nice place to take a date / food is excellent / the girls are fantastic and beautiful
I took my girlfriend here for her birthday. Even though the place wasn't crowded, I'm glad we made a reservation. It did eventually get a little crowded, but still was comfortable. My lady had the Surf and Turf, which was scrumptious. I had the Crispy Red Snapper stuffed with Seafood. My meal was delicious also. Would definitely recommend this place!
Had been looking forward to it and was deeply disappointed. Food was not that great, waitress rushing us out and level of noise was so loud you could not talk. I should note we were there for a 7:45 reservation. The crowd was also.... Interesting. Most women were in barely there dresses. Not a family restaurant, though there were children there. I would rather make the trip to don coqui. The food there is great!
I found Sofrito on Groupon. I was excited as my friend and I had been craving mofongo since we got back from Puerto Rico last year. I have to say I was extremely disappointed in the food. The mofongo itself was more of a mush than at all the places we ate in while we were in PR, and was served with "crispy chicken" which was charred and dry and difficult to eat. Our shrimp appetizer was good, and our fried yucca on the side was ok, but lacked enough sauce to have flavor. The atmosphere was cool, the waiter was lovely, and the bar was happening, but I'm sad to say I just did not care for the food.
Great food - efficient, friendly service. The pernil (roast pork) is humongous! A delicious left-over for the next day.
Table was ready when we arrived for our RSVP time..yeh!...after that it was all fun..waiter Eddie kept us chuckling and was super friendly. Birthday girl enjoyed...will come back! Again and again and again.
I celebrated a friends birthday here on a busy Saturday. The restaurant was packed and had guest waiting. The wait was decent but that's because we had a reservation that we missed so it took 20mins. The decor is nice however the white chair I sat on was stained. Its a club vibe with a DJ playing latest club hits n Latin music. That can make It hard for you to hear you convo. Food was delicious and priced well. My waiter made me feel rushed to finish my meal n go quick to desert. I later realized that I had an additional charge on my credit card statement that sofriotos charge me without me knowing. I still dont know what that charge is for since I specifically signed and paid for our dinner without that charge. I wouldn't go bac
Great food, atmosphere, service. Great place to come and eat for all occasions.
This restaurant seemed like it wanted to be more of a nightclub than a restaurant. The music was very loud and the bar area was jumpin'. The food was good not great and the portions were large. It's a little pricey for what it is. The service wasn't that great, okay at best.
The food was good.. A bit loud but that's ok. What I didn't like was the service it truly sucked.. The waiter was a bit blahhh .. I had asked for desert but the check was also put on my table with the desert.. We wasn't ready to leave we were planing on more drinks.. The lady was standing behind me waiting for the payment!!! That made me furious !! So we just left.. Ended up else where for drinks!!! Never again .. Don't rush people out!!! You never know how much they are willing to spend!! Not only that it was only 10:00 on a Saturday!!! What type of service is that... Sorry first and last time!!!
I really enjoyed dining at Sofrito. The food and cocktails were delicious. The only down side of such great food is not ebing able to fully be present with each bite due to the very loud club music playing! The loud club music would be the only thing I change about the restaurant.
Needs a makeover. Food is ok but atmosphere gets a thumbs down. Wouldn't recommend it.
There is no respect for the reservation list. The hostess had the worst attitude, the bar tenders paid you no attention as they were too busy smoking hooka and on their phones. The floor manager had no idea how to manage the table, it was just an upsetting experience all together
Food was excellent as was the service. Bit difficult to have conversation as the music is typical latin as in has to be loud
For someone who doesn't like to eat seafood, tasting my boyfriends seafood dish was the best choice that night. The chicken With mango sauce I had came and I thought it looked dry. But I was so wrong. It was so juicy and tender I was actually surprised. Great space and music selections. Price of the food was reasonable and selections was great.
This is a great spot! Atmosphere was electric! Definitely an experience you must have.
I took him there for his birthday due to recommendations from friends. He loved it. We were not disappointed. Everything was great. Will be going back.
I must say that it was my first time for my girlfriend an me an she enjoyed her self that night , i must say that i also enjoyed my self also. The food was amazingly great an tasteful. I wouldnt mind going back to enjoy a nice night out .
The food was quite mediocre not appealing at all. The worn out ripped seats, scratched chairs, stained walls are all hidden under dim lighting. The place was pretty empty of diners except for another couple sitting at the table next to us. The most action was at the bar..maybe they should just become a bar and give up the restaurant business. This restaurant is very lacking on all levels and do not live up to what is expected from dining at Sofrito . There is simply no comparison in the food, service, ambience and dining experience to its sister restaurants Sofrito White Plains, and Sazon. I am definately never recommending Sofrito Midtown to any friends or colleagues. We will take the trip to White Plains.
We had a fantastic dinner in Sofrito which I will not soon forget. We were transported to Puerto Rico for a lovely lavish meal. The portions were extremely generous and the drinks were good, and service from our waitress, Altagracia was so great!
She was natural, sweet, refreshing and I felt like she was entertaining us in her own home.
We will definitely find a reason to return...very soon!
The ambiance was wonderful, and the restaurant wa beautiful :)
Never knew about soft reservation til Sofrito. It is not for me.
I've always enoyed Sofritos and have be a patron several times however my experience this past Friday was upsettiing. The food was good. The restaurant is too congested. I understand it's a lounge but the layout is all wrong. Diners have a hard time getting from the front door to the the dining area. You basically have to push and shove your way in and out of the restaurant. This is definitely a fire hazard. The music should be lower in the dinning area so patrons can conversate during their meal. Last but not least, an 18% gratuity was added to the bill without our knowledege. Shame on Sofritos, we would given our waitstaff more than 18% had it not been added to our bill. I will never return.
My friend and I got there at 9pm we got a table at 12pm the girl who was the host was horrible she kept telling everyone the wait is 20 min while the wait was over 2hrs. This place is only good big parties because the gratuity is much more then for a party of 2. The host was very nasty had the nerve to be more upset while people were standing for hours
This is an energetic hotspot for authentic food. I recommend reservations because ot could be a wait on a weekend. Great bar and music when I went.
Sofritos during restaurant week provided a good selection on the menu. However it was WAY too crowded. They squeeze you in like sardines. It felt like the Blue Note. Also the tables were parties of 12 and 16 people. We were bumped twice because of them having to seat a larger table. So we waited an additional 45 minutes although we had a reservation. So much for reservations if you don't have 15 people with you! The music in the bar area was anything but Latin. They should have named this place Mamitas B Smiths, because its latin cuisine with R&B. There is NO DANCEFLOOR so don't think you are coming to salsa or bachata like the location in white plains.
My reservations were for 8:15pm but I had to wait for another couple. I understood I couldnt be seated until they arrived. The seating hand device vibrated about 9pm. My party had not arrived yet. They came at 930 when I alerted the hostess but waited an hour and 15 min more. I was delirious by then..so hungry. Yes I could have ordered appetizers while we waited for them but I was hopeful that a table would be able soon. Bad judgement on my part to invite this other couple. Our waitress was so attentive! Food is always great.
We couldnt stay to eat because the place turns into a niteclub!! After showing i.d, I was told to see the person inside. When I opened the inner door, there was a sea of people, and no employee in view. After clawing our way to the dining area,I was told by a waitress that i had to go back to the front door to get a buzzer. This was not the comfortably quiet, with a little music in the background restaurant that i had visited before. We left!! Definitely for the partying young adults, not so much for the family at dinnertime.
Lively environment, great music, fun crowd, it is pretty loud in there. The food was very delicious, my friend had the skirt steak and i had the paella which were both very fulfilling! I recommend it for a night of fun.
Restaurant week is not the only time to enjoy this spot. It is pumping. Music and crowd is hot. Food is plentiful. Try the place and you will be hooked.
The price was very misleading. The top noted a price of $38 and by the time we were done and a pitcher of sangeria the bill was $153. The music was way to loud my date was a nightmare
This restaurant had a delicious menu. The food and drinks are nothing less than outstanding. Now my only issue was the ladies that greeted us in the beginning. We made a reservation and I had to keep following with the ladies at the front. They offered nothing but, attitude and poor customer service. When I apprached them regarding our reservation the first thing the lady did was count my party and inform me that anyone missing from the reservation I would need to pay out of pocket for. She seemed rather bothered that I asked her about this policy. I informed her two of my guest wouldn't be joining us and one was arriving late. Now it was restaurant week and she further informed me they would only get the entree and miss out on other dishes
Sofrito is great because the food is great, well seasoned and the meat is so tender. The portions are enormous, especially for a restaurant. Just know that it is like a club/lounge at the front of the restaurant so it is loud. Still highly recommend.
Everything was excellent but the bar music was a little loud. It could have been worse, but the good and the service made up for everything. I will return!
THE FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING, I CAN NOT WAIT TO GO BACK. A LITTLE PRICEY BUT THE TASTE IS WORTH IT.
I had a great time exploring Puerto Rican cuisine. The ambiance was amazing given its location. This was a great find during Restaurant Week. Staff was very welcoming and attentive to diners. Music was so lively, I wondered if anyone ever just gets up and dance. Too bad there isn't a dance floor. Either way, I highly recommend it.
This place was loud and the crowd was gross. Service was terrible. I will never go back!!!!!
Really yummy food and beautiful place. Came for dinner and had a great experience. Drinks were awesome too!
The food at Sofrito was great! A friend and I tried it for Restaurant Week and could not have asked for more as far as the food and the wait staff service. You are given very large portions and even their normal menu has great prices... you can't go wrong. Our waiter Adrianne was phenomenal! The only minor complaint I have that was although we had a reservation we had to wait quite sometime at the bar until we were seated. (Oh and the girls at the door were not that attentive or friendly.) The bar was awesome! However, i prepared to stuff my face when I got there so I was starving! That, however, will not deter us from coming to the restaurant again... the food was way too delicious! Lastly, we enjoyed the dj that was playing during dinner!
Sofrito Is a place i always go. Great atmosphare! If your looking for somthing quite and more intimate & boring this is not your place. Sofrito has Great music (very loud) on some weekends if your lucky they have a live band there. Great food i have to say. The wine is what keeps me coming back. Homemade Sangria is the best I have taste in a while. Its a great place to loosen up especially if its your first date. One glass of sangria you will be lauging and enjoying eachothers company lol.
Even though I made a reservations for 2 and arrived almost 30 mins before my reservation time, I had to wait an hour and a half (from my reservation time) to be seated. We were then escorted to the dinning room which was packed, almost similar to the subway station during peak hours. My table was practically connected to another table which was a make-shift table of 3. My waiter was not well versed on the menu items, he would say that "he thinks it has meat in it"- being a vegetarian, that information is important. Needless to say, this restaurant would not be my first choice for dinning and if someone invites me, I'll snack before I go so I don't experience the same light-headedness that I did prior.
