Born in Milan to a renowned restaurant family, Chef/Owner Maurizio Michi has always had a passion for cooking.
This Northern Italian Restaurant features classics that include, Ossobuco alla Milanese, Braised Short Ribs of Beef, Veal Chop Emiliana, Fish Stew Viareggina, along with Steaks, Lamb Chops and grilled Sea Bass Branzino all of which are executed to perfection under his watchful eye.
Sofi also offers authentic Italian pastas that are prepared in house daily with the freshest ingredients in the market.
Bread, Focaccia and all of our desserts are also prepared daily.
some examples of the desserts include Panna Cotta, Chocolate Souffle, TiramiSu and Ricotta cheese cake.
The wine list is comprised mainly of wine from Italian vineyards with some California exceptions.

The space features 60 seats with a front patio that holds 30. This is Michi's first solo restaurant in Chicago, although he's a vet that was literally born in a kitchen in Italy. He owned a restaurant in New York City for five years before moving to Chicago.

If you’re looking for authentic, class and a great atmosphere SOFI is the place to go. Unmatched detail and attention to service and quality of food. Food was good, pricey but that is to be expected. We got exactly what we order and in good time. But unfortunately the two servers we had were not friendly at all. It was as if our presence there was an inconvenience to them despite the restaurant being almost empty. We could barely understand what they were saying and not once did they smile at us. It kinda ruined the whole experience because it felt like we weren't welcome there.

What a special restaurant! This is the gem that you have been looking for! Reasonable prices, stunning food, and delicious specials on a daily menu is what to expect, and you will still be delightfully stunned by your experience! My wife leans vegetarian, I am a carnivore; we were both totally satisfied with our meals. We were not super hungry, so we decided to order light meals... My wife started out with prosciutto wrapped zucchini blossoms with their homemade marinara sauce. It was delicious and the prosciutto was lean and amazing. I had the carpaccio. It was great and served with fresh arugula, shaved parmesan cheese, and a house made sauce. Next, my wife had the lobster ravioli. It is the best she has ever had. I had the pepper seared tuna. It was served with fresh tomatoes and fresh shaved fennel root with a wasabi sauce. The wasabi sauce was not hot. It added flavor without punishment and color without distraction. For dessert, we had the special daily menu Nutella crepes. We drank a very reasonably priced brut rosé prosecco with our appetizers and meal. The waiter that we had was an Italian gentleman. He enhanced our enjoyment of the experience. We will be back, grazie!!

This place was really fabulous. Even though they didn’t have a kids menu, they made exactly what my kids asked for and they loved it!!! The kids wanted to go back the next night. Very happy with our experience here.

What a neighborhood gem. We lived in Italy for a lot of years and this is the most authentic Italian we can find in Chicago! The staff are amazing. The food is delicious and you can choose from the more lively side of the restaurant, which is a little louder or the extended quieter room depending on your group size.
