im thinking - this could be bad - but at least we will get out on time! We got our drinks and ordered an appetizer, but we had a hockey game to make at 7pm. I made reservations early knowing the service was slow last time and we had to get out of there. The service was no better and there were 6 tables MAX filled in the whole restaurant. Took forever to get our salads. Then it literally took at least 30 minutes after our salad plates were taken away to finally get our entrées. Lobster ravioli was bland and cold. Chicken Piccata had not one caper. We finally gave them my credit card and asked for them to run our bill quickly so we could get to the game. that took more than 15 minutes to do. On top of that - they had already added 20% gratuity to the bill for a party of 6. Ridiculous. Not worth the time. They have sold to Ginos East out of Chicago so maybe they have lost their luster for their work, but they should just close then. I would not recommend.
There is nothing stunning or even special about the food here as you would expect by the prices. The antipasto platter was kin to something you could pick up from a grocery store deli platter (I'm pretty sure some of the cheese squares were sargento....). The food I don't think was even equal to Italian chain resturaunts like Olive Garden or Carrabas. Don't waste your time. Nashville has much better options than this.
This restaurant was recommended by the hotel concierge and she was right on point. The service was impeccable and the fresh pasta was delicious and prepared perfectly. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a great meal in the downtown Nashville area. It was only a 5 minute walk to our show at the Ryman Theater.
We canceled the res and somehow got charged $104, for what i don’t know. I am very upset!! The restaurant is not responding.
The server was excellent. The appetizers, wine and dessert were excellent. The veal entree was actually not good. Do yourself a favor and order the traditional Italian options.
