Solace & The Moonlight Lounge Ratings and Reviews
Mmmm Sunday brunch! It was delicious. My friend and I started with the cinnamon roll with pecan butter sauce and it was amazing. So was the carafe of mimosa and entrees. Service started out strong but kind of fizzed out as our lunch progressed. Our water glasses were not refilled and such. But overall a great brunch and I would go back again.
My wife and I decided to celebrate our Valentine's day this past Saturday and we wanted to enjoy a wonderful lunch outside. Solace had exactly what we were looking for. I had asked for a bottle of champagne to surprise my wife and our server Lauren had the bottle ready as soon as we sat down. He went over some of the Solace's best tasting apps and we decided on the oysters to start the meal. DELICIOUS! We took our time ordering and Lauren came out and spoke to us about the owner. Off his recommendation we read the story and we knew this was our kind of resturant. You will have to go read it yourselves, sorry. So about half way through the champagne we decided to get a craft cocktail. After reading the story we left it up to Lauren and said you pick dealers choice. Our late lunch was great and I love my wife. Solace provided the both of us a relaxing fun filled environment in which we love. I am looking forward to going back to try out their dinner menu. Thank you Solace!

Wow. When we first looked at this place from outside, we were a bit apprehensive to go in. It looked like all the other bars that offer food. Wow were we surprised. Awesome choices so unique and non-mainstream. From the booze, to the great cheese plates, to the pasta with lamb. Everything was a joy. The service was great, friendly, and the place became an instant must go back!
Wonderful food - great Gluten Free options for someone who is celiac! We come here once a month to splurge on food and have a tasty dinner out! They've got all kinds of ambiance - perfect for cozy dinners or a more quiet feel downstairs and a more upbeat energetic vibe upstairs with a gorgeous view from the patio! Friendly staff, scrumptious food, and absolutely delicious beverages (wines, beers, ciders, even handcrafted cocktails)! Will always continue to come here! ---Forever fans!
Got together with friends for lunch at Solace. Nice and empty when i arrived!!! Quiet! Good food. My friends tomato soup arrived not hot. inexplicable. anyway, it was sent back. Took a really long time for it to return. also inexplicable. Anyway, the rest of our food was good.
This restaurant is one of my go-to eateries in the area. I've only been here for dinner and it never disappoints. Make sure to get the artichoke dip served with the fresh baguette, so good! Great drinks, a simple menu filled with great food, & amazing service.
I love Solace and going there for HH specials. My recent dining experience was different and at no fault of our server. There was a group that had a service animal which I fully suppprt;however they did not have control of the animal so not a service dog but an emotional support animal. The dog was wandering around the restaurant during our meal (not under voice or handle with leash control) which was also indicative of not being a service animal. I would encourage training for your staff about what they can ask legally and how to handle those situations as they are becoming more common. Everyone has the right to enjoy their meal as well as feel comfortable and safe.
Sadly, the free food was to compensate for extremely poor service. We were at Solace at 7:30 on a Friday night. It was full, but Open Table had reservations available every 15 minutes. Started well with a cocktail order, first course was a little slow, and then everything stopped. If you have the patience of a Biblical character and truly enjoy celebrating the Holiday season by having tables arriving after you receive their first course and entre before you, Solace is the place for you. Without asking, they comped the first course and entre. My guess is this is not new to them.
We enjoy Solace for the interesting menu which is prepared well. Service is a different issue. Usually if a restaurant recognizes a problem and attempts to make it right we are forgiving. However, it happens all too often at Solace. Time to find a new Friday night burger and beer place.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed a rare night out at Solace on Saturday. We enjoyed the aesthetics of the restaurant as well as the menu. We started with an amazing 3 cheese plate-was very tasty and considerable for two people. We additionally shared mussels, beef tartare and the warm spinach salad. All three (shared) entrees were good, well proportioned and attractive. Of the three, I enjoyed the salad and the mussels most.
The only complaint I have is the bathroom circumstance -since we were eating downstairs I had to wait 10+ minutes to go to the unisex bathroom which wasn't very clean (and was used by a worker for the 10 minutes I was waiting during my dinner).
The restaurant was quiet for conversation; the lounge was a bit more lively. Our dinner (salmon appetizer/sea bass entree) was exquisitely prepared and beautifully presented. The portions were a bit small and no sides included. Only two bathrooms available resulted in a small wait.
I love the food and the ambiance the most!! Our waiter was fantastic, very happy and friendly and very attentive. The food is creative and tasty I wanted to lick my plate! We love to bring friends and visitors here for a good down town Encinitas experience.
Lovely evening upstairs at the Moonlight lounge. Unique decor added to the ambiance. Katy was a wonderful and attentive server, but wasn’t hovering. Wine was great, the Slow Braised Lamb Pasta was so much more tasty than I had imagined, and my husband ordered the roasted beet salad and a cup of the tomato bisque soup. We had the Gluten free Graham Cracker crust chocolate tart for dessert. Super fantastic finish to our meal. We would both go back again tomorrow if we were still in town. LOVELY evening overall.
Delicious food, fantastic drinks, great service, and the chance at a view. It was pretty quiet for a Thursday night, but it was early. We sat inside because it was a little chilly, but a light jacket would have made it worth it to sit outside. We started with six oysters, and each had the pork chop with smoked kale. I was a little surprised we weren't asked how we wanted them cooked, but it was delicious, anyway. We'll definitely return.
The food is superb as is the wait staff. Great focus on fresh food prepared with the flair of a true gourmet! We really enjoyed the chicken salad sandwich, salad and soup seen in the photo. Every once in a while the Coaster or Surfline train rolls through when one must pause in mid sentence prividjng another unique twist to a wonderful dining destination. 🌞🤙🌈🇺🇸
Absolutely delicious! Would have 5 stars if I had a more attentive waitress. The food was absolutely sensational - and I'm beyond picky when it comes to food. I had the brunch veggie hash with perfectly cooked poached eggs, perfectly spiced veggies (cooked al dente with all their natural goodness shining through the chipotle hollandaise sauce) - oh man! I'm already dreaming about ordering that dish again!
The shrimp and grits app was good but the burger and porkchop were ok. 1 app, two meals, 2 beers and 2 glasses of lower end wine totaled $117.00. I just did not feel that the experience was worth $117. $9 craft beers are a bit high compared to other establishments especially as they serve the beer in a 10 to 12 oz glass. Wine seemed to be a better value. The wait staff and kitchen could not decide which fish they were serving and we ordered dessert but it was not turned into the kitchen. Overall, the appetizer was outstanding but the rest was not worth the visit!
The service was a bit strange-the guy seemed slightly confused when we asked questions. He also checked up on us too often-no one likes a helicopter server! The food was amazing though! I had the veggie hash and it was phenomenal! The Solace Mary, however, was bland and uninspired.
