Sofrito Ratings and Reviews
Had dinner with my girlfriends the other night. Atmosphere and service was great. The white sangria was delicious. Ordered several appetizers to share, including the tostones topped with pernil and steak, the chicken and beef enchiladas, the quesadillas and the avocado salad. All were amazing.
We were in the White Plains area for a craft fair and liked the menu and reviews for Sofrito so decided to try it. We were very happy with our dishes. My husband had the Sofrito paella which he loved. I had grilled mango shrimp. Prices were mostly moderate. They don't give you any chips or salsa or similar first, which would have been nice. Service was attentive. We would recommend if in downtown White Plains.
First time at Sofrito's and was very impressed. Only critique would be that the cocktail prices ($13, etc) seem more in line with what you find at a truly upscale fine dining establishement/steakhouse. Also found it strange that the restaurant has a very modern, sleek vibe with the exception of the dark wood tables that don't seem to fit the decor. Maybe that's intentional?
We drove about 1-1/2 hours from CT to Sofrito to celebrate our 27th Wedding Anniversary. My Wife had been here before and loved it. We were met by an upbeat Server who took our Drink and Appetizer order. My Coconut Mohito was very bubbly, had too much soda in it. The Appetizers were tasty and came quickly. However one was forgotten. The service started to slip from that point on as our Server was also serving the outdoor seating as well. We were looking forward to the Latin Rolls ( Shushi Style ) which were excellent, the Cubano being our favorite. My Wife enjoyed the Tres Leches for dessert as well.
This is the third location I visit. While it's the least appealing aesthetically, the food was excellent and our server was attentive. I was there celebrating a birthday with a party of 9. They charged my credit card twice and three phone calls later I'm still waiting for a credit to my account. Not sure I'll ever return to a place that doesn't immediately rectify a mistake. Not sure they would let us leave restaurant and say I'll pay you in a few days!!!
The food was excellent .. out waiter was wonderful .. the only thing I was disappointed at was on a Sunday .. they only had a brunch menu .. not a lunch menu which made the options smaller for a family member who doesn't eat meat .. she found something to eat .. except she was limited ..
Other than that .. I have no complaints ..
I arrived to the restaurant 30 minutes early with a party of 5 reservation. I understood I had to wait until my reservation time. However, I waited a half hour past my reservation time even though many tables with seating for 5 opened up. The hostesses were not friendly and/or accomodating and seated a group of 5 before me, even though they got there a half hour after I did. Then the waiter came to our table and told us there'd be a 45 minute wait for appetizers/food because they were going to be transitioning from brunch to the regular menu. The food was mediocre. Needless to say I will not be returning to THIS sofrito. This one doesn't compare to the other, newer location.
Got there early for Mother's Day 2 people. . Requested to sit in the back room. We sat 15 minutes after the reservation time. We had seen many people leave and asked about sitting. When we finally sat down there were many empty tables and the additional tables for 2 never were used. A little frustrating. I should have gone to look earlier.
