Soi4 Bangkok Eatery
…inspired, influenced, accented, and tinged; anything but ‘fusion’. We prefer to think of it as "Bangkok style” eatery.
While in Rockridge for 3 weeks we ate at Soi4 at least 6 times. We tried many of the offerings and loved them all. The Pad Thai is delicious! This is the best Thai food we have ever had, and we will be back the next time we are on the mainland! You cannot go wrong. The service was friendly and welcoming. It is our favorite place in Rockridge.
The food is great, which is why I return regularly. The service can be off sometimes but it's worth coming back for the food even if there is an off night on service. Great neighborhood place, nice happy hour treats and cocktails.
been going here since it opened. always good, lots to try.
Very pretty place. The service is excellent, very friendly and welcoming. The food is very good, the menu is imaginative. Looking forward to going back to try some more things.
We had a lovely 62nd anniversary meal for my in-laws. We requested a quieter table so we could talk. The table was perfect - we could hear each other speaking - my in-laws loved the food and look forward to coming back again.
We got there on the early side when it was fairly slow, but once things got busier it was a bit harder to get the waitresses attention. Overall we had an excellent experience and highly recommend Soi 4!
Usuallly one of my favorite restaurants but last visit food was not as good, portions smaller.
Love the food! Our server was very knowledgeable and had us try some new things. The short ribs in curry sauce was amazing!
Food is good. Seems like they use good ingredients. Service is attentive. Would recommend.
Food was great but host completely ignored our saying we had a reservation and told Open Table that we didn't show up.
Occasionally they have new staff and that is frustrating explaining things to them
This restaurant is my favorite. Every year on my birthday I travel to Oakland just to experience the food! They did not disappoint again this year. We order a little bit of everything but the service is always great and our table always ready. No complaints here.
Best restaurant in the Rockridge! Have been going there for years. Always consistently good food,
lovely service people, and a great experience. Have also been to several private parties upstairs that have been very nice.
Favorite dishes are the turnip cakes, pad thai, grilled rack of lamb, veggies in yellow curry, etc. Everything is really wonderful.
Good happy hour too!
absolutely lovely local eatery. Wish the noise wasn't so loud--that's the only not-perfect aspect. All else is healthy and perfect.
Excellent service, taste and presentation. Happy hour is worth checking out too.
Awesome service with friendly staff that cares about their food. Defiantly recommend.
Fabulous has been maintained over all these years. Great cocktails too
The mustard leaf appetizer is always amazing.
The shrimp dish with tamarind was tasty and had a nice texture. The skirt steak was less interesting than Soi 4's dishes usually are. Unique flavor is what I expect from this great restaurant.
We had a fabulous meal at Soi4 with a group of 7 friends. The staff were terrific and very accommodating to our needs. The food couldn't have been better, the service could not have been more attentive. It was just right -- from start to finish. Everyone enjoyed their meal and some of us even got some leftovers to take home! Yum.
I've been to Soi4 many times...almost always we order exclusively from the small plates and we've never been disappointed. 2 nights ago we went w my brother-in-law who has celiac disease, and keeping our menu gluten-free was no problem for the wait staff. 5 stars all around, and it's only 1/3 mile from my house!
We went to Soi 4 Bangkok with a group of ten people to celebrate my birthday and had a great time! I highly recommend the ginger martini to start things off right. 4 of us lived in Bankgok back in the 1990's so we are pretty picky. We found all the food (which we ate a ton of and had too many dishes to count) were all very good and as close to the real deal as you expect to get in the US. I would definitely go back and highly recommend Soi 4 Bangkok!
a little slow out of the blocks at the opening bell, otherwise ok.
Yes, I have recommended friends dine at Soi4! The food has been consistently good for years and the staff are delightful. This is a real neighborhood gem.
We come here a few times a year. The drinks were delicious, the appetizers were really good as were the main courses. We thought it was an exceptional dinner that night
Great meal, wonderful service
A nice time, we sat by the window and the waitress got to us pretty quickly and gave us great descriptions of items I wouldn’t have normally gone for. Took all her suggestions and was not disappointed at all! Drinks were not bad either.
We have been eating here for years and always enjoy a delicious meal with great service.
All of the dishes were delicious. It was a bit noisy annd cramped, but I would not hesitate to return.
My only complaint with this restaurant was that our server was slow to begin waiting on us. Once she greeted us she was very good and let me try a small pouring of a wine I was unsure about. The food was delicious and came out in a timely manner. I would go here again for sure!
The pear highball was delicious. Always enjoy the corn cake appetizer too. The entrees are delicious. I make it a point to get there in time for happy hour and enjoy dinner as well.
I love the Choo Chee Salmon, but last night I tried the beef and snow pea special. It was scrumptious! I keep going back - for the food, the service and the quiet friendly atmosphere.
Soi Four is our neighborhood Thai restaurant. The food is invariably fresh and deliciously flavored. Service is always good.
Very disappointing. I had eaten here once before and had liked it, but not this time. Appetizers and salad were ok, sea bass was horribly over cooked, dessert (some sort of pumpkin custard) was weird., drinks were weak.
Our server seemed completely clueless, an experience I’ve never had at Soi 4 before. She didn’t register our reservation and so I got texted by you that you thought I had arrived. She took forever to take our order and forever to serve the food, forgot about one order altogether for a while I guess. And then she waited endlessly to bring our check. Usually service there is quite prompt but this was unbelievable I think we were there for three hours which was fine because I was enjoying the company but much of the time I was sitting there hungry without anything in front of me. This is one of my go to restaurants, I always enjoy it, this was just a strangely unusual and bad experience.
Food was good but service was very slow.
Salmon was excellent! Recommend the grapefruit salad!
Excellent Thai food! We had the pad Thai, green curry & starters. All excellent!
They're not vegetarian friendly. All their vegetable dish is made with premade sauce that includes fish sauce. Portion size is also inconsistent.
Came here for Mother's Day dinner at 6pm. At that hour it was quiet and relaxing. The menu is very extensive, with many dishes you can't find anywhere else. The food was absolutely delicious! everything we ordered was top notch, and the food came out super quick ( early dinner might have something to do with that, but still very pleasing). The service was attentive and combined with the most delicious Thai food I've had in the East Bay, I would return in a heartbeat.
The service was exceptional! Very nice and attentive staff.
Some dishes were amazing and worth coming back for while some were just okay. The Tom yum soup was probably the best I’ve had in the area and the bowl portion is big enough to share for two. I’ll probably get the hot pot next time cause it’s so good. The catfish and pork belly was cooked very well but I’d say pork belly was overall better.
If you have room for desert the coconut ice cream is good! I got it with the pumpkin custard but I would recommend just getting the coconut ice cream.
