Latitude and Longitude Ratings and Reviews
Solaris offers either a buffet or you can order off the menu. One person in the party had the buffet, and said the options were great, and everything was tasty. The buffet included a dessert buffet with a number of options in small portions which allows diners to try several without feeling too guilty! :-)
Another diner had the burger, which was described as juicy, and flavorful. I had the spinach salad, which was also very tasty.
Really don't think you can go wrong with anything at Solaris, and it's a great spot to hit between meetings, if you're there for a conference like we were, or between fun activities, if you're there on vacation. :-)
The price of the food, breakfast and lunch, was over the top! The breakfast buffet was $24. per person and the menu foods were also very overpriced. Three people for breakfast, two at buffet and one even eating less, came to $98. with tip. I don't know how they stay in business other than the fact that it's the only full service restaurant in the hotel for breakfast and Lunch. I have been here 3 years in a row for a trade show and so very glad that we won't be back to do it here again. Going someplace else, much less costly!!! The big problem is that without a vehicle the guests have no choice of dining for less. You're just "stuck" here with the huge charges!
The price was right, offering a great value for an Easter brunch. The highlights were the made-to-order omelets, lots of nice fresh fruit and delicious croissants, muffins and biscuits. The salad table could use improvement. Consider adding chicken and pork dishes. Desserts looked beautiful but were lacking in taste. Service was very good.
It's an ok breakfast buffet. If you are staying there, it serves the purpose. Otherwise, the food was ok and the service was off that day. They cleared our table and reset for new guests while we were getting more food. I guess that's good service but they literally took everything off the table including freshly poured coffee.
Thanksgiving buffet was excellent. The waitress was super as well as the friendliness and helpfulness of all staff. Only complaint was, we had reservations for 13 and they seemed to not be prepared for our group and pulled together small tables to fit all of us which was a little disappointing since reservations were made well in advance.
The buffet is not world class as advertised. Basic fruit, congealed gravy and greasy pulled pork casserole 45 min after 0600 opening. Where were pancakes and waffles? Why did I have to wait for special order scrambled eggs? That's a standard option on buffets. I asked about pastries and was directed to bread, bagels (1 kind), muffins (1 kind), and spice cake. It goes on--I really can't say enough about the poor buffet offerings and presentation. And for $27?! You need to go see how other hotels do a buffet--for half the cost and a multitude of more options.
I am so pleased I happened upon this place; they made our Christmas a special treat! Absolutely delicious and plentiful buffet; I can't remember ever being so pleased with the freshness and quality of a buffet before. Staff was top notch and so friendly...they had an air of being happy to be spending their Christmas there! Anyway, the Soraris was delightful and we would recommend and return
My family and I were staying at the World Marriott for overnight stay for Thanksgiving. This was my husband first black Friday off, so we decided to not to cook and go to a place that had a nice buffet and crash afterwards, and yes we did. The Buffet was wonderful, the mushroom risotto was to die for. The deserts, we tried to taste everyone, but it was impossible. The crab soup, I had 3 bowls, it really hit the spot and the Mascarpone mash potatoes, our son had 2 big heaping. We should had desert first. :)
I will be coming back.
As far as hotel food goes, this place isn't a bad option and best of all, it is priced right (another surprise for a hotel's in-house operation). Vegetarians may have to hunt hard through the buffet offerings (especially at lunch or dinner), but the staff is very helpful and I even got a pasta plate made especially for me (when I requested no meat or fish).
We went here for the Christmas dinner buffet. We booked here because it was one of the few places we could get a reservation at the last minute. Hotel food is notoriously overpriced and usually mediocre. We were pleasantly surprised. Everything was fresh. The prime rib was about the best we've ever had. The Turkey was moist. The sides and desserts were good. If we're in the Orlando area again for a holiday, we would definintely come back.
