Sofrito NYC Ratings and Reviews
I enjoyed the dining experience with my family for the most part. But on the evening I attended which was September 10, 2016, well the operating manager was rather nasty in his customer service experience towards one of my family members at my table. We were a table five celebrating my birthday. My Aunt was not happy with the taste of her Paella, she did not care for how the seafood was prepared and thus the taste of it. She asked to return her meal, and order the oxtails instead. The manager of operations came over to the table after we had given the plate to the waitress, with the meal back in hand and basically chastise my Aunt as to why she was not happy. And then after she explained, he said very abruptly and rather loud, "the oxtail dinner you want instead will cost you an extra ten dollars.
Service was horrible Freddy was the most unattentive waiter. We waited for drinks we even had to wait for silverware in order to eat our paella which was delicious. I work in fine dinning and that would never be tolerated. The food was impeccable and the ambience was unbelievable. The drinks were fabolous. I would go back but never with the same waiter.
My experience the Sofrito was amazing and he staff was quite professional aND pleasant . The food is impeccable and so is ambiance. The low for the night was when I had my vehicle returned from valet only to find that my $150.00 Beats headphones had been stolen by one of the valet employees. So anyone that's coming across this I would recommend that they keep close eye on their belongings in their vehicles. Other than that my date and I were very satisfied.
Here's my problem - and my only problem - with Sofrito: they insist on playing the music at levels that make it almost impossible to have a reasonable conversation with your table mates. I mean there is no dance floor there, so why does the music have to be so loud????
The food was over seasoned and over cooked.
Dj was testing equipment for apparent later festivities and required having the manager ask him to lower the volume. Could not hear anything.
Have visited this location before and the food is much better and the noise level is not so loud.
Will definitely visit again.
It as fine...atmosphere was great...staff as very courteous but our waitress appeared to have too many tables to handle, but ahead was great...very professional, great customer service...iI thought the food as just o.k.,...I don't drink but it seems like a cool spot for drinks or happy hour...especially when it is nice enough to sit outside...great view...again food bit over priced for offerings
I have been to Sofrito a few times now and while it is a pretty decent restaurant, it could be so much more! It has a wonderful view of the Hudson River and GW Bridge, but those aren't hyped enough. The ropa vieja this time was fine, but average. Nothing to write home about. The other thing was that it was HOT inside the restaurant. It was HOT outside, but you need that A/C inside if we can't appreciate the view from their outdoor dining. Lastly, this restaurant is inside Riverstate Bank Park, which seems like it is hurting their business. It was Sunday brunch, but the place was barely half full. They have unlimited 3-course brunch for $42! They have to find a way to get the people in there!
Sofrito is lots of fun. The menu is a little bit of a challenge because the food is Puerto Rican and I am not familiar with the cuisine. However, I love everything we ordered. My husband and I had two appetizer, a salad, and main dishes. Next time I'll try different items. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We like the feeling of Sofrito: lively, family friendly, great for couples, and sophisticated too. By the way, the drinks are great and generous and they have a very good wine selection.
Gorgeous! Beautifully designed inside, perfect on the water. However, I constantly found myself underwhelmed. The patio outside (where we sat only because inside was way too loud) had wobbly tables and the mosquitos ate us alive. A few citronella candles could've gone a long way. Cocktails all seemed fruity and unoriginal. Ended up with white sangria that was good. The food was okay. The service was okay. Nothing really stuck out to me. It seemed like a restaurant good for its decor and that's about it.
I was taken here for late fathers day gift. I book the reservation through open table the hostess didnt have clue where to find the reservation so she said sit where we wanted.
So we sat outside the smell coming from the water was so bad,the waiter was good food was good despite the smell.
Went here last Friday night on a date. First off we sat in the lounge where we would be able to do hookah then we were told we can't do hookah because people were complaining about the smell. We ordered food (just two entrees) and drinks. The drinks took a while to come but we're pretty good. The food took over 1 and a half hours so we ended up leaving! The manager was unsympathetic and slightly rude in the manner he handled customer complaints and concerns. Valet people are also not that friendly. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to a friend. I'd say if you do go..go for lunch or during the week.
We have been there a couple of times and although there is a beautiful view and the food is excellent, I liked their other place better. It had more atmosphere. Plus the acoustics at this Sofrito is so clear, the music is so loud , it is difficult carrying on a conversation.
Two of my girlfriends and I met for a drink before our dinner reservation. We arrived a little after happy hour was over. We sat outside and had a lovely view of the river the park and New Jersey. It was a party everyone was having a great time there was a wedding party there. Really good energy. Drinks were stiff and delicious and we even had a hookah. This was all before dinner. I know the drinks are cheaper during happy hour so if your on a budget go before 7. The food was very flavorful and the ambiance added to the experience. There was a dejay spinning music the whole time so we danced at the table through dinner and then ended up going back outside for another hookah and some dancing. Since we live locally we were home around 12:30. Amazing night!!! We will definitely be going back
I found it to be ridiculous that my family and I almost didn't get in. After making the reservations on Open Table and arriving at the restaurant we were told that our attire wasn't appropriate and we would not be let in. I explained to the bouncer that nowhere on Open Table did it mention a specific dress code. Mind you it was a 9 p.m. reservation, so we couldn't go anywhere else, we had a toddler, and had bought a cake to celebrate a birthday. However, the bouncer was kind and asked for a manager. The manager listened to our story and allowed us all to be seated. However, since one person had on flip flops, and the other person had on a black shirt instead of a button down, they had to wait outside until the table was ready. We waited 30 minutes for a table. After being seated, another one of our friends came and the manager would not let him in. This time it was because he had slight rips in his jeans. Once again, I had to speak repeatedly to the manager and he finally agreed to let him in. After the night was almost over, we asked our server to get our surprise cake so we could sing happy birthday. Instead of speaking to me in english, she went over to someone else at the table and asked them for the name on the cake in Spanish. It just so happened that she ruined the surprise. It was his birthday and she had just asked him about a cake he knew nothing about. Horrible experience!!!
No pArking for customers (in the very large parking space there)
$15 valet only. I told the waitress we was celebrating my daughter and step son birthday, she offered no birthday cheer to them, and when trying to order a dessert from the dessert menu, was told that they only had one cake available (tres leche). When paying the bill, they include a 20% tip on tab, which is annoying, especially to my family that usually tips at least 30%. I forgot to mention I requested to be seated by the window (for the view) but was seated against the wall. It's the little things that's most annoying!!!!
I've been to this place at their old location so I was excited to go their new location since I was in town on business. The hostess and atmosphere were amazing! The food was great and the drinks were as well. The ambiance and scenic view were breathtaking! The only issue I he was with the waitress who only had 3 tables but took way too long to check in and with everyone. In addition, as I was paying the bill, she rudely asked me why I wasn't giving her a 25% tip because that is the norm for her and what she expected since its NY. Her demeanor was offputting but since I've been to this restaurant before, I know that's not the norm so I won't hold it against them and would return.
great for large parties food is always authentic and portions are generous. vibe for late night is amazing especially for out of townees who are use to places shutting down at 10pm. DJ WAS AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE loved him our server Eddie was fun and accommodating totally took care of us on every
The staff is very welcoming and accommodating. Even though we were 20 minutes late, we were seated quickly. The music is nice and not too loud so you're able to have a conversation without having to yell and the view is beautiful. The appetizers, entrees and desserts are good but the portions are small. I ordered the oxtails and they were a little bit spicy. They don't have coffee which I think would be a plus when ordering dessert. Overall, this is a very nice restaurant.
I have been to Sofrito several times since it opened. It's a great place to dine, the food is good. If you prefer to sit at the bar, you have the option to eat and enjoy drinks. Sofrito has a nice ambiance and the view is great. The music is also nice, not to loud that you can't have a conversation. Looking forward for the weather to get warmer and enjoy the outside .
