Society on High Ratings and Reviews
My coworker and I had trouble deciding what to order--not because we didn't like much of what was on the menu; it was because liked all of it! I ordered the chicken sandwich and she the tuna--both well-seasoned--and the fries and chips were divine and plentiful. The noise level wasn't too loud for conversation, but that might've been because we were seated in the back corner. We will definitetly return!
Our server was lovely, but everyone else there looked miserable, especially the hostess who called to confirm the reservation and then sat us at a table by the kitchen door despite multiple other options. When we inquired about those other options, she was less than gracious. It was clear that there were easily 1,000 other places she'd have rather been than there. Was it her or how the place is managed? Who can say? I'll probably not be back, which is a shame because the ambiance is nice and the food was good.
Since the last time I was at Society on High, they emphasize and have a more extensive tapas style menu in the evening (there are only about 4 entrees). The tapas is fairly broad and therefore lends itself to plate sharing whether just 2 or a larger party. We had the risotto balls, calamari, steak tips and kale and broccoli fritters. Nothing cutting edge in that ordering and therefore the results were what we expected solidly executed. The wine list was reasonable though they were out of the original Italian wine we ordered but the substitutes recommended were good alternatives. Service was prompt, efficient and friendly.
Greated by a very rude host.
This is mainly a bar with a few tables for eating.
We felt throughout the meal that we were an inconvenience to them and diners are definitely shoved away in a corner.
Food was of an acceptable standard.
Certainly nothing outstanding.
Definitely would not recommend going.
Creative and tasty appetizers. Tapas were varied and as creatively presented as they were delicious. The server(s) (evidently we hit the end of our original server's shift) were a bit distracted but still fairly attentive without being annoyingly intrusive.
My wife and I were in Boston for a nice, relaxing romantic weekend to celebrate our birthdays and sort of stumbled into this place. It was a good thing I had researched it online as even though it was only a few blocks away, it's sort of tucked away/hidden in the lobby of the building (99 High). Great little gem of a spot.
