Pernil was to die for. Thanks Sofrito !
We walk in and the place is nice and they welcomed us. The hostess takes us to our table where the silverware was super dirty on my girlfriends plate setting. The waiter then tried giving her different forks and everyone was dirty. Finally a clean one was brought and we can now order. We ordered 2 orders of the tostones with skirt steak, why I highlight those 2 apps and not the rest is because after putting in the app orders and dinner orders the came back 5 minutes after saying there’s no plantains. How the hell it being Monday the first day of the work week at 5:45pm you have no plantains? Someone didn’t do their job putting the orders in correctly. The food was ok could have been a little better with a little more seasoning. I’ve had better food eating at a food truck in the middle of the street selling the same food for a way cheaper price. I definitely won’t be going back.
Went for my husband’s birthday with our 4 month old daughter. The place was empty as we went at 5, opening time, so it was a nice relaxing meal. The staff was amazing and the food and drinks were even better! Highly recommend.
The first DJ really set the mood and vibe right. The second one however was playing for himself. That was the only negative. I had a great time.
Supervisor Chris, who unfortunately did not help any issue I had while there. During the dinner however, our drinks and meal were not up to the usual standard are at Sofrito. I’ve been to Sofrito when it was in Midtown as well as the White Plains location and never had the type of experience my family and I ensured today.
Our drinks came later than they should have all throughout the night. After explaining how we wanted certain drinks to be made, they still weren’t right. The pernil we ordered was dry and hard, from being overcooked and yes we were given an alternative. The issues continued when after telling servers where were our drinks, they immediately produced, giving the sense of the lack of attention to our table.
When we were leaving, my car was left in front of the restaurant, unlocked, while everyone else’s car was parked in the parking lot. What’s the point of paying 15 dollars? While my father, Peter Wilhelm, paid close to $500 and we paid close to $50 in Valet and double that in tips I find it unacceptable that we were also forced to wait for our vehicles after a younger crowd that came out later than we did. I am 26, but my father and aunt were called “old” by the clientele and told that they should wait for their cars, even though we came out first. The valet and security didn’t show up for us in that case, while we were constantly asked to show ids and all the “images of security” that were present.
We faced a grave injustice in your place of business and I am very sorry but I feel inclined to mention how terrible my experienced on different platforms because a business like yours is one that shouldn’t make those who bring business there feel as though we aren’t respected or regarded as worthy of top service in a restaurant.I am very disappointed with the time I had at sofrito and the owner still has not gotten back to me. They’ve lost the business of everyone who I’ve spoken to and those who were with me.
The place has a great vibe excellent location good music. Service all around not the best. I would not do dinner here again but when the outside opens up I would go for drinks.
I reserved a table for 2 ( my wife and I), got there 10 minutes early to see a club scene which I wasn't looking for, But I didn't let that bother me. Walked in and spoke with the hostess, she told us to sit by the bar and someone will come seat us. From afar I notice she was talking with the waiter on seating another group and two girls plus us. He wasn't paying her much mind since he was into the girls. He seated both the two girls and the group, but didn't bother with my wife and I. So I left it alone, waited 15 minutes after that and still nothing. The hostess looked at me but with a guilty look. after another 10 minutes I just walked out. It was the worst experience ever. Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone unless someone that likes to waste time.
Great service me and my fiancé loved the restaurant definitely would go back even on a regular day.
My friend and I went for restaurant week. First off the location is gorgeous right on the water. Our server was friendly. The food was so delicious. The empanadas were so flavorful as were the sauces. I had the pernil with the rice with pigeon peas and the meat was juicy and packed with flavor. Dessert and the drinks were just so yummy. We both looked forward to coming back again.
Great services and love the food it was amazing the view was just amazing next to the water was just overall great experience
The noise level of the DJ was excessive in the dining room. The floor near the bar was wet from drinks that were spilled throughout the bar area and remained wet for a prolonged amount of time while the host and staff members walked back and forth through the restaurant. Two females danced alone in lounge chairs by the wall in very provocative and inappropriate ways. The behavior and foul language was acceptable to staff while families with children waited for tables and were dining. It would be nice if management would pay more attention to the ambiance and took more control of these situations.
I really enjoyed celebrating me and my friends birthday dinner at Sofrito!!!! We will be coming back very soon.
This was my 3rd time at Sofrito’s and each time I enjoyed the food, ambience & the waiters get a 10.
After work, especially early in the week is amazing. Very slow and you get a beautiful view of the city and bridge.
Good food, good atmosphere but my server was a bit rude. Despite this, i would definitely go back!
Food did not have any Latin flavor it was very blan steak with white rice, beans and platano but I do have to say on a positive note the dopa vieja was good but on top of that they put an automatic 20% gratuity, the mixed drinks on the menu all had some sort of lemon juice in it making it very sour. I came to the original sofrito and was fond of it at the time but after coming again I was not to happy. Valet parking $15 plus’s tip most places in that are do free valet and hey if we want to tip $20 we can do so but let tit be the choice of the customer.
Horrible experience. I waited an hour and forty minutes just to be served my appetizers for a group of 3. We paid 155 dollars and never received our food.
The restaurant was amazing and the ambience beautiful. The food was authentic Puerto Rican dishes. I had the Pernil with Spanish rice and plantains and hubby had the skirt steak with Spinach and plantains. It was delicious and the portions were huge. The appetizers were not the best. I had fried calamari and it was overcooked and the calamari sauce tasted like canned tomato sauce. My hubby had Empanadas that tasted great on the inside but the dough was too thick.
Appetizers aside the overall experience was amazing.
The atmosphere was beautiful and the wait staff were pleasant, however I was not impressed with the food. I got the piononos as an app, the paella for dinner, and the tres leches for dessert. The portions were big and I ended up taking most of my food home, but I felt it was overpriced and underflavored. Would not recommend for dinner. Maybe for just drinks and lounge.
Food was cold and spinach was out of a bag, not fresh
Great food, fantastic drinks and great service. The atmosphere is family friendly but great DJ for late night fun. I loved the outside seating!!
Very good!!! Love the food & music!
Beautiful scenery and amazing food but they should train their servers but that didn't ruin the night!
Yes very nice we had a great time
Coconut rice is horrible and the rice for the rice and beans was not fully cooked.
I made reservations but was running late. When we reached we were seated immediately. I guess Saturday nights they have a dj and the music was poppin. Me and my man were jamming while we were eating. The food was great and the atmosphere was fun and trendy.
Let's start off with the positive the atmosphere was great and music was on par.
On the negative side
No one enjoyed their food
The white rice tasted like coconut
The calamari tasted like fried chicken
The coconut mojito didn't have the coconut flavor
The ropa vieja tasted as if there was only sofrito and no meat.
I was very disappointed with food and the service. We didn't get our meals together. Our waiter disappeared only saw him to take our orders and to give us the check , and then we got stuck giving him a $40 when he didn't even do anything. With the reviews of the restaurant I was under the impression of up to par service. However I was not impressed and would not visit here again.
Service was slow and horrible. The waiter was very careless and acting as he was "over it" when taking our orders. The mosquitos outside were the worst. They should have some kind of repellent to keep them away from our person and our food.
The food was average . The atmosphere was very casual. There were people in shorts and flip flops . I wold have liked a more sophisticated atmosphere to celebrate my birthday.
This place has a very nice ambience the view is great. I don't think they should be charging you $15 valet but they do so be prepared. Upon entering the hostess was doing more talking on the phone then really paying attention. However, I was seated quickly and allowed so wait for my party which was good. Most restaurants won't see you unless everyone is present we all know that. So after being seated I ordered a drink Hennessey Colada. It was pretty good appetizers was fried calamari which was tasty and shrimp and chicken empanada. The empanadas were not good chicken was dry shrimp where??? I myself can make better empanadas. My friend had mashed potatoes with her shrimp they were awful taste like old potatoes boxed potatoes taste better than that. Oh and be careful pay attention to your bill it clearly says gratuity added with 5 or more people. Turns out they add it if your bill is over 100 bucks so pay attention or you will double tip
Had a nice time with friends. Sat outside and watched the amazing view
Also love this restaurant. Such a great vibe! We enjoyed the music as well as the waterfront.
Food was sub-par, prices were a bit much for quality/portion sizes. Music was incredibly loud when we sat outside for dinner. Wait or could barely even understand us when ordering (even brought wrong beer although I drank it anyway instead of correcting). Would be great for a happy hour or late night drinks, dinner not so much.
First of all I got mosquito bites from sitting outside. But mostly the issue was we had 3 different severs, none of whom actually paid us attention. We Didnt get a refill on our water until we got the check. Food and drinks are over priced and 20% mandatory gratuity for 2 people (that isn't mentioned on the menu) is absolutely ridiculous but explains why the servers didn't care. Overall I wouldn't come back. If you're Latino you've had food better than this.
Like the other reviews I read before visiting said, the view is what you go for because the service begs for plenty of improvement. Would be shocked if someone told me that it was NOT our waitress's first day in restaurant service.
Went to Sofrito for Restaurant Week and was pleased beyond measure at my experience there. Excellent food, excellent service and excellent views....will be there again soon!
Sofrito on the Hudson was nice my guest and I sat out side. The music was good, overall the place is very clean food, tasty, fresh. The staff were very friendly and attentive . My drinks remained cold even though I chose to come here on a extremely hot day. Nice view Probably even better at night. I would definitely return.
It was a great time. Went for my mother's birthday, Altagracia was the best server ever!!!
