Born in Milan to a renowned restaurant family, Chef/Owner Maurizio Michi has always had a passion for cooking.
This Northern Italian Restaurant features classics that include, Ossobuco alla Milanese, Braised Short Ribs of Beef, Veal Chop Emiliana, Fish Stew Viareggina, along with Steaks, Lamb Chops and grilled Sea Bass Branzino all of which are executed to perfection under his watchful eye.
Sofi also offers authentic Italian pastas that are prepared in house daily with the freshest ingredients in the market.
Bread, Focaccia and all of our desserts are also prepared daily.
some examples of the desserts include Panna Cotta, Chocolate Souffle, TiramiSu and Ricotta cheese cake.
The wine list is comprised mainly of wine from Italian vineyards with some California exceptions.

Fantastic food, service and ambiance. It was my first visit (definitely not the last!) but I heard nearby tables gathering and so many seemed to be regular patrons. I'm so happy I chose this restaurant, and would highly encourage others to do the same! Five star experience!!

Great location, good food and superb service. We started with the Wagyu beef appetizer, had the lobster ravioli and asparagus risotto. Ended with two sherbets - pomegranite and peach which were astoundingly fresh and tasty. Great experiecne.

Our service was really good. Very attentive. A little too attentive until the restaurant started to fill up. My first time there. Lots of little kids. I was surprised by that. It didn’t bother me, but definitely not a quiet romantic spot on a Friday night if that’s what you want. I had the octopus which was cooked well and had good flavor, but was quite gritty. My two adult daughters had pasta dishes. Neither were impressed. The “baby ears” pasta had zero flavor. The rigatoni Sofi was okay. It had bacon in it and the flavor overpowered anything else. We went there bc we had tickets at Chicago Auditorium and it was a great location for a quick walk to the theatre. Unfortunately not wowed enough to return to Sofi.

Delicious pistachio martini, baby octopus, lamb shank, lobster ravioli! Generous portions. Highly recommend!

We adore this little gem of a restaurant with deliciously fresh and creative options from starters through pasta, salads, mains and dessert. Traditional selections executed beautifully. Nice wine list and engaging service staff. They have a very nice patio for the warmer months and an inviting and cozy dining room - small but not crowded.

Jasper was such a great server! He was knowledgeable about the food and the wine list. We definitely will add Sofi to our Chicago dining list!

One of our favorites after a Sunday matinee at the nearby Jazz Showcase. Friendly staff, great food and lovely bird prints.

Arrived for our reservation and hostess told us restaurant was full - and we would have to wait 15-20 minutes for our table. That was unacceptable, so we sat at the bar. Bartender (name ??) was great, knowing that we had to be out in 45 minutes (to the Jazz Showcase.) Burrata appetizer was good. The chicken breast in the Chicken Piccata was chewy (overcooked?) but the sauce was tasty. However, $39.00 for Chicken Piccata is way overpriced. We've eaten here several times before and this was not our best experience.
