The canoli was great as was the service. The libster ravioli was so-so. I would definitely go nack though and try another entree
Food was mediocre. Nothing outstanding.
Food was VERY GOOD but noise level VERY LOUD!!!
Went for the restaurant week special menu. Delicious food, a nice glass of prosecco to start. We enjoyed the food and the ambiance of this very nice restaurant.
Sofi is a lovely neighborhood restaurant. The food is always fabulous. The wait staff makes me feel like a valued guest.
We went for the pre-fixe menu on New Years Eve. Service was beyond slow. The food was awful. They were trying to pass off mushrooms and raisins on toast as foie gras. Added insult: they include a service fee of 20%!
I had a really terrible experience and would not go back.
I had high hopes for this restaurant because I'm always looking for good restaurants close to my home, but unfortunately Sofi missed the mark in a couple areas. I went on NYE and service may not have been the best since they were busy, however I felt our meals (risotto and beef) were average at best. The staff, though, was very nice and accomodating.
Absolutely fantastic restaurant in every respect: ambiance, service, food, convenient location. Wonderful!
Lovely place with reasonable prices for the area. Food was excellent as was the service. Will definitely go back.
Great restaurant great service enjoyed our dinner very much. Our food was excellent appetizers through main courses. Definitely going back. Cozy restaurant not a chain.
First, I have to say I have been here probably 20 times now, and it NEVER DISAPPOINTS. Which is why my wife and I have gone over 20 times. We have taken many friends and family here as well and now it is one of there favorite places.
So, this last time we had a different appetizer. We had a flatbread with brown butter sage and prosciutto on it. I flatbread that had the word Emeliana in the title. Has to be a top 3 food I have ever eaten. Not here, anywhere. The pizza (flatbread) was done perfectly. and then brown butter sage and prosciutto in top of it put it over the top. I have had that Emeliana sauce with a veal chop or even a pork chop. And now they have it with chicken as well. It is outstanding. For dinner I had a veal chop Milanese and my wife had the short rib. You cannot go wrong with either. but be hungry because it is a lot of food, with the appetizer. Which worked well for us, because the meat and the polenta (you get with the short rib) warmed up great two days later for lunch.
Charming and simply delicious. This meal reminded me of eating in Italy. Simple and unpretentious. Can’t wait to return.
Everything about our evening was great- food, ambience, service.
A great find, had that neighbor hood feeling.
Good food, excellent service, nice ambience. Would go there again. Convenient to Adler
Recommended to us at our hotel. Excellent food! Very affordable for Chicago! A hidden jewel not far from our hotel.
I have been to Sofi several times and I have always thoroughly enjoyed my meals. The homemade pasta is tasty and never overdone. They use fresh ingredients and serve portions that are satisfying and not overwhelming. Reservations are a must. I wish they were also open for lunch! Because the space is small, the noise level is sometimes a little high for comfortable conversation, but overall its cozy and the delicious food is well worth it!
Great neighborhood eatery. Northern Italian menu with great salads and lots of main courses to choose from.
The branzini was prepared perfectly and Negroni was great
Our pre-theater experience at Sofi was wonderful. There were five of us in the party. We shared a bottle of wine, 2 antipasti, 3 pastas, and a tiramisu. The carchofi were soft, not stringy like artichokes can be sometimes. The burrata with tomatoes and basil was fresh and flavorful. We tried 3 pastas: lobster ravioli, veal agnolotti, and pesto gnocchi. The ravioli were generously filled and cooked perfectly al dente. The gnocchi were soft and pillowy, and the pesto had a lovely fresh green flavor. The tiramisu was by far my favorite dish, possibly some of the best tiramisu I have ever eaten. The mascarpone layers were generous, fluffy, and not too rich. The ladyfingers were saturated in coffee and kahlua but not too boozy. I would definitely go there again, and I would recommend it to friends. The service was smooth and helpful, and we made it to the theater on time.
I had the bronzini which was fresh and cooked perfectly in a light butter, lemon and white wine sauce. I have had bronzini at many other restaurants and this was the best. My companion had a house made pasta served with broccoli rabe dressed in a olive oil, garlic. The pasta was perfectly cooked. We shared a house made pana cotta for dessert which was velvety and tasted wonderful. Service was unobtrusive but attentive. The menu is small for an Italian restaurant but I am sure everyone will find a suitable dish. I will definitely return on my next trip to Chicago.
Lovely quiet atmosphere. Great for conversations, and great food.
Supurb food and ambiance. We dine here every time we come to Chicago. A hidden gem!
Way too expensive!!!! Snotty waiter and average food. Small portions. Did I mention expensive!!!
Food was excellent and served hot. Service was accommodating and prompt to get us to the theater on time!
Good food, but portions small for price. Spaghetti was a little too firm. Very friendly and accommodating wait staff.
Great food and service in a comfortable neighborhood atmosphere.
Excellent pasta dishes. Great octopus appetizer. Rave reviews for the bolognese sauce.
Authentic Italian food experience- will go back often
This place is never a disappoinment! Great cocktails, food, and exceptional service!!
Wonderful ambiance, at tentative service, delicious food!
Found this place after our first dinner option fell through, and I'm honestly so glad it did! Everything about the place is phenomenal. The service is first-class, the food was mouthwateringly divine, the atmosphere is wonderful. I am so happy I found this place and cannot wait to return!
It was great - the servers were really attentive and the burrada was amazing! Though it’s not my fave Italian place, I would definitely come back :)
great service-great food and location was awesome
Would recommend to others
Great food and service.
The food is excellent. If you have ever been to Italy you know this is a truly authentic northern Italian meal . We loved the fresh pasta , seafood and the veal . The apple pies for dessert was the best I have ever had . It’s was all amazing . Can’t wait to return on our next trip to Chicago!
It was great. Waiter was helpful. Service was tremendous. Food was great
A truly great, authentic Italian neighborhood restaurant
Great small restaurant in our neighborhood. We’ve been living in Printers row for so many years but have just tried it for the first time. The waiter was very attentive and helpful and the food was amazing (we had the special with the home made pasta and gnocchi). Definitely recommend it for a nice date or dinner.
Tried Sofi out upon recommendations of friends. Six of us dined and everyone thought the food was delicious and very authentic. A Scottish couple in are party frequently good to Italy and they were very impressed with the food at Sofi.
