Consistently great food and friendly staff. I love the pumkin ravioli! The homemade pasta melts in your mouth and the house Cabernet is an excellent value
The food and atmosphere were average. Servers were great!
Sat on the rooftop for an early dinner Friday. Weather was spectacular and waitress made recommendations that were perfect. Food was delish and prices reasonable. A great evening.
Our waiter Hamid, very attentive. Had snapper with asparagus, very tasty. A little noisy, but expected on a Saturday night
So disappointed ... I have been here once before an had OUTSTANDING food and service, but that was not my experience this time. SERVICE IS STILL OUTSTANDING. The servers almost move in choreography to bring the drinks and meal and clear unneeded plates and glasses. My water glass was never empty. The Italian Margaritas were out of this world! BUT, the entrees were not very flavorful, and were kind of expensive for the portion size. My friend was told his gluten free option would be penne pasta, but it came as spaghetti. We questioned the server, and she checked and assured us it was GF. He got so ill! REALLY? This is no laughing matter. We will give it one more try. One our favorite restaurants in Wheaton, IL fell way down on our list of places to spend our time and money.
I have been dining at Sogno for several years and have never been disappointed with the food, service, and wine selections.
You are treated like family by everyone and the roof top patio is spectacular. The owner has redone it, and you need to check it out. You will not be disappointed.
I would highly recommend Sogno.
The rooftop is fabulous! Love the ambiance inside as well.
My only problem was that my wife dropped the wine cork in her water and we asked for a new glass and they dumped the water and gave her the same glass with her lipstick on it. My wife drank from my water glass the rest of the meal...
Overall, food was good. I had veal piccata with spinach. For the price, it was a bit skimpy and would benefit from the addition of angel hair pasta or garlic mashed potatoes. It came with a large machete more suitable for clearing brush than cutting this tender piece of meat. Overkill.
Service was friendly but overly rushed. It was 5:00 on a Saturday night, and we were among half a dozen diners. Waiters came three times to take away plates when we were not done. Ill-timed attempt at super service or speeding us through for the anticipated Saturday night rush?
The food and service was ok for Italian food in this area. The space does not have much personality.
Beautiful covered rooftop and delicious, interesting meal and drinks
Food is good; portions are generous. Has a few nicely placed tables overlooking downtown wheaton and a covered rooftop area. If I could offer one suggestion it would be this> Replace your main entrance stair carpeting with a runner that you could replace every few months. Our first visit had us marching up the stairs and they seem a little raggedy with that old carpet----and doesn't make that nice first impression. Once you get up there, its nice and well appointed. but on our way up we were saying "uh oh.....". But overall a nice place. Dave was our server and he was very good.
The food was very good, but the service was very poor. When the bread was delivered we asked our waitress if we could get some balsamic to go with the oil. She said she would get it for us right away. Ten minutes later we asked for the balsamic again and she finally brought it. When it came to the drinks, my wife ordered a specific Pinot Noir. When the wine was delivered to the table my wife commented that it was very dark for a pinot. She tasted it and knew that it was not the wine that she had ordered and spoke to the waitress about it. The waitress came back after speaking to, I believe, the manager. She brought a different bottle of wine with her to show my wife and said that they "substituted" a better Pinot Noir for her. She asked them to take it back and to bring her the wine that she had ordered. She did receive another glass of wine, but again it was darker than a pinot but we were not going to push the issue at that time. The dinner was fine, the desert was very good and then we received our check. It had only one item listed that we ordered - the rest of the items were not ours and we knew that the check was for an amount less than what ours should have been. We did ask the waitress to look at the check as it was not ours and she said "oh yeah, that isn't yours" and brought us the correct bill - no apology, or "thank you" for pointing out that we asked for our correct check which we knew was for a higher amount. Service is so important to a restaurant's survival and this experience was not good, therefore, we will not be returning even though the food was very good.
We went to II Sogno’s to celebrate our anniversary. We sat on the roof top (which I recommend). The food was great. The rooftop staff was very friendly and accommodating. The view was very cool as well. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to our family and friends. We will also be going back.
We had a lovely dinner at Il Sogno - great food, nice service, a really nice night out for us. We definitely would return there if we are in the area again.
The food was excellent as was the wine. The service was very strained we thought. The server seemed annoyed that we asked questions about the menu. It was our first time and I was treating a friend to a Birthday dinner. We did not feel the server wanted to interact, she put plates and glasses on the table then pretty much was just gone without any eye contact. There were some issues with getting plain coffee up to the rooftop, but she finally did bring some up. Something about a law suit and originally we could only get cappuccino or espresso on the roof? Anyway, we would come back, but would not want the same server again.
Food was excellent; loved their avocado bruschetta! I ordered off specials, friends chose menu items ~ delicious!
We love Il Sogno! It's a wonderful spot for a date night dinner, getting out with friends, or if you're just in the mood for a nice Italian dinner. We've come here a number of times, once two times in the same week, and have never been disappointed. The staff have always been very helpful and friendly and the food terrific. We're so glad it's in our home town, just a short walk from home.
My wife and I tried the top floor outdoor deck for the first. It was a very nice atmosphere with some pretty nice views of downtown Wheaton. The food was excellently prepared and the wine was great. I would try this again.
Great food. Order the specials early as they sell out quickly. Rooftop seating on a summer night is wonderful.
Alway great food, drinks and atmosphere. The rooftop is amazing and so much fun. Rose, Rose's Mom (the very talented chef) and Tiffany make you feel welcome and a part of their family. You won't be disappointed!
My husband and I brought my cousins here for a dinner and we were wowed by everything: food, wine list, service (our server was great), the ambiance, and comfort. One small snafu was there was a small piece of steal wool found in one of the entrees. The server was more than apologetic and tried to remedy the issue and we were satisfied to just have the kitchen notified so they could do better in the future. We will be back!!
This is not the first time we went here, this time celebrating a friends birthday. Rose (owner) and her crew went out of their way to set us up on the roof top, provided EXCELLENT service, great atmosphere, friendly staff, very tasty food with a wide selection of wines. Would definitely go again. A+++
Excellent service, food was very good but was overpriced
Came here for a couples night out with my wife and friends from out of town. As usual, the food was fantastic, the wine and cocktails were superb and the atmosphere was classy but casual!
Was seated in the bar area even though I had made the reservations well in advance... Seated between the elevator door traffic and the bar -- not quite as pretty as the dining room. Our table was served by the bartender who acted overwhelmed at all her responsibilities, and the service suffered because of it. We felt totally rushed from the order taking process (never asked us if we wanted an app or a salad) to the food rushed to the table and all handed out to the wrong guests. I'd prefer just asking us "who ordered the special, etc" as opposed to plopping it down and us then trying to figure out who had what pasta placed in front of them. Asked two times for the bread that was promised earlier... Only arrived to us well after the dinner arrived. One drink order never arrived (not charged for it). When the food arrived, there was no room for the dinner plates because the extra side plates and empty glasses -- That stuff should have been removed well before the food arrived. Again, just totally rushed! Food seemed lesser quality that I remembered in the past. I have more to say, but you get the idea...
Awesome experience, love their outdoor space in the roof!!
Great food, great service and great ambience. We will be back soon. So happy we discovered this gem!
The risotto with skate wing was delicious.
When they asked how it was, we mentioned it was just a bit too salty.
It turns out they had just changed parmesan suppliers and the new cheese was saltier than the old.
We did eat the dinner-it was not so salty as to not be edible-it was just heavy on the salt.
They were willing to replace, comp part of the cost, etc, to address this issue in any way we liked. We both felt that their response to the issue went above and beyond what was necessary, and we really appreciate their concern for us.
Next time we are there, when we order we'll make sure to let them know we like very little salt.
BUT WE WILL BE BACK.
Both the food and the service make this an excellent choice for dinner in Wheaton.
Very disappointed in the Caesar salad and desert. The main course was A-
Would look elsewhere for Italian cuisine.
1st time at this restaurant. Appetizers were very small portions for the price but the main dishes made up for it. Waitress knew the menu well and we took her recommendations. Excellent food.
Ashley was our server and she was very friendly and helpful with the menu. Food was absolutely fantastic.
We ate upstairs. Great atmosphere. Quiet noise level. Wonderful food and service.
Usually have a great meal at this restaurant, but something was a bit off Friday. The pasta was under cooked and luke warm when delivered. We didn't enjoy it as we have in the past. We will give it another try and hopefully will not be disappointed.
Perfect, got seating on rooftop
Consistently excellent food and service. The new outdoor roof top dining area is gorgeous!
Great overall experience from cocktails through dessert! Service was exceptional as well. We’ll definitely be back. Great restaurant for the city.
The server was wearing cologne. It is not appropriate for servers to wear cologne and much less when it is so overpowering that it surrounds the table and he leaves it behind even after he is gone. The server did not introduce themselves with their name, initially did not write down our order and than realized we were ordering more than one item per person and after attempting to take away my menu as I was ordering had us repeat our order so they could write down the order. After he wrote down our order he said he would be willing to help us eat our food when it arrived. At that point I couldn't tell if he was being flirtatious with me in front of my spouse which was very inappropriate. We considered leaving at that point but really were hoping the food would make staying worth it. The bruschetta was more like pizza bread and served hot with melted cheese. Not traditional and not what we were expecting. My pasta was not cooked enough. The ambiance felt much more like a lunch hour type of place rather than a nice dinner spot. It all felt too frenzied, rushed, and loud. It is worth mentioning that the hostess, food runners, and other staff were very nice and welcoming despite the bad experience with our waiter.
We found this place on Open Table. We happened to be in the neighborhood and were looking for a great Italian restaurant. So glad we found it! The staff was very friendly. The food was delicious and the rooftop was a wonderful place to dine. It was like taking a quick vacation! Next time we're out that way, we'll be sure to stop by. You should too!
Overall excellent. Love to support a local Wheaton business. Perfect for a nice rain Friday night.
