Beautiful service, great atmosphere, would highly recommend for intimate dinner or get together where you can have a great conversation and just enjoy your time. I thought the menu was a bit too basic, but maybe I was expecting more from such a revered chef. The menu was simple, primarily American fare, but everything was great.

we were shocked to find this beautiful restaurant almost empty when we arrived for an 8pm reservation. The food was fine, service good, decor outstanding but it appears that the economy is affecting its survival. As we left at about ten a long table started to fill up with young women dressed to kill, all bearing gifts

The menu offers a 3 course meal for a set price or you can order individually as well. For starter we had the chicken faux gaux with toasted bread (the pate is served chilled), which was really yummy! For main course we both ordered the beef filet which was served with mashed potatoes and squash, the presentation was very nice, and for dessert we had the creme brulee, it was excellent! Our waitress also gave us a Drambrulee beverage along with our dessert, on the house! The prices were very reasonable as well. After dinner, we were able to go to the club area straight from the restaurant thru the side door. Great place to have dinner and drinks with friends!

It was Easter weekend when I went, so it was pretty quiet. Our server, Nancy, was amazing and awesome. Very accomodating and seasoned in customer service. She knew the menu inside out. Three of us had the seabass - so good! One had the fixed menu. The chicken salad was delicious, The caesar salad, very tasty. Didn't skimp on the dressing. And the dessert - something with Coco Puffs was delicious, as well as the creme brulee. The drinks were good, too. Our favorite was the Barrymore. The Cosmo was a little too strong for most of us, though. I ordered the Social Angelino. I don't drink much, but I liked that one, too.

The waitress was really helpful, telling us a little about all of the dishes and even alerting us to the appetizers that were "really big bowl, little food." The entire staff was excellent, serving in an unobstrusive way. The main dishes were a little small in portion size, but enough for us women.

Our party of six arrived 5 minutes late for our 7:45 pm reservations. There were two occupied tables in the entire resraurant. We were ask to wait while our table was being prepared. Wait of several minutes ensured. Sat down at table in rear. 18 minutes passed before drink orders were taken. Took 10 minutes and two requests to get an Arnold Palmer (and the restaurant is named Citrus). Bread baskets didn't arrive until after we finally had entrees. Food was fair. Nothing was horrendous, but nothing was particularly memorable or very good. My roasted chicken could have been had at any charity event and the tater tots seemed like they were the frozen, drop in the fryer vat, type. Its a shame, as its a nice room. Won't last long.

It was our first time and the setting was OK - a little too wide open and not at all cozy. The service was underwhelming even though there were lots of empty tables and only after we spoke to the night manager tht anything began to happen. She was very sweet and apologetic and made a tremendous to right the lazy start - no drinks for half hor and a non existent bread basket. Hwever, the food was delicious and the evening turned out fine.

I was disappointed in Citrus. I had the Prix Fixe menu with a Caesar Salad drowning in dressing and the 72-hour rib that I heard people raving about on Yelp, but that was uninspired. The Creme Brule and chocolate bar desserts were both delicious. There was live jazz on the Saturday night I went and that was pleasant and not so loud as to hinder conversation. I liked our waiter but the service was poor. For example, I had to ask for a knife when my entree came out, which isn't a big deal, but disappointing at an upscale restaurant.

We had an eventful and memorable meal here. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. When there was a question about the corkage fee, the manager handled in professionally and in a way that would encourage us to return. I had read many reviews here, on CitySearch and Yelp...so I had a good idea of what dishes worked best. The short ribs were as tasty as reported, albeit the potion size was a tad small. The Atlantic Char was also a hit, as was the goat cheese caesar. The absolute standout of the evening was the orange souffle desert!!! Bottom line, if you do your homework and order carefully, you will have a great meal. We are looking forward to returning.

What a disappointment this experience was. It started out ok, nice jazz music, comfortable chairs & then went down hill from there. They put loud techno music on in the 1 hour after we arrived, our waiter took 20 minutes to bring out drinks, we were only 1 of 5 tables there were at least 5 servers. The appetizers were ok, the main course tasted like they were frozen & desert was ok. Our server never checked back to see how the food was & did not seem to think it was strange that when the plates were cleared they only had one bite taken out of each. I just hate paying for terrible food. As far as presentation there were large plates with tiny bits of food, it reminded me of 80's plating and cuisine.

We were incredibly disappointed in this restaurant. After much ado made in the LA times about the ambiance and decor I was shocked at how tacky this place actually is. They took an architectural gem and transformed it into a low class pick-up place which is too loud and draws it's clientele from the not so great neighborhood that surrounds it. Food is tasty but too rich and even at the "dine LA" special price was nowhere near worth the $110 tab for dinner and 1 glass of wine! The decor is a confusion of styles that do not work well together. I won't be recommending or visiting this place again

Citrus is a charming neighborhood gem, smack in the middle of the busy Hollywood nightlife. You feel as if you're dining in an indoor garden; the ambiance is warm and inviting, as well as the food. The food is prepared with elegant simplicity and really is a testament to the Californian fare.

Having read somewhat mixed reviews about this restaurant, I was not prepared for the really excellent dinner we had (from the DineLA menu. All three courses were right on, the "27-hour short rib" was to die for. Service was relaxed but attentive. A jazz trio provided nice musical ambiance. All in all, one of our best dining experiences.

This is a great restaurant! The food was excellent. The service exceptional. The room is gorgeous and there was a live jazz band that was extremely good. My one complaint is that the Open Table expense rating is inaccurate. This is not a cheap restaurant - $$! The entrees are in the $20 range, the wine is on the high end and a regular cup of coffee is $4.50 a cup. This is probably the reason that the restaurant was not crowded on a Friday night and in today's economy the restaurant is struggling to stay open. They are only open to the public 3 nights a week. They do offer group dining, which they say is doing well.

Citrus at social is not a restaurant to come if you are very hungry, portions are micro small and very expensive on Valentines day. If you come on Valentines day your menu is already chosen by the Chef in a Valentines package menu, where you get to choose from what the Chef decides is a good menu for the four entries you will get. I had a reservation late in the evening and my date was very hungry so was I, but they where so busy that even do we had a reservation we had to wait close to an hour to get served my date was furious. Other couples had the same problem, the best part of my meal was dish that was served in a sort of caviar tin can that had pasta that looked like black caviar over all we left a bit disappointed on the food waiterok

This restaurant ruined our Valentine's Day. Our reservation was for 9pm and we were seated at 10:20. The amuse bouche didn't even come out until 11pm. By the time we ordered the Chateaubriand and the Chestnut soup were gone. How many people were they planning on serving when the only menu offered was the prix fixe? We ended up picking up and leaving because by 11:20 we were upset and hungry and clearly we weren't going to be getting any food anytime soon. This was miserable- and if only the managers had managed the crowd, maybe, JUST MAYBE, would this experience have been tolerable. This restaurant needs to clear out the management and start over. Wish we had gotten to try the food. But we will never go back.

Ambiance is what sells the space and the food, very good, what was disappointing was the service handoff from greeting to seating through serving. I get the impression the turn-over rate of service staff is high here, or that training needs to be improved. A shame really -- in every other sense a place I would return to often if service were improved.

Been here before and food is consistently good with original preparations(i.e lobster caviar) Valentines Day was a disappointment however due to the service...There definitely was a staffing problem...guests were kept waiting up to an hour for seating while there were many empty tables...many customers left...our 6:45 reservation seated us at 7:15 and our meal was not complete until 10:30...we were offered complimentary wine, however and we do feel this was an isolated incident(perhaps they should have told us there was a problem instead of trying to act like it was business as usual' We would return because the food is good and the space is beautiful...

We had dinner at Citrus for Valentine's Day. We were greeted with complimentary champagne, however, we had to wait 20 min. past our arrival time & dinner reserv. time to be seated. Everyone was standing & crowded at the door. We had theatre reservations blocks from the restaurant so we felt this would be a perfect fit. Our waitress was nice & promised to have us out of there by 7:30. She knew we had been seated late. The menu was prix fix, we waited 20 min for the main course which we finally received at 7:40. The food was so late we skipped dessert & only had bites of our main course. We left Citrus at 7:45 without any apologies or comps, we never saw the waitress again. Wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone. Unorganized!

The food was pleasing - a stark contrast to the patronizing service. Reservations do not guarantee you a nice table... that is, only if you are not physically pleasing or without connections. It seems as though, like the spotty existence of "equal opportunity", equal service does not exist at Citrus at Social Hollywood. For this, I was very displeased with my experience and I sincerely hope this does not happen to you, my dear reader.

My only criticism is that our first course came 5 minutes earlier than our wine. The whole point of ordering the wine pairing is to have the wine together with the meal, but the servers were late in getting us our drinks. So we waited for 5 minutes as our food got cold for the wine. When the server finally came with our drinks, he didn't even know how to differentiate the glasses. I asked him what my wine was, and it took him a minute of fumbling and looking into his notepad to tell me what it was. And the pinot grigio I received with my 2nd course was too pungent to go with my fish.
