Sole Mio Ristorante Ratings and Reviews
We went to this restaurant because we were going to be in the area and read some good reviews. We arrived a few minutes earlier than our reservation and was able to get in right away. The place reminded me of a diner. Bright lights and employees rushing by looking like they were busy. The place was busy, but not overly and the hostess said that people were leaving sooner than they expected. When we sat down, we were greeted by our server who was nice enough, but not overly- didn't really smile much. She asked if we would like something to drink and did recommend a wine by the glass which turned out to be ok - good table wine. We passed on the bread and an appetizer and just ordered salads with our dinner. Our dinner came pretty quickly and before our salads came. We made a comment to each other that we didn't get our salads before our dinner came and that we were not going to want them. The server then came over with our salads and we were already eating our dinner. We said that they should have come before the dinner and that we were no longer going to eat them. She stood at our table holding the salads like she didn't know what to do, then asked us if we wanted them boxed up to bring home. I asked her if my salad was already dressed and she said yes. I said that it would be soggy if I brought it home and told her I didn't want it. She looked again like she didn't know what to do and just stood there, but then asked my husband if he wanted his boxed up. We felt bad and just said yes, I guess you can box it up. We shouldn't have because in the end we paid for a salad that we didn't eat later.
Would not go back and would not recommend.
I love locally owned restaurants. This restaurant is clean, not too noisy. The food is outstanding pluse the wait staff are friendly an efficient. The owner/chef is often out on the floor talking to customers. During the summer, there is a cute little patio available also.
So glad I discovered this hidden gem! I went here with my daughter and a friend. They were generous in their wine tastings so each of us could find the right one. Server Herman was very friendly and accommodating. Food was delicious! We will definitely be returning.
My wife and I are regulars at Sole Mio, and we frequently bring out-of-town guests, as we did this past weekend. The food is of high quality and authentic Italian (after all, Mr. and Mrs. Montes, the owners, are authentic Italians). The prices are good, the service prompt, and the restaurant and bar are neat, clean and attractive. The added bonus is that Chef Angelo Montes roams throughout the restaurant to check on the diners to make sure that everyone is happy with their meals. That's a nice touch. I highly recommend Sole Mio! As they say in Italy, si mangia bene qui!
The food was mediocre and over priced. I was expecting good or at least decent Italian, but was disappointed. There wasn't anything special or tasty about it. The restaurant was decorated okay. Every staff person was friendly. Our server was very accommodating. I wouldn't go back or recommend it. I hate writing these kinds of reviews, but if we don't write a truthful one or worse yet don't write one at all, the ratings are meaningless.
Five stars! The customer service alone is a reason to visit. Best we've seen in a long, long time. We happened upon this place via Open Table reviews, and are glad we tried it out. The owner herself greeted us, introduced herself and aske us our names. The staff was also extremely professional, unbelievably positive, and you could really tell it's a very happy place to work (and dine.)
The food was great as well. I'm a sucker for sausage with fennel, and had the sausage pizza, which was very good. My husband had a fettuccini with shrimp and said he'd definitely order it again.
They were breaking down the brunch line when we arrived, and it looked like something we will definitely want to try soon.
Went there for the first time for my Mother's birthday. Nice greeting and seating, Benjamin our server was attentive, fun, and overall excellent. Chef came out in full bravado and was entertaining and helpful. When Benjamin came to offer dessert, we were all full, but I mentioned that it was my Mother's birthday and he offered her a birthday dessert. She was full, and we left it up to him to pick and he presented a tiramisu to go which she said was excellent.
For a non chain experience, I would highly recommend this restaurant. The chef/owner works hard and it shows.
Our dinner was wonderful! I had the Special that evening - Salmon which cooked perfectly. The other diner enjoyed crab ravioli and was very impressed. We both enjoyed of salad. I recommend the Pear Salad to anyone, delicious and a nice change from "just greens". We also shared the Lemon Panicotta which was light and delicious. Our server that evening was Molly who took very good care of us with her great smile, attention to detail and knowledge about the menu and wine. Sole Mio is one of my favorite places to go to. I have taken friends there before and they are always amazed and surprised about the location and great food value. Very comfortable and the owner is very friendly and often comes to your table to welcome you and ask about your meal. Very nice place to go any time.
My husband and I went their for our anniversary. I put in the notes that it was our anniversary when scheduling through open table plus that my husband is allergic to tree-nuts...I don't think they paid attention because they never wished us or mentioned anything about our anniversary. Not the biggest deal in the world though. The waiter must have been new as he was not very personable. The worst was that the food wasn't very good. I got the seafood capenoli--the shrimp were baby shrimp salad size and the scallops were too....the sauce did not have much flavor and you got two rolled up noodles. At $19.00 I would expect to better and bigger pieces of seafood in it. My husband got the lemon chicken and he thought it was just okay as well. Overall, while we really wanted to like the place, it just wasn't good and the ambiance is in a little strip mall so that's not great either. I honestly would have rather went to olive garden...
I truly enjoyed the overall experience, and already I have recommended the restaurant to family, friends, and business associates. They have already visited it to see and feel what I felt, me and my party. We wanted a new dining experience and went on line and found your restaurant. It was truly a gem, good food, at a very reasonable price, the atmosphere is conducive for many different occasions, groups of varying sizes. We will be back again and again.
Picked several bones out of Walleye dish and for the price it didn't even come with grain. I had to order extra pasta as a side. Veal entree had big piece of gristle that should have been trimmed and side was a small portion of mashed potato which was luke warm. We were disappointed.
The food and service are great. They have an extensive gluten free menu including several pasta dishes. Everything is cooked to order so they can accommodate special requests. It's one of the few places to eat where gluten-free diners do not have to feel deprived while everyone else eats delicious food.
We always like the food (my chicken limone with artichokes was great), and the wine list is decent. But I gave it mediocre marks for ambience because it's in a small, otherwise uncharming mall. If it were a stand-alone restaurant in the same area the approach and entrance would be more appealing. The service is very good, although our waiter was no help in choosing wine.
Servers are always well-trained & friendly (but professional). Soups are excellent. Entrees are consistently good. Would be nice if a small salad or colorful vegetable came with the entrees; those with just mashed potatoes, meat, & sauce are a little drab (but still taste good).
From walking in the door to the dessert course, we felt like we were being treated with special care. The veal was superb and the hot bread really hit the spot. Also, as Senior Citizens we were very appreciative that the kids were seated in a different part of the restaurant. Our compliments to the Chef in regards to the veal presentation, and our thanks to Maggie our waitress for her competence and eagerness to keep us happy with the whole matter.
