Sole Mio Ratings and Reviews
There is nothing stunning or even special about the food here as you would expect by the prices. The antipasto platter was kin to something you could pick up from a grocery store deli platter (I'm pretty sure some of the cheese squares were sargento....). The food I don't think was even equal to Italian chain resturaunts like Olive Garden or Carrabas. Don't waste your time. Nashville has much better options than this.
This restaurant was recommended by the hotel concierge and she was right on point. The service was impeccable and the fresh pasta was delicious and prepared perfectly. I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a great meal in the downtown Nashville area. It was only a 5 minute walk to our show at the Ryman Theater.
We made a reservation for 6:15 but arrived at 6:08. The restaurant had many open seats. We placed our order quickly as we had tickets to the symphony at 7:30.
We got a salad and a tiny thing of bread and talked. And talked. And talked. And noticed that the restaurant had pretty much cleared out at this point. It was 6:50. No food. Our server came by and said it should be out any minute. We have her another 10 minutes. At this point we were anxious to get to the symphony. My husband found our server and asked how much longer and if this was normal service. The server said “your food is in the oven now...” Uhhhhh, no. We had been there 50 min and our food was just finally in the oven? There were only 2 other tables left. I’m guess she forgot to put our order in.
Needless to say, we left hungry and frustrated.
This was the worst dining experience I’ve had. Went to the restaurant with my husband and 8 yr old daughter prior to going to the symphony. Our dinner reservations were at 5:45 pm and we notified the waiter that we had tickets to the symphony at 7:30 so we needed to leave by 7:15 pm. We placed our order shortly after we arrived and also requested the bill which was paid right away. The restaurant wasn’t even full and we sat there for over an hour; our food never arrived. Needless to say, we asked for a refund and left without dinner. I️ will never go back and do not recommend this restaurant.
Food was delicious (maybe some of the best I've had) once we got served. It looked like there maybe was 1 waiter working the dining room. He was great just seemed to be overworked. This is the only negative. Food was awesome and the service was fine once he was able to get to us.
The food was delicious. Authentic Italian food is a must have in every city and their food definitely has the authenticity since the owner is from northern Italy. Its a hidden gym downtown. I recommend the lasagna and create your own pasta. You have to try the bruschetta, it was marvelous! But hurry folks, all good experiences come to an end. They're closing May/2018
Sole Mio had some nice reviews online. We decided to go with a group of six when in town for a conference.
The restaurant was just so loud. It was nearly impossible to carry on a conversation. Our waiter was working hard but it seemed as if they were incredibly short staffed
The food was not good on this night. The pasta was hard and my chicken dish was luke warm.
Looking for a quaint, authentic Italian restaurant with an intimate atmosphere? You can find it here! Sadly, the 23 year old business will be open a few more months. The owner has agreed to sell and close early in 2018. A long standing highlight on the Nashville restaurant will be missed. My wife and I reviewed menus from several options on our recent visit to Music City. The varied selections of Sole Mio attracted our attention. Two of our favorites were prominently featured. The manicotti my wife ordered was excellent. She finished it all. My choice was the cioppino and was full of fish and shellfish. Featuring wild caught salmon and a rich broth that begged to be enjoyed with crusty bread, it was a real treat to be savored. Our server, Tim Roberts, was warm and attentive. Ask for him when you go. He gave us a history of the restaurant, suggested items on the menu and specials for the evening, and found an excellent vermentino to high light our meal. We could not have made a better choice. The portions were ample and prices quite moderate. We would happily return!
Food was delicious and well priced.. server was good but everything was a bit slow. They may have been under staffed. The ambience was nice.. but seemed a little dark for early evening dinner time. But overall it was a good experience and we'd eat there again.
Excellent food but expensive. Paid $11 for a glass of Reisling and it was like 2 oz. but tasty. Free but size parking in the back of restaurant. Heard it's closing in Jan. though. Went on a Thursday evening- reservations for 2, 8:30 pm. Quiet, excellent service. Leftovers the next evening!
Sole Mio has been one of our favorites in the downtown area for several years and we are sorry to see it closing at the end of this year. The appreciative reception, good food and service and the nice atmosphere make dining there very enjoyable. We encourage other diners to take advantage of the opportunity to dine at Sole Mio before Nashville loses this historic, "old Nashvile" Italian gem.
The food was quite good, but way overpriced. I had looked at the menu online and noticed a salad with a salmon fillet on the side. I didn't see it on the dinner menu so asked our waiter about it. He said they could put a piece of salmon on the side of any salad I ordered. I ordered the "Mista" salad, listed at $9, with salmon. The salad was composed of very good greens but was way overdressed, so much so I couldn't finish it. The salmon was cooked to perfection but cost $20, just for a piece of fish! We chose this restaurant because we had a $25 off coupon, but should have done more research about the area before deciding on it. We had to pay $20 for parking across the street to start, then the sticker-shock of the meal itself left us with a very unhappy experience overall, one I surely won't repeat.
Surprizing that there are only good reviews on this restaurant. We had a table of 7, the place was 1/4 full at 7pm Sunday before the eclipse. We were staying at the Omni, but didn't want to be too dressed up that night, and this place looked perfect. WRONG! we were not able to leave until 10:45 !!! We sat there for 15 minutes before anyone even acknowledged our presence... then said he would bring us waters and menus in a min. The one good thing was just plain old fettuccine alfredo that my 20 yr old ordered - the rest that arrived after an hour was absolute garbage - a bowl of pesto with some pasta literally is what this idiot in the kitchen was serving. We sent all four of those back and shared bread and my chicken picatta (it was ok) and my daughters order for another 45 mins until their replacement order came - it was so late by now, we just told them to make it to go so that we could have some fun on broadway. When we opend our to go stuff (all supposed to be fettuccine alfredo) at the hotel LOL - no sauce. Here's the best part - two apps, two bottles of wine, 7 pasta dishes and Oh yea - really poor ceasar salads to boot = $725 !!! GO TO JEFF RUBYS - Its better, faster and less expensive and REALLY GOOD! Oh and the chef nor manager ever came to our table after 5 dinners were returned. We didn't ask for or receive a credit on anything, but will never be back and hope to save others from this horrible experience.
Outstanding fresh authentic Italian food with rotating menu and specialties. Every dish is fantastic. The gnocchi tartufu and filet special were heavenly. You cant go wrong with any dish here. So sad that they are shutting down after all of these years...........
We had a delicious meal and dessert.
You could easily carry on a conversation without having to raise your voice.
It had been awhile since we had dined here and, after our dining experience, we wondered why? We won't wait so long before making reservations again.
Perfect place to dine before an event at Schermerhorn, which is just a short walk away.
Thank you for a lovely evening.
The food was very expensive and not very good. The ravioli seemed undercooked, and basically all you tasted was the large amount of salt. For a $20 dish, I expected it to be much better. I wouldn't pay $10 for what I had that night. Maybe it was just an off night, but we probably won't be back.
This was a disappointment. We had been one other time and it was fine but decided to give it one more try. When we walked up to the restaurant, the hostess was smoking a cigarette on the side of the building and yelled down to us as we opened the door if we had a reservation. We were sat after a few minutes in the lobby and waited another 15 minutes before our server came to the table to greet us. We gave our full order because we had so much time to decide. We ordered the caprese as an appetizer and he asked if we were splitting it, we said yes because its an appetizer and thats typically what you do with them... well they literally split the order and brought it out on two plates. He didn't tell you for that unnecessary service, they are going to charge a $1 uncharge. Not that this is a big deal but think of all the additional $1 add ons this place makes. Our meal was fine... scallops were far from exceptional for he $29 price. They were over cooked and rubbery on the outer rim. The chicken parmesan was just ok - nothing to rave about. We then wanted to leave to get to Bridgestone Arena for a concert and our server was no where to be found. Throughout the dinner, he would disappear for about 10 minutes at a time and then rush to all the tables at once. We had a coupon from the Entertainment Book for a free entree up to $25. Before I say the outcome, I will say that we ALWAYS tip at least 20% even when the service isn't exceptional because things happen in the restaurant industry. He took the coupon and then proceeded to add a 20% gratuity to the bill. No where did I see this was mandatory but we didn't have time to discuss it. I firmly believe he felt his service was poor and this was his way of making sure an adequate tip was given. Needless to say, don't waste your money because you will more than likely be disappointed and Nashville has some amazing restaurants but this is not one of them.
