Born in Milan to a renowned restaurant family, Chef/Owner Maurizio Michi has always had a passion for cooking.
This Northern Italian Restaurant features classics that include, Ossobuco alla Milanese, Braised Short Ribs of Beef, Veal Chop Emiliana, Fish Stew Viareggina, along with Steaks, Lamb Chops and grilled Sea Bass Branzino all of which are executed to perfection under his watchful eye.
Sofi also offers authentic Italian pastas that are prepared in house daily with the freshest ingredients in the market.
Bread, Focaccia and all of our desserts are also prepared daily.
some examples of the desserts include Panna Cotta, Chocolate Souffle, TiramiSu and Ricotta cheese cake.
The wine list is comprised mainly of wine from Italian vineyards with some California exceptions.

HUGE fan of Sofi! I would highly recommend their French Martini - definitely one of the best I've ever had. I had the Chicken Emiliana, and while I wasn't a huge fan of the idea of the ham cotto being on it, I'm so glad I took the chance. The entire meal was incredible, and for a person for whom potatoes are usually a "meh, I'll get to those later" experience...the potatoes were superb. The chicken was everything I'd hoped. Regrets: not trying some of their bread or cheese plate appetizers. I know what I'll be ordering next time I go for sure! Highly recommend!

First time at Sofi - food was delish, just had an assortment of apps, Bruschetta w/Prosciutto, both beef and tuna carpaccio, and tuscan sausage, ended with both the tiramisu and creme brulee. Everything was fantastic, our server was prompt and friendly - will definitely put Sofi on our repeat list!

I've lived in the south loop for 8 years and didn't know Sofi was here till now. Our loss. It's a small restaurant with a great ambiance and serving good Italian food. We'll be coming back regularly. Just what the south loop needs.

Service was slow and we felt like we were being ignored by our waiter. Food was decent. Venue was pretty noisy. This was our second visit to Sofi- our experience was much worse this time. We won’t be returning.

we had all seafood. The something " la mer". (the sea, in Italian) was good loaded with shrimp, octopus, calamari, clams and mussels! A special that day with huge tiger shrimp over fettuccine with a lobster sauce was quite good. Would go again to sample their other pastas. Friendly fast service

You absolutely have to try Sofi! It is our new favorite restaurant!! The food is over-the-top delicious! The pastas are exquisite, with loads of flavor. The risotto was luscious without being too rich. The bar drinks were spot on and strong! And the desserts were decadent. I just can't rave enough. Honestly the best Italian food by far in the city!

Sofi is very authentic Northern Italian cuisine. The food was delicious from apps to main course to dessert. We've been to many Italian restaurants in Chicago and Sofi ranks among the best. Our server Stephano also took very good care of us.

Albino is wonderful. It was my birthday last night and we were greeted with Prosecco with sliced strawberries. For a starter we selected foie gras and porcini mushrooms on toast. Delicious! Albino then brought us a Primitivo from Puglia and Pinot Grigio. The Osso Buco was awesome as was the Beef carpaccio. A truly wonderful experience. Thank you Sofi and Albino.

I have been to Sofi several times. Last night was no exception to the tradition of excellent food. Very informal ambiance but the owner, whose mother was also the chef at a famous Milanese restaurant, runs it in a most professional manner. We were starved and plowed through 4 courses each including one split pasta dish. Each was true to its Italian heritage and the flavors were rich and deep. I'll return when I am eating downtown.
