Social Restaurant & Bar
City Style Dining with out the City Style headaches!
This place is AMAZING!!!! Restaurant is beautiful and the food was absolutely delicious - one of the best burgers we have had in a long time. Service was top notch - we will definitely be going here again!!!
Food, value, parking, service, atmosphere, all absolutely FANTASTIC!!
My wife, who can be extremely harsh on our dining out ventures, was thrilled.
Great Mothers Day!!
Great food, great service, great prices and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
Great service always
Service was wonderful. Food decent.
Fairly disappointed given the positive reviews previously posted. Service was very slow - dinner took over 2.5 hours. The wait staff seemed overwhelmed despite the restaurant not being that busy. Waitress was really trying but kitchen and bar were not helping her at all. Food is fine - nothing to write home about. With so many other choices in the area, we will not be back.
I would come again, all the entrees were well made and good size. We had heard of Social through the Bourbon and Bacon fest and loved their tomato bisque. We were anticipating the same, spoke of it to our guests how great it was, then when it was delivered, it was like the chef opened up a can of crushed tomatoes. Really. The staff was super, and I am hoping to try the bisque again😊
It was my mothers Birthday and we had a wonderful time. The food was outstanding and the service was friendly and attentive. Can’t wait to go back!!
Always a good time and good food. Brunch on Sunday is worth the trip out of the city.
The food was great, but the dessert was not .....The service was not great
Food was great. The service was equally great. We had a terrible table of complainers sitting next to us. This table was terrible but I liked the way the staff handled them. The owner introduced himself and thank us for coming which always makes you feel special.
I was celebrating my birthday on Saturday night with my family. Seven people Saturday Night at 6:30. We ordered drinks and apps- Drinks came out quickly while apps didn't arrive 40 minutes after sitting. The waitress wasn't proactive and just gave lip service. "Ohh, I saw them plating them." Once she recognized there was a problem she avoided our table. I got up and spoke to the manager- This is the point where you the dinner could go horribly wrong or move towards a positive. The owner immediately came up to me and apologized and didn't give me excuses- The APPs didn't get fired, BUT we will cover the apps and your dessert. The APPs were rushed and came out only a few minutes before our meal. The waitress then came over and bought us a round of drinks. In my opinion that would have surfaced and as long as the food was tasty chalk it up to a mistake. Well- The food was terrific, cooked perfectly, and delicious. Now when you make a mistake, and you go out of your way to fix it, I believe in management... Here they went well overboard to make sure we were satisfied. The check was delivered by the two owners and once again apologizing for the errors in the night. They invited us back to try them again by providing us with gift cards. Great Job in turning a bad experience into a positive one! We will certainly go back. BTW- this is my first review ever. I felt compelled to write this for them.
Our server was attentive but not invasive and the food was excellent! All four of us enjoyed the burgers (beef and veggie) immensely.
Grey drinks and tuna sliders were great
John makes fantastic cocktails especially the old fashioned and espresso martini
Good for a celebratory Sunday brunch. They accommodated us nicely, good menu selection, friendly service, well located for people coming from different directions.
Love this place. Hip and happening. Could use live music option.
Great food, great service. Worth going back.
Food and drink were excellent. The waitress was very attentive without being a bother. Would definitely go back.
Wonderful service at Season 52 Chestnut Hill!
From the moment of entrance, my guest and I were greeted by hosts, escorted to our table by professional staff, presented a delicious meal by a skilled server—all with excellent customer service.
This is the 3rd time we have come to this restaurant. I agree with one of the reviewers who said that the best things on the menu have been removed from the menu. The things we remember we like last time are no longer on the menu. We ordered safe things such as macaroni and cheese and pumpkin ravioli with brown sage sauce. Both were very mediocre.
I think I have now figured out this place. Whereas at one time they tried to make it a destination restaurant with above average food, now they intentionally are making it just passable. I believe they have calculated what percentage of people who stay at this tourist hotel will just automatically go to the in-house restaurant after a day of traveling out of quick and easy convenience. They are only catering to those people.
We live in this town. There are so many other places which are good, such as the Bertucci's and Amarin of Thailand which are one short block away and the Max and Leo pizzeria across the street. Why would I come back to this place?
I've been dying to try this place out since it's close to where I live - I've walked in before and the place is EMPTY. I went in on Saturday for a lunch with my friend - service was incredibly slow which is confusing because we were practically the only people in there (2 other tables when we arrived - an hour later we were the only ones). The manager was great - which is why i'm giving service 2 stars... took almost 10 minutes for our 2 mimosas, she up-charged us on both? The waitress was just extremely out of it, said "she's not as quick as she used to be"... If you're a waitress and the place is empty - service should be quick and snappy! I got the steak and cheese sandwich which was decent, nothing fancy. I just now know why the place always seems empty...
Good, Hugh quality selections for wine and food. Had the cheesesteak sliders and fries, which were really well made and tasty. It’s not a sports bar, but they did have the Red Sox game on at the bar which was cool. I’d definitely try this place again.
The Open Table menu for this restaurant was misleading. Half of the items were not listed on the menu we were given. As a result we paid our drink tab and went to another establishment.
It was early so when our food came up cold they seemed annoyed that we sent it back and when it came back the waitress said that should be warmer, yes it was warmer but was not hot. Whole thing was bloody awful. Would not recommend to anyone.
The menu was very slim. There was no substitutions allowed even for an allergy. Our waiter was very inattentive and we were one of 3 tables in the restaurant.
Went here for Brunch but they don't offer it currently on Saturday. Had a nice lunch anyway. The clam chowder was superb. The service was excellent and the dining area clean and well organized. I will visit the Social again. It's a nice neighborhood restaurant, not stuffy or too pricy.
There was not much of a food selection and drinks were not good, either too strong with no flavor or too sweet. I know they are trying because there was a band that night but they need to improve in drinks and food.
We left hungry after an expensive bill.
The food was tasty, the service was very good and the blues music was fabulous
The food was not very good but there were 6 of us and we had a great time together. It was very comfortable and we could stay quite a while enjoying each other's company. The drinks were fine.
The restaurant was not busy however we waited a long time for service and for food. When the food arrived it was cold and had clearly been sitting under the heat lamp for a while. My husband sent his omelette back… A ham and cheese omelette which should be so easy yet it was dry and cold. Another server took the omelette back to the kitchen and then returned with a scramble in a skillet. Our actual server never acknowledge that the food went back until we pointed it out to her. She seemed very dis-interested in the fact that the food had come out and was not satisfactory. We did not have drinks just coffee and our total bill was over $70. Dirty plates sat on our table for quite some time without the server taking them away. The menu looked amazing and we were really excited to try this place and needless to say it was disappointing on all fronts. The omelette was not removed from our bill and the manager never came over to see how we were doing or if we were happy. When things go wrong at the table someone should check in. I was A server for over 10 years and this would never of been tolerated at any of the restaurants I worked at.
The waitress was fantastic, she gave recommendations and was extremely attentive. Had a great meal and there was live music with a Senatra feel. Would definitely go there agai
Overpriced; did not like meal at all. It was an overcooked fried chicken drumstick soaked in honey with greens and two dry biscuits. I let the waiter know that I did not like the meal and he said he would let the kitchen know. He did not offer me something else to eat. I waiting for that for such a long time we missed the beginning of the show that we were going to. I was still charged $22 for that meal that probably had the food cost of $2.
We returned to the hotel later that night before closing / last call and they said they were closed when the bar was full and it was only 12:30. I reached out to the management of the restaraunt and they did not return my email or phone call. I don't rate restaraunts ever, I don't send food back but this was a major rip off and the total lack of hospitality was appauling. I gave them multiple chances for them to make it right including waiting weeks for them to get back to me. Don't go here.
Not an inviting location. However, the staff was very friendly and my burger was excellent.
Perhaps the most underrated place in the burbs
I heard about tit on WBZ radio and LOVE it
The menu is IMPRESSIVE but BE SURE TO GET DESSERT ;)
Bad food bad service. Very limited menu cold burger fried chicken only dark meat and hardly and meat at all waited a very long time for drinks and then longer wait for food. Plenty of places to get an acceptable dining experience- this is not one of them.
It’s just wonderful! Best restaurant in Newton!
