I’ve been here before everything was awesome! However tonight was terrible. I made a reservation for 8:30pm. I was on time yet the host told me it’s busy so I had to wait. A whole hour and 15 mins pass and the host is there looking dumb and confused because I question again why am I not at a table eating when my reservation was made an hr and some change ago. The response just irritated me so I left. Yet had I been over 20 mins late you would cancel my reservation. Very unprofessional and it put a bad taste in my mouth.
The valet was nowhere to be found, which made us late for our reservation. When he finally came, he was very rude. We had 8:30 reservations. We got in at 8:37 and had a very long line. We were not seated until 9:23, and that was only because I kept repeatedly telling the host that we had been waiting for a long time.
Despite having a reservation and arriving 30 mins early, we were seated neatly an hour after our scheduled time. The food took an eternity and even with the excess time the food was undercooked despite my clients’ specifications. All of these factors made my us very anxious, what was originally intended to be an immersive experience into Latin culture and cuisine for my clients was a tedious and dreadful night. The ambiance was overwhelming, the “DJ” would have been great for a night club scene but the subpar mixes and constant vocal interruptions made it impossible for us to even enjoy the music. Overall, I’m rather disappointed.
Everything was great, the only thing the music was to loud.
Everything was great.
Besides the fact that I had a reservation and the host skipped over me twice and went to 2 other parties before I had to tell him he seated others before me.
But it was great drinks, great food, get waiter, music kept me in my seat dancing.
Nothing to complain about...the question is always..would i return? Yes
Very beautiful place, food was delicious. It was a bit pricey since it was a Valentine’s day event. Music was a bit loud so not really the place to have a conversation or a date. But overall great music and great atmosphere.
Great restaurant! Great food, great value! A little loud but definitely one of my favorite places to eat!
I went to Sofrito with my boyfriend for Valentine's Day and found that the portions were a decent size, but not entirely sure if worth the price.
No parking so we had to pay for valet service, then we had to pay to check our coats, and our table was not ready. The noise was unbearable as they had a live DJ.
Lively, festive atmosphere. Beautiful views of the Hudson with the GW Bridge glittering in the background. Drinks were excellent. Try the Sofrito Old Fashioned. Food was delicious and portions are gigantic. A shout out to the staff who is charming, knowledgeable, and appropriately attentive. Reminder: great outdoor space in the summer
There was a service charge of $26 and we were only a party of 3. Have no idea why that was automatically added to the bill. It was a little too loud. Could barely here my friends.
Music is way tooooo loud while having dinner
Enjoyed the atmosphere and the view. The food was good not excellent. The service (at the table) was HORRIBLE. Sub par! Needs to be addressed. If a tip was not already included I would have left NONE! The bartenders were warm, receptive and provided great service. The hostesses could be more attentive and greeted with more interest and a smile.
I have been here on many occasions over the years. I have gone for birthdays, for date night or just a night out with the boys. The food is authentic. Priced right; especially for the ambiance. I highly recommend for a first date night. For all the guys that live wash heights/ Harlem area and your girl has never been. This place will definitely impress!
We have been to Sofrito many times, but this time was for my wife's birthday and while the two of us usually come for 12/12:30 we pushed this reservation to 1 PM since we were a larger party this time around. There were not many people dining as of yet and I must say this was the slowest the servers and waiters have been with drinks and water. What was worse was all of our main entrées were cold though only 1 of us sent the food back. This was the only time we have had a subpar experience with Sofrito and hopefully, on our next trip, they bounce back from this mediocre experience.
I reserved under birthday and we did not even get to have a surprise dessert for the birthday person. Waiter took forever to check on us. The crowd was nice but it seemed like the waiters were confused on what tables they were serving.
Service was not as expected. And there’s no point of making a reservation when you are still waiting almost 2 hours to be seated. Yet you as a guest are told of you aren’t there within the 15 min grace period your rsvp won’t be valid. It’s absolutely ridiculous. We weren’t even compensated for the wait which management should have done from the beginning due to the fact we got there at 7:35 yet waited until 9:03 pm to be seated. For a “ exclusive “ place you’d think that service and professionalism would be number one here.
Very good ambiance with good drinks and services but food is extremely over prices and not good at all. Your name is Sofrito start using some to give taste to the very bland food.
The worst in all my years of coming!!! They turned it in to a club and I had to be searched in order to eat dinner at 9:30pm! Really!!! I come to eat not join the party!! I’m paying my money to eat and have to be searched and mandatory coat check that I have to also pay for......
Amazing, the staff and the food were most accommodating!
Service was horrible until the very end. The up chargers for basic things like cheese were ridiculous.
The food was disgusting. I was so bummed being a long standing patron of the old one on 57th. I always used to go for the pernil. Best i ever had but at this one it was so disgusting. It was so dry and overcooked that i had to douse it with hot sauce. The top which is supposed to be crispy was slimy and wet and congealed. The rice and peas seemed like they were several days old and it came with only 3 maduros. Such a disappointment and a waste of money.
My reservation was for 10:00pm got there 5 minutes before and was told by the hostess that we would be seated between 10-10:15. It was 10:30 by the time we were seated at a table with a reservation. Unacceptable and poor time management . It hasn’t changed much since the last time I went which was an even worse experience. Unfortunately I can’t say that I will be back anytime in the near future, it’s a beautiful venue but the service and food is not up to standard for an established restaurant.
Firat time i visited the new location. Food is nowhere near as good as it used to be. Given how empty it was, I am not alone in this view. At 51st you would wait for an hour at a lively, Fun bar. We were one of 3 tables on a recent weeknight, after making a special trip from midtown just for this place. Wont be back
I came to dine here during the week and it was empty. The food was ok though the Paella dish was not properly prepared, it was made with regular rice grains. The worst part of my experience is that I only came in to dine with my lady and when I asked for the bill I noticed they had already added the gratitude under service charge of 32$ FOR JUST A PARTY OF 2. The receipt also came included with suggestion to add more to the tip already added. So I dont recommend this place to anyone.
The paella for two was amazing. We took a lot of it home! The DJ was fantastic. My boyfriend and I went for our anniversary, we told the staff, and they gave us a free slice of cake with a sparkler on top. One of my favorite restaurants in the city. Can't say enough good things!
I loved the place will definitely go back. Music was loud was sat right under a speaker.
Great place for a date !
While it was ok, I was surprised at some of the prices for example of the pernil being $33. That is just an outrageous price for a meal. And our first batch of empanadas were frozen in the middle. The second batch were fine but made me wonder about food production there.
BUYER BEWARE - DO NOT GO TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT
This restaurant is not worth anywhere near the amount of money they are charging for poor food, slow service, rude waitstaff and worst of all a very rude manager.
I hadn't even received my credit card receipt to sign when the manager Cristian Guzman came to our table, didn't introduce himself at all, then aggressively demanded we move to the bar to clear the table. I explained I hadn't finished my drink and was waiting to sign the receipt, he said do it by the bar. He then used other rude language which I can't write here.
I try to support businesses in the community which is why I tried this one but it was a huge miss. Whoever owns this place do yourself a favor and fire this Cristian fellow, I would be embarrassed to have such a rude and non-service oriented person running my business. We all understand the need to turn over tables but approaching customers in an aggressive, frankly ghetto, uneducated and rude manner is simply not the way to do it.
Everyone out there do yourself a favor, skip this poorly run establishment and find another business that will actually appreciate your patronage.
We take pride in what we do and providing our guests with the best possible experience. I would like to address your review as it is very misleading. We offer reservations. After two hours and all parties finished their dinner, you were politely approached twice, as the next reservation had been waiting for their table. I addressed you respectfully throughout the whole interaction. You cursed and let me know the amount of the check and price of your watch, shaming my occupation.
The service was great but I went on a Sunday evening (6pm rez) so it was empty which was good since we got attention from the staff which doesn't seem to be the experience with other people's reviews. The food came out a little cold, that was the biggest concern, but it was presented really well. The crab artichoke came out with toasted sliced bread wedges (like from the grocery) that threw me and my date off. The drinks were great, and the ambiance was excellent, it was just a little loud, my date had to sit closer to have a conversation. I would go again, but during a time when there's no DJ perhaps.
This restaurant exceeded my expectations. Great music, atmosphere and ambiance.
The food was delicious and servings were plentiful. The service was excellent. The ambience was a chill vibe, super relaxing. Ilonka, our waitress, was extremely helpful and delightful.
Great place. But really a gratuity fee built in for 3 people. Surprised
Honestly, I had dinner before on their other two locations before they closed and I use to love their food and atmosphere, however, this time my experience was totally different. To start with the reservation ... Why bother making one if they not going to have a table ready for you and will make you wait over 45 minutes to get one ??? Absolutely non sense. Than if you make a complaint about the wait, they will give you a nasty attitude. The waiter was totally impatient and in a rush. We were a group of 5 and they brought our food at different times so we had to wait to be able to eat together. The menu was not elaborate and the price was high for the service they offered. Totally disappointed!
Love, love🥰 this place simply Awesome the food is Delicious and the music is fantastic I had a great time 🤗
The atmosphere was festive, after 8:30PM the music became louder and encouraged dancing, a party atmosphere. The food was not awful, I expected Puerto Rican inspired food however the food was EXTREMELY bland. I orderd the pernil and it tasted like baked pork with gravy, there was not even a hint of garlic or other puerto rican seasoning.
Birthday celebration. Had a blast
