Would appreciate how we got listed as "no show".I stated i had a reservation and assumed that should suffice.Had a nice Brunch and great service. Also used a credit card which helped to confirm my situation.
Food was amazing!!! Loved everything about it! Excellent service, excellent food, beautiful location!!!
We came there for my wife birthday. We ordered 2 courses dinner. The food is just okay but over priced for the food we ordered. I had better food at fine dining restaurant. Since we were full, we couldn't ordered the dessert. Since it's my wife birthday, the restaurant didn't give any complimentary desserts. They could have give an ice cream scoop with candle for birthday celebration. I was disappointed.
A very creative restaurant with excellent execution and flavors of dishes. We will definitely go back when in the area.
We loved our dinner. Excellent food and wine. We'll be back!
A review from a couple who love to cook, have young kids so we rarely get out, and demand food that is not that which we would make at home:
Had lunch here and it was phenomenal. Our hostess was warm and engaging, geniunely helpful and made us feel welcome and comfortable. Extremely helpful and honest with menu recommendations.
The fish tacos are amazing, as was the tuna burger. Shrimp wraps were unique. Overall offers unique blends and demonstrates a confident, well-versed kitchen willing to take risk to divine effect. Highly recommend!
Food and service was excellent, highly recommend this restaurant
Visited during January. Enjoyed the warm, inviting glow from the elongated gas fire places (inside and out). Estensive wine list and knowledgable sommelier. Received impeccable service. Ordered the mushroom soup and the duck breast. Loved both!
We went on a week night while visiting Calistoga last week. The hostess was rather grim and sat us at a cramped table for two right by the service door next to a large family. The restaurant was almost empty although there were a lot of folks at the bar who were very very loud and lively. We asked to be moved to another table and were told the only table we could be offered was by the window, which was okay except for a vent which blasted out freezing air from outside. Meanwhile, many tables remained empty and continued to be empty until we left. The service was kind of stiff and formal, although the decor is not any nicer than a cafe. Service and food much better in the little town of Calistoga.
Everything is special at Solbar, starting with the amazing setting. Inside or out, the atmosphere is heavenly. The food is always incredible, and beautifully presented in generous portions.Due to my dietary restrictions, I had the seared ahi burger with edamame and tofu salad, probably the lowest cholesterol item and the only "health-foody" thing on the menu.It was spectacular. My bro loved his Cubano sandwich and our Mom loved her crispy chicken sandwich, both of which looked delicious as I jealously observed. For dessert, we had pear and pineapple sorbet, one scoop of each. Both are tasty, but we love the pineapple best of the many flavors we've tried there over time. The wine list is varied and the house cabernet sauvignon is quite good.
Dining with the Stars? Maybe. Celebrities supposedly frequent this restaurant. But the reason to come is for the great food and service. From appetizers to entrees, the food was wonderful. Our waitperson was just the right balance of providing service and avoiding being intrusive. It was a great experience. For those who do not want to spend much for dinner, however, this is not the place for you. This is a top-notch restaurant with top notch prices.
Very unfriendly and unwelcoming hostess. We were seated at a table right next to the entrance, and every time anyone entered or exited the restaurant, a gelid draft would come our way. The hostess repeatedly refused our request to be moved to another table, even though many were available. This definitely ruined our evening.
Met some out of town relatives there for lunch and it was a great choice - something for everyone - really interesting menu - great food and atmospere.
Beautiful setting, large regal room with beautiful bar. Brunch was excellent with fresh squeezed juices and french press coffee. Menu had interesting and unique breakfast options.
Bartender was the best. and table sevice was excellent. Food and presentation was awesome!
Had breakfast and appetizers on 3 different occasions over the past 2 days. Service was excellent. Food was excellent. I just felt the breakfasts were priced a bit too high.
I live close and have visited multiple times. Last Sunday was the first I've tried their Brunch. I was very disappointed with the food. My husbands biscuits were dry. A friend of ours and myself had the Sole fish tacos and also found them dry and not flavorful. The only saving grace was asking the server for salsa for the tacos and drowning them in it. Personally I would have preferred to be able tho taste the fish instead of salsa. I was also disappointed in thier brunch selection. They have some creative breakfast items that I was expecting to be able to order but the cut off was 11am. Too bad they don't offer a better brunch menu. Next time we go we' ll have to plan on making it earlier for breakfast. Brunch was not worth the price!
Solage is the best restaurant in the Napa Valley. My wife and I live in Calistoga and feel so fortunate to have this unpretentious gem right in our backyard. The chef (Brandon Sharp) fuses flavors and seasonal cuisine together better than anyone I have ever known. We are always treated wonderfully and the food is always exciting and tantalizingly good leaving us in suspense for our next visit. The Open Table service has never let me down when makinga a reservation.
We ate here while visiting Calistoga for a getaway birthday weekend and are coming back again this year primarily to have another great meal at Solbar! Fantastic food and service, and great ambiance. Wonderful special occasional dining.
We had an amazing experience. We took the recommendations of our server and were not disappointed. The bay squid first course was an explosion of flavor, the Sausalito watercress and lemon aioli gave it a refreshing close on each bite. My husband had the flat iron steak and I had the free range chicken. Portions were decent, I can't wait to eat my left overs. We were so please with the first and main courses I saved room for dessert. (Which we never do). I'm not a 'chocolate person' but again took our servers recommendation and tried the chocolate bread pudding with home made dulce de leche ice cream and salted hazelnuts. Devine! I appreciated that each server gave a complete description of the meal as they placed it on the table.
Dining for breakfast or lunch is preferred. The night menu is too devoted to presentation. The beet salad was a joke & we should have returned it. It looked pretty, but that was it. The bar menu was much better. The lighting at night is too dark. When you need a flashlight to read the menu - & can barely discern the food - there is a problem. The hostess was condescending.
Food was OK. Service was very good, but seemed forced. Went there New Years Day and called twice in advance to make sure they were having their regular menu, rather than a pre-fixed. When we got there, it was pre-fixed with a very limited selection and no modifications. While it's a beautiful area, the room was cold feeling.
Very attentive staff. Food was excellent.
SolBar is definitely a quality dining experience - at a price.
I've had brunch twice. The lemon pancakes were so light and lovely both times. The French toast was perfectly crisp. Eggs baked in cast iron - DELISH but very rich. Not to be missed are the doughnuts, made to order.
Unless you must have one, skip the smoothies. WAY overpriced for what you get.
For a special occasion, I would go back. Plus, you can charge your car while you eat!
We have had two fantastic meals at Solage over the last 6 months. Everything tastes absolutely perfect & the service is spot-on. On our last trip, just before New Years, our server was great & even informed us of a "secret" dessert not on the menu (that night, beignet donut holes fried to order) and OMG it was so good. Although Solage is a bit of a trek for us versus staying in Napa or going to Yountville, it is totally worth the drive when we want a good, special meal.
We also really enjoy the wine flights. A great way to try a few different wines without drinking too much.
Wonderful lunch - the shrimp lettuce wraps delicious and the steak salad delightfully tasty.
This was our 4th or 5th meal at Sol Bar and it seems to get better with each visit. The service is fantastic. I highly recommend the hot and cold crab appetizer, as well as the warm spinach salad. The mushroom soup was also delicious. The combination of tastes with each dish is always amazing and always beautifully displayed.
Amazing food, great service at a fantastic resort style resturant!
Wonderful experience for breakfast Christmas morning!
Food, service, and ambiance were all wonderful. However, the highlight was when the waiter brought to my table a small reading lamp that he set beside the newspaper I was reading while enjoying my dinner so that I wouldn't have to continue to hold my cellphone, while using the reading lamp I have on my phone to read. Talk about service!
What a simply wonderful place -- great food coupled with great service. Portions were generous and the dishes were extremely creative. Every member of the staff was excellent. Room is simple but attractive -- might be nicer if there were not a large flat screen TV over the bar, but we were seated so it wasn't a distraction -- others might not be so lucky.
If I lived in Calistoga I would probably go to Solbar fairly regularly BUT I live in Napa and I would NOT drive to Solbar for food. The food we had was nice, not stellar - the chicken noodle soup was by far the best. The sliders were sad. The worst thing was the "host" - we arrived 11:40 and seating starts at 11:45 - OK we were 5 minutes early. The staff was standing against the wall talking to each other and they made us go sit in the lounge for the short 5 minutes. They did the same with everyone that came in after us. Then at precisely 11:45 they came to us and seated us a table. Seesh - what a stupid, trivial response to a dopey house rule.Get a grip management!
This place was well worth the drive from Napa, despite the rain and cold. The beautiful open layout of the interior was warm and inviting, thanks also the beautiful fireplace. The menu was really great, and offerred many options. We started off with a beet salad which is one of the best we've had. Our three-egg omelette and chicken-and-waffles were so good we tried very hard not to leave anything on our plates. Our waitress was the sweetest server ever, and when she found that we were planning to drive the Sonoma Coast, she provided us with directions and recommendations. She even roped in the hotel concierge who printed maps of the directions for us. We will definitely be back, even if only to stop for their wonderful desserts!
Food is delicious with an ordinal twist. Wine list is too expensive, especially by the glass
A perennial favorite of ours in the Napa Valley, we always try to lunch at Solbar if the weather permits outdoor seating (they are pet-friendly in the outdoor dining area). Love their chef's creative menu, and really appreciate that, as a spa restaurant, there are choices both hearty and healthy. We also enjoy their uniquely-flavored cocktail options; one can become quite wine-soaked on an extended stay in the region! I cannot over-recommend their fish tacos, which I almost always order (didn't this trip and am still craving them); salads and soups are superb as well, and anything spicy should delight. And oh, the Solfries! Superb service, accommodating and helpful waitstaff. A feeling of casual elegance extended to outoor dining.
We had lunch here. Fantastic. Will come back.
Disappointed in the unfriendly hostess/lack of description of food. With all of the incredible options in Napa Valley, I won't make time to go back.
Always love Solbar and have been there many times. Great local food and fun food combinations.
One of the best dining experiences I've ever had!!
We stayed at the Golden Haven Spa and Resort, and intended to do brunch at Sol-bar. When we got to Solage Calistoga, I wished that we'd stayed there instead! I loved the atmosphere, the scenery, the grounds, everything! Then e went inside Sol-bar for lunch and the food was great... And the service was impeccable. The wait staff knew when to come to the table and when to leave us alone as we talked... This is the place to go of you want a romantic brunch after a night of wine tasting and love-making...
